I'm sorry ti say but this is not a good advice. You could and should exploit the full potential of your joystick, and not using the sst means losing all the fun for what i think. First assure that you have latest drivers and sst software. Then remove any ingame preset of standard buttons of the joy: they can interfere with the sst settings. Finally take sometime to understand the various functions of the sst. All my profiles have shiftstates and multiple modes And everything works like a charm but for the mfd that only shows default information. For my blackshark profile i have set the modes rotary like that it switches the master arm And preset combat settings on position Red. Turning back to mode 2 will switch systems to nav. I have a partial wip f15 profile to share If you need. Now I'm writing from the mobile. Tomorrow i will upload. If of interest i could think of making a guide for the sst software because it is not the first time i see the advice to use ingame settings. Will update tomorrow. Stay tuned.

The problem is that the switch accepts specific outputs for every position so you should have a specific keystroke for every function of the switch you want to simulate. Instead the program has mapped that switch to work like inc or dec function or like a potentiometer. I'm curious too to understand how other pit builders have solved this problem.
-
Yes but consider that i have a 4 pos switch. The intention is to use it for a command in dcs that is activated with incremental or decremental keystrokes, i.e alt+[ to dec, alt+] to inc. How does the switch or the software know which direction i am going? A 4 pos switch is intended to assign a different (or the same eventually) output for each position. It doesn't understand which direction I'm turning .

I'm interested too in this. I have rotary encoders but they have no steps like the rotary switches. However they work best with dcs because they recognize left and right rotation. While switches should have one specific keystroke for every step.

SU-25T: ecm and ir jammer indicators - DCS World 1.2.9
Mano replied to Mano's topic in Su-25T Issues
thank you for your answers. but...are they working ayway? so is the "clicks count" really useful? -
hallo again, I know it maybe is a bit OT, but try to follow this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=126659

Hi all, I've been flying the SU-25T only for a couple of weeks and I have some issues with the ECM and IR Jammer systems. ECM - I mount the two MPS-410 pods for the ecm. - I press default key E for activate the ECM --> I don't see any "reaction" from the aircraft: i.e. no light, no switch, no click...I read somewhere that a light on the right wall should blink for 15secs during warm up of the system then get steady. I see the light bulbs (there are 2) but they're both always off. Is this a bug? Am I missing something? IR JAMMER - I activate the ir jammer with the default key LSHIFT-E - I expect that a light on the left front panel (over the Weapon Control panel) gets on but it's not like that. See image for reference (from the DCS SU-25T manual) - Instead a red flag becomes visible on top part of the HSI with letters K and R (i don't exactly remember). Photo is from manual, not current situation. Later maybe I will try to post a video. So, are these bugs or normal operation? If bugs are they already known? How can I understand that the systems are working? Thank you all.

eh si sono io!!! ora vengono in mente tanti altri! Boris, Keko, Zebra, Hyena ... abbiamo passato belle serate e anche meeting! :) a quando un voletto in elicottero? ;)

as far as I know no. I have the x52 pro however and in the SST software there isn't any option like that. you can try with the rotaries programming them with bands. The backside of this is that you have to rotate back to neutral position before engaging the switch anew, so it's not exactly what you want. Anyway, the x45 should have the shift button (pinky) and the 3-modes switch like the x52, so why do you say there aren't a lot of buttons? the config is quite the same of the x52... my curiosity: why this question with the x45? have you managed to find a solution for the x52? how do you do that?

I'm a bit late but maybe this is helpful (if not said elsewhere)... To have the X52 Pro (I have this one) work you have to plug it on a USB2.0 port. Moreover it is not probably sufficient to plug it into a USB2.0 (I plugged it to a 2.0 hub connected to a 3.0 on the case...so it should be a downgraded 3.0 --> 2.0): what I've done is to uninstall the intel drivers for usb 3.0 support (it's under installed software list - control panel), and it worked very well. install latest drivers and SST. it should work on the latest versions.

DCS Head Tracker DLL - Now Huey Gunner Compatible
Mano replied to samtheeagle's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
well done guys...I was losing any hope to get DCS work with my Freetrack...I've built a pc appositely for DCS + Freetrack and not getting it to work was quite frustrating (and hurting my account if I had to buy a trackir...) however, please stick the posts with the file and the correct procedure (for 1.2.8 ) or edit the first post...it's difficult to find the actual solution and if one (like me) starts from the very beginning, it can get quite frustrating (or only time consuming) to try everything...while the solution is already at hand... anyway, great job! -
Hi all, here is another poll for 2 rigs...they're around the same price but different architecture. the people who suggested the second one is sure that "old" games like DCS will run smoothly...I believe not, but not being very experienced in pc hardware, I really don't know if it's true or not. I've read that usually the bottleneck in DCS is the CPU...but I'm not really relaxed with a integrated graphic card... at any rate, here's the contest...please let me know what you think! thank you... thank you. could you please me link for the i5/K version? I cannot find it googling for it... what differences are with the normal and the k? is it only the possibility of o.c. (which I don't know if I would go for it).

Hi all, finally, with a colleague, we ended up with these two options for a nice hardware for the DCS series (and FSim). (I'm totally ignorant on hardware things so I need help!) I'm likely going for the first one because of budget, by the way I'd like your kind impressions to help me choose wisely. OPTION 1 --- ~700€/800€ MB: Asus Z87m-plus (dual channel 4 slots) CPU: Intel core I5-4430 3.00GHz Video: Asus GTX650ti --> this one could be stretched to a GTX660 or better GTX760 (which one do you suggest?) LOL, actually he isn't really a friend of mine... :) anyway, thank you all for your feedback. I've also had this feedback from a colleague of mine so I'm not gonna buy this thing... I will post, on another thread, a new configuration for a pc...for which I'll ask your precious considerations. Thank you. Ciao

Hi All, what do you think about this video card (not TI)? is it ok for BS and A-10? Thanks in advance
-
Hi all, I'm thinking about upgrading my machine, and got this offer from a friend. I'm going to play with BS2 and A-10 (plus FSX but I believe this is not a benchmark). What do you think about it? will it go easy with medium-high details? I'm doing the upgrade to play mostly with these sims so I would like to have a pc that can handle the best details on almost every situation. CPU INTEL I7 920 O.C. to 4 GHZ 12 GB RAM DDR3 1600 KINGSTON SSD 128 GB SAMSUNG 2 HARD DISK RAPTOR 10000 RPM* 2 video ATI HD 6850 (CROSSFIRE)* liquid cooling system motherboard asus p6t supply 750W He's asking 1200€ but thinking about lowering it a bit. Is the price ok? Thank you in advance for your hints. Ciao

Hi all! tired of bad performance of DCS:BS on my pc (and the impossibility to fly with bad weather because of stuttering) and wanting to approach to DCS:A10 with a performing pc, I'm going to upgrade my current pc. considering I'm completely ignorant about computer hardware I'd wish to ask for your expertise. following is what a friend of mine has suggested me looking at DCS requirements and what he had at home. I'd like to know if this setup will grant me enough power to play BS and A10 (and maybe next DCS) without the need of tweaking with the various configs to gain that 2 or 3 fps! the setup I've been suggested is around 650€, but it includes a second hand processor w/ heat-sink and power supply. keeping fixed these components, are motherboard, graphic card and ram ok? 1. CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 (HDZ955FBGMBOX) 2. with heatsink Zalman CNPS9500 AM2 3. and power supply Corsair HX620W (these three components will be given to me half-price...so I would like to keep'em if ok) 4. motherboard MSI 990FXA-GD80 AMD 990FX chipset based 5. graphic card SAPPHIRE - Radeon HD 6950 2 Gb ddr5 Pci-E DVI-I Dual Link / DVI-D Single Link / HDMI / 2x Mini-Display Port Dirt 3 Edition 6. GEIL - Memoria Dimm Enhance Corsa 8 Gb (2x4 Gb) ddr3 Dual Channel 1600 Mhz CL9 1,5V this setup will cost me around 650€. if you have any suggestion please tell me, considering that I would like to put that price as a upper limit... thank you!

Q: what makes a good KA-50 SimPit with todays options?
Mano replied to Jasper2610's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
for I/O card look at this: http://www.poscope.com/search.php?q=PoKeys55-T I've bought it and I'm successfully using it for PVI-800 keyboard, Datalink overhead panel and ABRIS commands. Actually I'm interfacing with 25 momentary pushbuttons (PVI-800) + 13 (Datalink) + 5 (ABRIS) + 2 Encoder (ABRIS rotaries) and 1 2-pos switch (ABRIS On-Off). All this with only one board. Actually I don't know if you can use it for outputs too, but it can be programmed (has C libraries) so I think there could be some ways to let her communicate with the sim. Inputs are arranged in a matrix, except for the 2 encoders that require individual channels (2 per encoder + GND). I'm planning now to add the weapon mode panel (left panel), autopilot commands and UV-26. The board can manage an LCD display too (and 2 LED block matrix displays). I've successfully lighted up an LCD 16x2 but I didn't get into it very much because I'm not a programmer and I couldn't program it. I think that with 2 of these boards you can easily have a very immersive cockpit. Now, with the 3 panels I've built + my Saitek X52PRO (fully configured with 2 modes) I don't have to touch my keyboard. good luck! -
my 2 cents here! :) I think that the "problem" is that in the game to take out a tank you have to see it "explode", and it's quite difficult with the cannon, especially for the T55. The game doesn't consider when a tank is out of combat. I don't know actually if this is true, it's only my impression. in real life (and in other -more accurate *land warfare*- simulations) a tank can be out of the game for many reasons. a lucky cannon shot can disable optics, tracks, turret rotation, cannon elevation, engine or other systems causing the tank to be in condition of not being able to continue its mission and leaving the crew no other options than to flee away from the will-be-iron-coffin. this level of detail is not implemented in BS (but for the helicopter). I believe that if you think on a wide-spanning warfare simulation this is a great miss. however this can be acceptable if you consider that resources have been focused on other aspects of the simulator. but I'm not a pilot, or a tank driver, or a military, so I don't really know if weapons or armors are realistically represented in the simulator. I'm explaining my experience with BS, and also with FC2 where even the A10 cannon was not able to penetrate T55 armor...

issue with keypress for "Weapon System Mode Selector" PVR after patch
Mano replied to Mano's topic in Bugs and Problems
yeah it's annoying because in the option screen it does work... nobody can help us? is it possible only we have this problem? -
Hi all, after applying latest patch (1.0.2) I've got this problem with the "Weapon System Mode Selector" - PVR. Normally you can rotate it right or left with keypresses: LALT+F & LCTRL+F. Now, in the option -> controls config window it is correctly recognized (the first keypress for CW rotation, and the second for CCW rotation), but in the sim it only works CW. I've analyzed the default.lua & keyboard.lua files (..\Config\Input\Aircrafts\ka-50\keyboard), but it seems they're set correctly (but maybe I'm wrong). Please note that before applying the patch it was ok. I think it has not relations with my joystick (Saitek X52PRO) config, because the key doesn't work even with keyboard keypress (and in the control config window of BS it is correctly recognized!). anyone knows this issue and how to solve it? Thank you very much.
