I think that happens because of a new feature implemented that simulates the fact that you need to lean a little bit to the side when looking behind your seat. That could probably have been implemented a little bit smoother though without the sudden jump. The jump effect strangly don't show up on the rights side though. And if you compare how much of the rudder surface you can see by rotating the view to left and right you see more of it by rotating to the left. I was almost starting to think that there is more of a buggy behaviour on right side than it is on left side.

Thanks for your opinion. I won't shoot you for that;) unless I meet you in the virtual skies that is. But I know what you mean. I haven't given the altitude that much attention when I've tested out the P-51 against the 190. Mostly I've flying around at 5k ft (that is low altitude, right?). I think I will try to set up a simple mission in the editor and see if there are any differenses on 10k (middle?) and 20k (high?). The 190 seems to give a greater punch in the hull compared to what the Mustang can do when firing the guns. And I've also read that the 190 can take more punishment than the Mustang can do. All-in-all it seems to be the right tactics to look for the angel when you're in a Mustang and using the energy advantage when you're in a Dora.
-
Which are its strengths actually? As it is simulated now it seems to be a pure energy fighter. Does the 190 have any other advantages (compared to the P-51D) other than great climb performance?
-
Yes, I have seen them disengage in earlier builds as well, but not by zoom climbing. But if Dora has got some extra power I guess this is a more effective way of disengaging. Anyway, I think it's cool and the first time I noticed it I wasn't prepared and it took me a long way to catch up and finishing him off. In a situation when there are more enemies around I think that is not a valid option anymore if he has a long enough head start. In earlier builds there were seldom a problem to catch up with him. When he was dameged enough he just put on the position lights (quite a clear telltale) and slowly desended for the home base.
-
Have someone else noticed a different behaviour of the Fw-190 since 1.2.5? When he's badly hurt he will try to disengange by zooming away. I can't recall that I have noticed this before. Is this maybe due to some changes of the AI behaviour? I haven't tried this out for other AI enemies yet. Could this be something common for all AIs now (when appropriate)? Is this accurate? Does a Fw-190 have better zoom climb performance than a P-51?

Does your numpad keys work to look around? If they do you may have accidentally remapped your bindings for your mouse axis. Check out the mapping for A-10C Sim/Game in Options->Controls. If the numpad doesn't work either, maybe you have some head tracking software that are blocking your free looking. Try to turn it of or uninstall it.

Have you tried LAlt-C?

I had something resembling what you describe but it went away when I uppded the resolution of the in-cockpit displays (in my case to 1024 every frame).

Why wont the Cannon Reticle show up in hud?

Maybe you've forgotten to set Master Arm and Gun/Pac to arm. -
Ok We got replica sticks how about some panels?
reilar replied to Taco's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Regarding an UFC see this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62995 This doesn't look cheap either but it could be an alternative if no manufacturer are interested to make one. -
Beautiful:thumbup:

TrackIR loads DCS BlackShark instead of DCS A10C
reilar replied to DanKurt's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For the time being, this is how it works (as far as I know). You need to attach your A-10C TrackIR profile to Black Shark in the TrackIR sw. This will probably be rectified when DCS A-10C is released. -
Yes. LCtrl + Pause
-
Well, that's perfectly understandable. And I will be more than happy if you could share your findings on part numbers and the assambly. Thanks for sharing:thumbup:

Awesome Boot. As JaseGill said, I'm equally interested in buying that as a kit. If you somehow manage to put the parts together (with the panel) and instructions of how to assamble the parts, I will be very interested.
-
This is a great thread. Boot and Rocketeer, I really looking forward to your results. Hopefully I can get some inspiration to make a UFC panel by myself. I already have the Cougar MFD's and it is really awkward to switch between pushing buttons on the MFD's and using the mouse to push the UFC buttons. It takes away a lot of the suspension of disbelief.

@Moa Thanks for a very interesting and informative post. I have agreed with OP from the beginning though I also see the point of some of the criticism that others have on him - you can always be a little more humble when you criticise things whatever it may be. But I also think the DCS: A-10C manual needs some sort of reorginzation because it's quite heavy to take in. I would love to see an effort from someone who seems to have the knowledge to do it - and I am unfortunately not the one who have that knowledge I guess.

...and train a lot in DCS: A-10C:smilewink:

Problem with Warthog Throttle
reilar replied to Jg2001_Rasputin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Now I have been in contact with TM support, France and they couldn't do anything to help me other than give me an RMA and let me send the throttle back to them for repair or an replacement. I asked for information on how to reset the firmware (like pushing a button while simultaneously connecting the throttle to the computer) but they couldn't help with that either. They told me that there will be an updated firmware/driver in 2 weeks from now (more or less as they put it) and I could choose to wait for that if I wanted to. But I don't really know if that is all there is to it so I rather think I will send it back to them. I was promised a new throttle if TM couldn't reflash it either. -

Okay Rasputin, let me know how your contact with TM support turns out. I will post an update here when TM gets back to me. I have already contacted SimWare as well and asked for a replacement. Lets see what happens when TM and SimWare answere. But as you say, this is not looking good. -
Problem with Warthog Throttle
reilar replied to Jg2001_Rasputin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, it seems that I have had the same bad luck as you Rasputin. My throttle just stopped working today. I noticed it when I started up my computer and the LEDs didn't turn on. I went into the "Set up USB game controllers" control panel and the TM Warthog throttle wasn't there. The TM Warthog stick is visible and so is my Cougar MFDs but not the throttle. I have also tried on another computer but it is the same there as well. I have sent a mail to the Thrustmaster Support to see if they can come up with something to help me. I am not looking forward to sending the throttle back to the vendor because I live in Sweden and I bought it from SimWare in Belgium. It will take almost a week to get it there and about the same time to get a new one back. At least two weeks without any flying is almost unbearable. *Sigh* :( -

So...will this patch be a game changer?
reilar replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Which patch???? -
I think Grimes is talking about the TAD (Tactical Awarness Display), not the TGP which is the targeting pod display. Look at the TAD for the bullseye symbol.
