  1. Hello "Nealius" I think that altitude and heat, like the cold in winter, was a factor that the pilots had to take into account in Afghanistan for the Kiowa and other helicopters. I know for example that the SA342 Gazelle that flew exclusively with the EC725 Caracal, had the guns and missile mounts removed to save weight. The Gazelles were used only for reconnaissance and searches thanks to the "Vivianne" camera. Summer in Afghanistan, which combines everything a helicopter hates: high temperatures and altitudes that inevitably degrade the performance of the aircraft (36 °C and at 2000 meters altitude) French helicopters operated at the end of their limits, which is why they flew a lot at night. Each advanced FOB had a helipad for refueling ammunition and fuel for the helicopters. Moreover, during operations, the helicopters often returned to refuel. It is therefore quite possible that the helicopter pilots had to calculate as accurately as possible the weight between the ammunition and the fuel carried and the support duration of the units in the area.
  2. Hello everyone, while searching in my photo archives I found images taken during my stay in Afghanistan in the Kapisa region on the Nijrab FOB. I stayed in the region from 2008 to 2009 for seven months. At the time there was a lot of movement on the FOB: CH-47, OH-58, UH-60 and AH-64. I was able to take some photos of the Apache in action, and I thank again a thousand times the pilots who provided us with support in all conditions and all weathers with great mastery and great professionalism without ever giving up.
  3. Well with the EOD the work was certainly not easy. And no in seven months I have certainly seen fewer places than you. Several round trips by road or helicopter between Kabul, Nijrab, Tagab, Bagram and the airport of Dushanbe in Tajikistan through which we transited by plane to arrive and leave Afghanistan.
  4. Hello all, thanks to ""Zabuzard"" : I was able to fix my problem. "Several Steam users have reported a CTD since the last patch and it seems that this is due to the fact that the Steam DCS is not properly managed to update C++ redistributables." Thanks a thousand times again.
  5. Hello "Zabuzard" Thanks for your help, indeed the update of C++ redistributables, solved my problem. Thanks a thousand times again.
  6. Thanks for your answer "rob10" I checked my antivirus, no problem with it. I know I have a lot of mods, but the other planes and helicopters work fine. Since the update, only the F4-E crashes DCS. DCS has a CTD with the F4-E when the loading bar reaches "SPOWN OBJECT"
  7. Hello everyone since yesterday after the last update (2.9.7.58923), I have a CDT with the F4-E, immediately when launching an instant mission. I am with DCS MT (reshade) via STEAM. I have no problem with the other DLCs: F-14, M2000, MF1 (E,C,B), Mig29. Attached is the .log file dcs.log-20240811-133931.zip cef_log.log

  9. Thanks for your answers I found it, it works well
  10. So souvenir photos of an evening with your compatriots Here our base "NIJRAB" with the AFGHANIA valley We can clearly see the helicopter landing area. at the bottom right of the base. Aero fuel refueling, departure on a mission.
  11. Hello everyone, can you tell me what are the keyboard shortcuts, or the buttons to be able to zoom on the TV screen, and to be able to point the vehicles precisely. I can't find the commands. Thanks in advance
  12. Hello "Melv" My camera at the time was a pocket Panasonic with a zoom of X6 and 10 million pixels! (A far cry from today's mobile phones...) There was so much dust there that despite my precautions at the end of the stay grains of sand had ended up getting in and sometimes blocked the mechanism. But now it still works. Indeed it's cool to have been in contact with the same Chinook and Black Hawk crews in two periods that followed one another. For us French our mandates varied from 6 to 7 months without returning home, I think that for the American soldiers it was 1 year with a possible return home once. Take care of yourself
  13. Hello "melv", glad to know that you were also on operation in Afghanistan and I hope that everything went well for you and your friends during your stay. Our "task Force Tiger" mandate in the Kapisa Valley (North-East Kabul) with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), ended in June 2009 when I returned to France after seven months of deployment. Concerning the CH-53s of the "varsity7" they were based at Bagram AFB, so it is quite possible that their crews were assigned for different missions in support of different units in the North-East of Afghanistan. Very good work and very good CH-53 crews indeed. The same "Blackhawk" with us too... My photos here: Have a good flight and take care of yourself.
  14. It wasn't my time, Unfortunately, during my stay this was not the case for all my US, Afghan or Regiment friends.
  15. Thanks for your comments guys, "ChrisUK27" I never found out what happened to the visit sign, It was there on departure and absent on return!
  16. Indeed the "Cayuse" is also a good shooting platform thanks for the video
  17. Thank you “XpRiV”, I’m still learning in 2024 I didn't understand that "Source code (zip)" was in fact the complete A-29 file Thank you all and thank you to the creator of the A-29
  18. Thanks “Rudel” for the link, I'm downloading, but I still don't understand how you found the full .zip of the A-29. thank you again for your help
  19. Thanks guys for your response, so I am on the GitHub web page, but can you show me one is the button to download the A-29. I see the link to download the Livery pack, but there is no pack for the A-29, I must be really visually impaired I need your help thanks in advance
  20. Thank you for your quick reply, but you could put the link because I must be bad I can't find it
  21. Hello everyone, I'm looking for where to find the download of the latest version of this wonderful plane. I can't find the link, thanks in advance.
  22. Hello everyone, I have the same problem with boat fumes. I'm on DCS Stable and STEAM. Can you explain to me how to launch DCS with MT thanks in advance.
  23. I hope I'm not wrong: In 2010 all CH-47Fs were painted in the new "tan" paint. The official name of the paint is Desert Sage Green. This is a CARC paint. CARC stands for Chemical Agent Resistant Coating. This paint also has properties that prevent corrosion of any kind. It contains additives that prevent chemical agents (like those used in chemical warfare) from penetrating the paint and permanently contaminating the object. It makes it easy to decontaminate the plane or vehicle. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/col.20538 Other older CH-47s are CARC Helo Drab Green.
  24. Hello everyone, while searching through my archives I found photos of my stay in Afghanistan in the Kapisa valley in 2008 - 2009. With these photos I pay tribute to the ground personnel and the CHINOOK crews who participated in the operations alongside us. May they be blessed for their dedication and professionalism. CH-47F Chinook of Company B - "Varsity", 7th Battalion, 101st Airborne Division CH-47F Chinook of Company B - "Pachyderms", 6th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division and others that I have not identified...... Photos on board.... And various missions.... oups ! after an eventful flight the panel left its place without authorization !
