I did a pass on a clean deck. I'm running a 9900k @ 4.7Ghz, a 2080 at stock clocks, with 32 Gb of RAM. I've got the ship about 20 NM off the coast of Georgia heading out to sea with land to the stern. Everthing on high with no antialiasing @ 3840x1080 on a single screen. I run a solid 60 FPS until I look aft. About half the time it stays fine, but occasionally it drops to about 40 when my view centers over the LSO station. I'm wondering if the displays are causing the drop? Kinda of like some of the issues using pods on some birds in some situations.

Probably clicking on the link in your original post. It might be a good idea to maybe update that one with the current link. Might save some confusion.

Hey! I'm in The US. Arizona more specifically.

Hey all! Well, my 10 year old Warthog throttle crapped out on me a week ago and it looks like my stick base may be giving up the ghost too. So, I was wondering if anyone had a base lying around that they wouldn't mind selling?

I went from a 500GB EVO 860 SSD to a Crucial 1 TB M.2. The sim runs the same, but the load times are a huge difference. The 860 took about a minute to load into the F-14 freeflight mission where the M.2 takes about 15 seconds. Granted, the Crucial only cost me $99 US when I picked it up which was a huge steal.

I've actually been having this issue with just my stick for about a year now. So several OBs. I just kinda worked around it by deflecting the stick a few degrees in the opposite direction as I hit fly. That being said, I'd love to find a way to fix it permanently. It happens to me in desktop. No VR for me.. :(((

Thank you! That works nicely. Though deleting the defaults for 1 and 2 just opened up a bunch of possibilities too. This way I won't have to do it again for anything else though. Cheers!

That would be it right there.. Didn't cross my mind until I hit submit. Like a great many things that happen in my life.. lol

Alrighty. Well, as soon as I posted this I had an idea and it worked. So.... I guess I don't need this thread anymore.. lol If a mod could please delete.

Alirght, this is going to be fun I think. I've got 3 Cougar MFDs. They all work fine in every plane but the A-10C. My third MFD is greyed out like the other two because of the default bindings. I was wondering if anyone knows a way that I can clear it from the default so I can bind it to something else.

The way I look at it.... No plan survives contact with the enemy. The enemy in this case is the actual development. It may look like roses and sunshine during the early stages, but as it goes deeper and deeper it begins to look like a compost heap. You never know what you'll dig up as you keep working.

To be fair IronMike. I think it would be a safe bet to go ahead and get all of the switches, buttons, knobs, and sliders thrown in at some point. I would love to see the Wing sweep O/R on an axis. Just sayin.... lol Keep up the amazing work though. The Cat is my favorite aircraft of all time, and you guys have done a beautiful job bringing her to life.

Yeah, totally not working for me in OB...... I can get up to 5 birds, but no more.
-
Thanks for the reply. It looks like that's the direction I'm going to have to take. It would be cool if there was something in the ME that could do what I'm looking for, but it's not a huge deal. This has actually been a fun little venture. I even ended up getting my butt kicked by my own mission during testing.. I must be doing something right.lol Cheers!

Okay, I know the title is a bit vague. My apologies, but I wasn't sure how to word it in a short manner. So, what I'm doing is working on my first mission using triggers. Yep, been playing DCS since 2010 and just now digging into triggers.... lol So, I have two Blufor air groups. One is an F-14B with a single AI wingman whose task is to intercept an incoming flight of SU-24s that are meant to engage the Stennis The second is an F/A-18C with an AI wingman tasked with the destruction of some transport planes at an airfield. Both leads are currently set to client so I can choose what part of the mission I want to fly. Is there any way I can have the mission change the slot I don't choose to AI so they can run through that portion of the mission in parallel to me? Or will I have to create a separate AI group with similar tasks to be triggered at a certain point?
-
Yeah.... I've been wondering that myself.

I personally don't fly the Cat any different than I did the Hog. Well, at least while cruising. Trim when needed, don't jerk the stick around. Nice smooth inputs until there's a point where that's no longer possible. I just did my first trap in the Cat. Not a perfect CASE 1 approach, but I got her on deck and caught the 4 wire without a whole lot of effort. It just takes practice like with any of these modules. Now if I could only get my butt coordinated when it comes to high AoA turns in combat......

Personally, I just took some sand paper and rounded the edges on the detent that comes with the throttle. Takes about 15 minutes and saves some money.

If I remember correctly, Cap from the Grim Reapers, records his tracks in a local multiplayer game. I've noticed myself that MP tracks tend to be far more accurate on playback than SP tracks. Could be a nice little workaround.

Looking at the wallpaper for the Cat... Does anyone else notice that the door to that bird's fueling probe appears to be missing? I figured I'd throw that out there to kinda lighten the mood.
-
To be fair, the Cat most people are used to hearing is the A. The 110s in the B are bound to sound a bit different.

PSA: Virtual CVWs should have a 'v' for 'virtual'
hawk2495 replied to Nealius's topic in Multiplayer
In the end, it shouldn't matter. No civilian entity can copyright CVW-xxx anyways. They've already been done by the USN. Ran into this while running with a gaming clan back in the day. We were the 10th Mountain Division and had several people try to take our founder to court over it. They were all thrown out due to the fact that those are copyrights held by the US Army. They can suck it up and drive on like everyone else. Is it common courtesy? Yes. Is it something that is legally actionable? Not unless the Army/Navy/Corps decide they're bored and want to sue you over it. -
I created a mission with a single Hornet with HARMs and a full SA-10 site. Stand off engagements ended with all 4 missiles being shot down. What it took was coming in low behind some hills 20 NM from the site and doing a pop up strike. Pop up, let the radars light you up. Cut loose 2 HARMs and duck back behind the hill to lose the missiles coming at you. My releases were at roughly 10-12Nm. At that range they didn't seem to have time to switch targets. So some old fashioned Wild Weasel action seems to work.

An interesting F-18 Multimonitor thing....
hawk2495 replied to hawk2495's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I did. I was in the process of sizing them down to fit into my Cougar MFDs. The stroke settings were default for this test though. -
An interesting F-18 Multimonitor thing....
hawk2495 replied to hawk2495's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah.. It just doesn't make any sense to me as to why one configuration works perfectly and the other doesn't. It's essentially the same thing just rendering in a different direction.. Oh well. I did find a workaround that's kind of annoying, but works. I just configured it for 3840x1080 and moved my right monitor below my main in windows display config. Works well, even if I have to jump through some hoops to get my cursor on the correct screen. lol
