I do not have any other hotas available to try!
But I am pretty sure of it, as it did also show up without the bodnar-based controller connected ...
As soon as you get over a certain limit of 'inputs' when FFB is switched on, the stuttering input can and will occur. The fact I saw it only(mainly) on the I-16 is probably because of its features and nature it needs/uses lots of input pulses: Manual gear, no trim ie. more stick movements ... and it is a throw-around-the-corner-type aircraft, (much more than a Spit or P51) especially when a 109 or 190 is trying to get and stay on your tail
yeah, the FFB is something I don't have..
btw, I noticed I16 is trimmed to a cruise speed of ~300kmh, it actually needs very little pitch correction if at all, but it does roll to the right a bit and there's no trim for that..

And, to add, if I really try hard, I can see the same effect in the Tomcat...
does it happen on ANY hotas button or specifically when using Bodnars buttons?

good call, I've noticed it too during some of my missions. The outer tanks were 80% full while the main tanks had 0% fuel in them. I thought it was my error in something, but I've flown this mission couple more times since then it's the same situation, i.e. the main tanks have 0 fuel in them...

How does one switch FFB off in DCS? lol
Tried it without the power cord in the SideWinder... after gear down/up, down/up, down, landing, take off the slow responses returned.
Oh well - found out now my rudder pedals need some attention, its wiring needs checking ... May have to try and live with this one.
(Had a DCS Session yesterday, and the intermittent input stutters were not that bad, could maneuver a lot whilst ground-attacking - before I'd be in trouble down low, heavily bankin' left when you cannot level out in time due to stick input not getting through is a recipe for a hole-in-the-ground. Had no such events during the last session... Maybe all the tinkering with the bodnar and all its wiring did help here... ?)
I think if you look in Options->Miscellaneous there's an option to activate ForceFeedback...
yeah, sorry I can't be of help anymore
Now it's all down to finding the gremlins in your drivers..

Latest chipset drivers are in, W10 are the only ones available me thinks (Asus Prima Z370-P)
"continuing press/push to retract/release" does it me you press the button and keep it pressed, instead of press-release-press-release?
If so, could you try and see if whilst holding the button down the stick movements in the cockpit is fluidly following the joystick itself? As in my case, whilst the button is being held down, the 'delay' occurs as well.
=====
So - I am already carefully looking into what a re-install of W10 would mean for me
(Though I will first fiddle with the mobo/chipset drivers...)
yup, I was continuously pressing the button on the bodnar to retract/lower the gear whilst controlling the plane with the joystick. I've got a bunch of junk connected to my computer, i.e.:
- vkb gun fighter pro
- vkb gladiator
- saitek x55 throttle
- virpil vpc panel
- 2 x bodnars (32 button ones)
- PCPanel - Mini (usb), for app volume control..no stutters.. I've got the MSI x570 Tomahawk wi-fi mobo + 5900x cpu.

hi, @DD_FT so I did some tests yesterday and I got zero delay/stutter with my bodnar's..
First of all I16 is a fun little plane, too bad there's no updated damage model but that's due to the closed SDK per my understanding. The landing gear mechanism is a total circus, just like the rest of the plane.
I'm still trying to figure out the logic of the drum brake that has to be in "released/fwd" position to retract the gear but in "closed/aft" position to lower the gear... scratching my head on this one..
As far as my controller test:
- assigned a rotary on the VPC panel for gear retract/lower
- assigned 2 buttons on one of my bodnars, one for retract, another for lowering
operated both the rotary and the buttons (continuing press/push to retract/release) <-- no delays/stutters.. Hotplug was disabled, didn't try it with 'enabled', saw no need for that.
Did you get the latest chipset drivers in as well ?

So, uninstall I-16, cleanup, Repair, Install I-16.
Assigned the basic stuff again, to be able to fly.
And it still occurs
Okay, @peachmonkey, I need you to try it ...
(For me, the next thing to try would probably a re-install of W10... lol)
thank you for the update, you comment about the buffer is an interesting one.
I will definitely give it a try tonight (last night hadn't worked out that well) with different controllers...
Do you have any keyboard-to-joystick virtual button mapping apps running ? (like joy2key)...

so ..
5900x + 3090+3600mhz16cal
vs
5800x3D + 3090+3600mhz16cal
who wins at VR in DCS?

e) Bodnar disconnected, One minute of Instant Action, Free Flight , issue not seen. FPS Good. Then, Hooked up Bodnar (hot-plug!), issue is there. UnHoooked Bodnar, issue stays. Restart PC.
so I re-read your points and you mentioned "hot-plug". Do you actually have it enabled or disabled in Controls? On my machine it's disabled due to the reported stuttering way back in 2018/2019. Make sure you disable it next time you test. See this topic:

The I-16 is very nice to fly - difficult take-off and landing, but it's lovely in the air...
Try it in Instant action, then you'd only have to assign the basic three axis, throttle and you're fine
Motherboard is of 2018, and yes - latest BIOS version
yup, will do tonight, although I do like learning the modules the proper way from the cold start
Upgraded BIOS is great, but also look in to getting the latest chipset drivers, lots of I/O goes through them.

So... here's more...
1) Swapped out the Bodnar board for a spare one - (slightly different model - by looks/color.)
2) Tried with both home built HAL sensors disconnected.
3) Used different USB port - it was connected to a separately powered USB hub, now on motherboard directly.
All to no avail...
It's as if every now and then an HID related buffer overflows. And it seems it's down to the Bodnar board. The issue only occurs when that one is connected.
Anyone out there using a Bodnar board and is 'flying' the DCS I-16 ??
I use the 2 x 32 button Bodnars (plus a bunch of other HOTAS/buttons/extensions, it's a circus) to fly the A8, no issues there.
I do have I16, however never even tried flying it, lol.
I guess I can give it a try and see if I run in to a similar issue.
Just out of curiosity: did you update the motherboard Chipset drivers recently? If not, give that a try, you never know if there are bugs in the USB controller chipset drivers.. If you can apply a latest BIOS as well that'd be great...

Hi all
I have a stupid question. I'm finally preparing my controls to get into the Mossie.
And when I wanna define both engine throttles with my Logitech G Saitek Pro Flight X56, I canot find the throttle controll of left and right. There is just an analog for both engines. Do I need to do something that I can select both engines individually? In Grimreapers YT tutorial it is available, but not in my settings. What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks for your support
Cheers
Markus
There's a default keyboard mapping to select the appropriate engines, which then uses the general throttle/rpm assignment, i.e. when you press 9 (both engines selected) the throttle/rpm moves for both engines (i.e you don't need to assign throttle/rpm controls PER engine)
Select active engine to both = press 9
select active engine left = press 8
select active engine right = press 0

Nice - so you are not lowering your resolution at all other than going with the default Hi setting?
yup, was running like that for the past 2 months. I tried the FSR at 80% yesterday + post processing + FixedFovRendering = can't tell if I see much of the improvement in the 'smoothness', however the map I was flying on had some serious stormy weather all the way to the deck (wwII N20 server). I'll try to dial-it in during the next couple of days, however I feel that my CPU is probably a bottleneck at this point..

Very high in VB - 37ppd.
Toolkit - 3500x2999 per eye ( it does not list percentage that I see).
Specs are in my sig - i9 9900K@5.1 GHz all cores, RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, 32 GB PC3200 CL14 DDR4 ram
Hornet Super Carrier Cold Start in Persian Gulf. I start, take off and fly around terrain a bit ( same area each time), and return for a carrier trap. FPS never dropped below 45 even on the super carrier and was pretty darn smooth all the way around. Some small what I would call micro stutters but not enough to be bothersome to me. Previously with steam VR I would be 30 fps on the carrier, and drop below 45 fps occasionally over the terrain. Definitely more stutters.
The above is the test flight I use for all my testing as I tweak. Tomorrow I will be checking out the Apache with these same settings. Much as I dislike any Mods, this one I think I am going to like for sure. Man I wish ED would put in support for Open XR natively, that would be awesome.
thanks, man..
I've been flying the wwii birds at 35ppd without the toolkit and it's a more or less smooth experience:
- flying on the deck:
looking forward: very smooth
looking to the sides: slight choppiness
- flying at 300-500meters:
looking forward: very smooth
looking to the sides: very smooth
i'll try your settings in my 5900x/3090wcooled/3800cl16 setup

can you give us some specs on your config?
- VB ppd? 35? 37?
- scaled down to what % in Toolkit?

Fair enough...
Okay kids, a show of hands, raise your hand if you were confused by WRT? If so, it stands for With Respect To...
Raise your hand if you were confused by or did not understand SOP? SOP is short for Standard Operating Procedure.
Raise your hand if you were confused by or did not understand GCI? GCI is short for Ground Control Intercept
Raise your hand if you were confused by or did not understand NJ? NJ is short for Nachtjagd, which refers to the WWII (apologies...) make that World War Two, German (in case there was some confusion concerning the nation) Luftwaffe night fighter arm. Not literally an arm mind you, more like a branch, but of a tree or river/stream.
Raise your hand if you were confused or did not understand RAF? RAF is short for the Royal Air Force, and in this context it's the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. But I confess that I took the lazy approach and did not state that I used RAF to imply the inclusion of other Royal Air Force units flying the Mosquito like the RCAF, RAAF, RNZAF and RNoAF squadrons. And for that I am greatly embarrassed and deeply humiliated.
I've raised all 5 hands. If that helps.

You can try my zip from the Varjo general guide. Those are straight from my DCS bin folder including the .ini file.
thank you, @Supmua, it looks like your .ini file is substantially different than the original .ini. I'll use your contents, will report if there are issues.
original .ini:
;Mirror mode outputs a shared texture for use by OBS plugin

; File is currently output to \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Assetto Corsa Competizione\AC2\Binaries\Win64\teststats.csv
performanceStats=disabled;Hidden area mesh fix for G2, may work on other headsets
enableHiddenMeshFix=enabled;Use OpenXR layers to handle GUI overlays and HUDs, if set to false will render internally directly onto swap chain before submitting

I had G2, then VP2, now Varjo.
Clarity bump with Varjo is dramatic, however you need the top of the top system to fully appreciate it, i.e. 3090, fast ram, latest cpu, etc. Meaning if you're running 1080p on Varjo it will look like 1080p, hence you need all of the resolution you can get to reach the experience.

Thanks much may have another look here soon!
the original file package (from the first post in this thread) just needs the dll's.
I've also tried using the openvr_api.dll from a new/updated build (https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR/-/tree/openxr) however DCS threw an error saying the .ini file was missing. I replaced it back with the old .dll file after that. Haven't messed with the .ini configs yet, maybe it just needs a blank file, maybe some config lines.. will take a look at it this week..

it's a confusing issue for sure.
I'd try the following:
1) unplug all of your HOTAS (joystick/throttle/rudder/everything)
2) remove all control assignments for each HOTAS device, i.e. blank them all out
3) start I16 in the air and control it with your mouse
a) if the issue disappears then there's some physical conflict in buttons/assignments. Try adding a single HOTAS at a time (for example: throttle only) without control assignments. If no issues - assign controls to it. Then keep adding other devices until you run into the issue again
b) if the issue persists then go to Device Manager/Human Interface drivers and start disabling all of the USB devices one by one, i.e:
- disable one then launch I16, if issue continues then re-enable it
- disable the next device, launch i16, issue continues = re-enable it back
- etc..
Question: when you said you removed I16 did you make sure all of its .lua files were gone? If not, maybe start with that first, i.e. remove i16, then clean all of its files from the DCS installation folder.

Hey guys, I've noticed some FFB related discussions, so I figured I'll jump in a bit since I'm working in the field for quite a while
So I have been developing a a plug and play FFB system for the past few years, and recently started shipping first motor kits and first 'RHINO' FFB bases. The FFB motor kit is aimed for cockpit builders and hobby mechanics who want to build their own stick/cyclic, It solves the complicated problem of system control, motor power delivery, USB communication, etc. I very much hope more people will (re)discover FFB and we, FFB users, will receive more love from ED.
Feel free to join my discord server: https://discord.gg/XEXZmQHk3T to keep in the loop about the latest developments.

Hi guys,
I have ordered a Varjo Aero. Do I need for the regular headset operation or for the Varjo Software setting hand controllers too? Unfortunately they are not available at the moment. No store has them in stock. Thank You.
make sure to use v2 base stations with Aero. Even though Varjo claims Aero supports v1 the reality is extremely poor tracking/or not tracking at all.

if you disable OpenVR in VarjoBase you'll get that SteamVR error, just fyi.

if you read the comments they all stopped working sometime in 2020, probably due to the core engine update in DCS.

I want the zero from this mod to play with the tomcat.."
