Good luck ED, you are our only hope!
aceflier replied to Mizzy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You are crazy if you think the game is going to look "BETTER" than the high polly 3dmax renders. They will likely be 2,000 to 3,000 polly those renders have got to be in the 10,000 polly range. Would be unplayable with those kinda polly on models. -
Can we please get an update on the pay-pal issue
aceflier replied to Kevlon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Rather simple why paypal doesnt work. To many complaints by paying customers to paypal and they lock your account. They do this to protect you from scammers. Not that ED is scamming anyone its just a safety thing to cover them (paypals) own ass. -
And that's a good thing I dont think SF reps would make it out the door with there heads attached. :) And I'm done ranting my credit card has done its talking.

Lets get real here. Flight sim fanatics spend a couple thousand on top of the line system to run there sims. Yet lets face it we are not trusted to throw $35 to a developer for the software for that hardware. We have all been treated like crooks. Makes no sense. In comparison I just ordered near $200.000 from newegg for a mainboard and cpu cooler. Last month I got a 6800gt/oc ($400) Maybe Abit and Nvidia will send one of there techs with the board to make sure I do everything properly. Ground myself/no overclocking and the like. This starforce is a slap in the face for people who would otherwise buy the product. If anything this has made me route for the pirates where as before I would have gladly ordered 2 copies of FC much like i did lockon 1.0.. I've supported ED with my 2 purchases of Lockon 1.0 and what did that get me? An uninvited spyware put on my pc with the 1.1 demo. (Had to reformat my pc to burn DVD/cdrom after that) Now they want me to pay to put this on my computer with my new hardware? No thanks.

Is starforce illegal? It should be! ____________________________________________ New York State Penal Law: § 156.20 Computer tampering in the fourth degree. Starforce will be at E3 this year in L.A. (booth 7522) bs'ing other developers into buying into there scheme. If you want to tell them how gamers feel about there software. :)
-
Haha im sorry it happened to you. But I am glad this is finally out there. This software should be against the law. Like i said one day there is going to be a class action over this crap. Till then all we can do is not buy games with this in it. Again I'd be more glad if it happened to some of these guys who are praising this stuff like the second comming of christ.

Starforce acceptance and results
aceflier replied to nearmiss's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Read my post above Rugg i been trying to tell people but they dont listen. ED and Starforce can do no wrong. -
Same thing happend to me with the 1 starforce game i bought. I tried to warn you guys about this but noooooo!!! Noone listened. "Starforce is the uber copywrite protection". Truth is it is nothging short of a hijacker that takes over your IDE drivers and your dvd/cdrom. Glad it finally happend so now everyone can see the light. All I can say is LOL@the people who praise this software. (Edited) Only way i fixed it was to format my comp. Enjoy your hours of reinstalling and updating drivers. GG Starforce.

Starforce acceptance and results
aceflier replied to nearmiss's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ryke those are the kind of issues that stop me from buying the game. That and starforce itself seem to like to overide your IDE drivers or cdrom if it finds anything "supspicious" on your computer. Nero ect ect. Hell, the starforce developers even BRAG about this on there site. Like its not a crime to overide someones system with this crap. -
So what is stopping people from using this method to install on a 2nd pc? I'm pretty sure you could do it and not loose an activation? Same goes for a hardware change for that matter? I wouldnt advise anyone to mess with the registry if they dont know what they are doing. (unless you are into spending alot of hours on reformatting your pc) The computer NOOBS should leave this alone. As far as this solving all the issues for the comunity I would say no. There is still the issue of SF itself being on my pc. I wont have it on mine. Others feel the same just check the poll here and at ubi.com comunity is nearly split in half of who bought it and are happy and those who arent going to buy it due to starforce being on it.

Starforce acceptance and results
aceflier replied to nearmiss's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Damn good old starforce. So then, how exactly are you going to get more activations after all are used up? Suppose they will issue a new serial number? Holding off on FC till starforce is removed. It is really a bummer I really wanted to play FC. But, you shouldn't have to do 50 things to install a game and another 7 pages of reading to activate starforce. I want to install/play. That is how any other game works. Thanks to starforce that just isnt possible for alot of people. -
This is a common problem with starforce. If you have cd/dvd burner starforce doesnt like it. I had starforce completely lock my dvd burner and could no longer play ANY of my games. Reformatting xp and throwing the game in the bin and never had a problem again. But, I dont buy starforce games for that reason either.

No sale Btw ya did somethign wrong I've got no choices to click. :) -
Ya after starforce's reputation you would think that companies would shy away from it. In the end the game will be cracked and the paying customer will be the only one screwed. And the pirates will be playing a more stable/less bug ridden product. All we can do as a gamer is just not buy these products to send a message that we will not put up with it. Otherwise we will be dealing with this for the next sim or next game we buy. I've bought only 1 starforce game. (Was my last also) As long as you people keep buying the software its never going to end. Found a good read about starforce on broadband reports that I think all should read. http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/48427 What ever happend to the good old days when developers would ask you to back up your software to make sure you had a copy should something happen to the original. Times have changed for the worse I'm afraid. Maybe x-box2 or ps3 will be my next upgrade. Why spend 1000's on hardware to play games if we the customer cant even play our games without someone looking over your shoulder. In my opinion Starforce is borderline Illegal. One day a class action will be filed and maybe then software companies will listen to the needs of the paying customer. I just dont understand why ED would take an already small comunity and throw something like this into the mix to even make it sell less. And why the delay over copy protection when they ended up just using the same thing? At any rate whats done is done nothing we can do now but speak with our checkbooks or in this case our credit cards.

Why do I lose activation when reinstalling?
aceflier replied to Kula66's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Starforce must have detected a change in airpressure. (seems it doesnt take much to set it off) put a plug in her. :) -
Might be the reason there is no reply to this question. If thats the case it would be bad for sales to disclose that information. :P

Why do I lose activation when reinstalling?

On the Ubi forums a guy plugged in his new x36 after isntalling 1.1 and it cost him an activation that is just retarded im my opinion. -

Unable to active Starforce/ FC 1.1 on WinXP64
aceflier replied to golfsierra2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
True Dayglow but we can still play janes f18 5 or 6 year later. Will said software even be around in 6 months? Not with this kinda press they wont. I went to ubi forums and put Starforce into the filter and there were 0 threads that it found. But, if you look at the forums that run this software there are 100's of posts about problems with it. Why has ubi filtered out the word if its reliable and wont effect sales? Makes you wonder or at least it does me. -

Hmmm so what happens when xp64bit (longhorn) is released? We cant play lockon 1.1? All of these problems are really starting to bug me. And they all boiling down to 1 piece of added software. Shouldnt say I told ya so but, I told ya so. -
My concern is that the Devs can answere questions on HOJ and the f15 rpm gauges but cant take 2 seconds to come on this thread and give us some feedback. After all this thread and threads like this one are taking more hits than any thread on this forum. Could it be that the answere is going to effect sales? Only the Devs know i guess pardon the term Russian roulette but im not playing.
