Removing starforce from your system
aceflier replied to aceflier's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If this is true ED have just lost not only my purchase but my respect, and any future purchases. To bundle a questionable application without the user's express permission is unacceptable. It shows lack of respect and disregard on their part. Starforce is not a questionable application. Many professionally created games use this system such at GTR, Colin Mcrae Rally 2005, and more. Starforce isn't some amateur toy, the only people who dislike it are the hackers because it forces them to take extra steps if they can even get around it such as pulling out their cd drive to play the pirated game and more. I play none of those games. Are you that much of a fanboy? I bought 2 copies of original lockon to support this dev team and they turn around and put this crap on my PC without mentioninng it in the install. You need to wake up v1.xx of Starforce has a proven backdoor to it. What version is on your system? -

Ok not knowing that the 1.1 demo included possible malware I installed it. I also now notice that starforce.exe starts up when I open the demo. I have since uninstalled the demo but starforce still is there. How do I remove this? I suspect ED should have the answere. It's ED's product? Can't seem to find any documentation on how to remove this in the demo readme or even the fact that it was being installed. GG.

LOMAC v1.1 copy protection – good news/bad news
aceflier replied to Bogun's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
In this case ED can have my money when that first person hits 3 upgrades and is still able to play his copy. Till then ED isnt getting a dime from me. I am also concerned about what 1.1 demo has put on my computer. Malware is illegal no where on that demo did it say do you consent to have malware backdoor trojan put on your system during the install. And ya what happens when microsoft spyware or norton finds this starstorm as malware and it gets removed? Sheesh what a mess. -

LOMAC v1.1 copy protection – good news/bad news
aceflier replied to Bogun's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Re: LOMAC v1.1 copy protection – good news/bad news it's not a reinstall counter, it's counter of major hardware changes, when SF will ask you for a new activation, similar to Windows XP. Anybody has a problems with activating MS Windows after hardware changes? I mean legal copies, of course. You will not need a new activation if you just reinstalling it. In other words you are buying a game that is going to take the next level of hardware for you to really max out the graphics so, you upgrade your motherboard in 1 month you have to reinstall and re activate. Next month you upgrade your processor for that board. Then next month you upgrade your ram. Your next hardware change (GPU) you will have to rebuy lockon again. No tx!! ED just lost a paying customer. It's only need to re-activate after _major_ changes, like processor or system harddrive. They are not so stupid to ask for activation every time you plug your mouse on. About vulnerability: only CD version of StarForce (called Starforce 3 Pro) was confirmed to have a "ring-0" vulnerability. Network version SF in Western release (called StarForce ProActive 1.1) might not have this issue (need to check). Point is dmut I'm on my 2nd computer in a year. About 9 hardware changes in all I cant afford to go out and buy it all at once so I have to piece it together. I plan on buildig another pc next spring. (socketA to 939) This would mean I would have to buy lockon 1.1 again. That is the worste piece of copy protection I have ever heard of. Again, costing the paying customer in the end. -

LOMAC v1.1 copy protection – good news/bad news
aceflier replied to Bogun's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If this is all true im not buying 1.1. Copy protection of any kind always screws the guy who paid for his game and it always gets cracked. Waste of money for the devs and if someone is going to pirate a game they would have never bought the game to begin with. Also, do you know how many times I've had reconfigured my hardware? 5 or 6 times in the year. that means if this is true i would have bought lockon at least 3 times. Soon to be 4 when i add another stick of ram. Rediculous. If a Dev could confirm? People arent going to buy if this is true. BTW i bouight 2 copies of original lockon on release day to support the devs. -
With the recent news of rotary not working in 1.1 for the su25 (vanilla) I'm on a quest. Actually, I need a bit of help. I use an x45 throttle w/force feedback 2 stick. And I need to be able to use the rudder on the throttle as "WINDOWS KEY" so I can use it as a shift key for the hat on my stick for trimming the su25. Anyone who can walk me through getting that working would be greatly epreciated. Tx in advance for your help.

1.1 Demo - Problems with Su-25 ALT-HOLD and Trimming
aceflier replied to Greco's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
No rotary trim? Grrr. Guess ED just added 1 flyable and took 1 away for me at least. I dont have but 3 hatswitches and the way my stick is setup one of the 4 way hats makes for alt/shft/cntrl the 2nd is gear/flaps/airbrake/wheelbrake and the other I use to look around in the pit. (Been flying lockon for over a year like this) Taking the rotary trim away for me takes the su25 away. I wouldnt mind it all that much if I could map windows key to my rudder in the throttle but for some reason it wont take. It shows in software but wont come up in game. BTW I use an x45 throttle w/ffb2 stick. -
v1.2 Market Research Poll - Ka-50 or no?
aceflier replied to SwingKid's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
After playing the 1.1 demo and seeing that i cant map an axis for trim for the su25. (works fine in the a10 :?: ) I think ED need to work on getting the product bug free before they add anymore flyables. Would also like to see a better netcode than what we currently have rather than new flyables. -
x45 trim to rotory works for a10 does not work for su25. :( works when mapped to keyboard though bummer. Hope this is fixed in 1.1. Edit.... Out of curiosity i plugged in my ffb2 stick set pitch to throttle seems its not just an x45 bug but an axis bug alltogether. The su25 will not trim on any axis. A10 works fine though. My big thought is how was this overlooked :?: Would have been the first thing I noticed in testing. Fix it plz dont want 1.1 if I have to use the keyboard on a hotas setup.

I would like to put in a request for Geometry instancing in the next installment from ED. With all the trees/buildings I'm sure lomac could benefit greatly from this. Granted the engine would have to be reworked to dx9 spec. I think dx9 would handle the fire and smoke shaders more efficiently also. The way the engine is of now everything starts in a transparent state and fades in and from my reading transparents put a large hit on the gpu. With instancing you wouldn't have to fade in the models at a distance but have them change from sprites to models at the fade distance. With the end result being a longer view distance of objects at less performance hit. Any more thoughts on this?

My current system is amd 2.4ghz xp2800 barton 1.5gb ddr400 audigy 2 plat 9800pro Now my question is is it worth the cash to go to a 6800GT OC from a 9800pro and will I notice a big performance boost? Best buy has them for $379.99 at the moment I've got my 9800pro sold for $120.00 (asuming I get this vid card) so that puts me at about $260.00 I will have to fork out for this card. Anyone got this BFG6800GT OC with a simalar upgrade that can guide my decision?

Lock On: Flaming Cliffs Distribution Option Polling
aceflier replied to Wags's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Which is why I want further information, don't try to be clever. If it isn't functional on a system where a claim has been made it is, the developers should respect that a refund is necessary. Obviously you can't send back your download. A refund is means reimbursement, not an exchange. Think you're misunderstand what I'm saying. Game developers, EA games/Valve/ED/ect ect do not give refunds on games....period.You may return a defective product for the same product but no refunds on an open product in which this case a dload is opened goods. Weather or not it runs on your rig is not part of the eula. Game Devs cant controll what kind of crap you put on your pc or if you built your pc who is to say its the game and not your hardware at fault? If you have ever returned any game and got your money back then I'm sure the Best Buy or Walmart or where ever you got the game ended up biting the $30.00-$50.00. Or, the employee of named store got it taken out of his next paycheck for giving your money back. This is just how the gamming business works. Been this way ever since I can remember. If we could all take back games weather they work or not. Developers would make no money with todays technology of CD/DVD burners. -

Yes I too would like to know what the Dload option includes. If its an ISO that I can burn to cd then I wont need the cd sent as I can back it up in case of having to do a system format. If the dload cant be backed up then of course I would like a cd that I can reinstall later if need be. More info plz Matt. -
Re: Lens flare Not possible in lomac because of the way the sky is rendered I made a lens flare mod long time ago for lomac but it was only good at high noon times. The sun is made in a box (remember the demo of the black square moon) in the sky thus the effect cannot surpass that box nor can the light emitted from the flare. The reason it didnt work right for morning/evening is because you would see that box (around the sun) when sun came up or went down. Believe me after hours of work it was a real bummer.
