Hi, We run 3 instances of DCS servers and they get restarted everyday at 5am, for some weird reason only 1 is currently showing up (public one)

Now normally when this happens and we check the dcs.log file we get error messages about not being able to report to master server, then things go back to normal when it phones in, check the log file and noticed this on our main server

2024-08-07 12:51:05.987 ERROR   ASYNCNET (6317776): HTTP request dcs:server:update failed with error 7: Couldn't connect to server
2024-08-07 12:51:06.002 ERROR   ASYNCNET (Main): Server update failed with code -7. The server will be unlisted.

on our training one we got

2024-08-07 12:50:48.159 ERROR   ASYNCNET (6318200): HTTP request dcs:checksession failed with error 7: Couldn't connect to server
    2024-08-07 12:50:48.159 WARNING ASYNCNET (6318200): Session check failed: -7
2024-08-07 12:52:10.159 ERROR   ASYNCNET (6318200): HTTP request dcs:checksession failed with error 7: Couldn't connect to server
    2024-08-07 12:52:10.159 WARNING ASYNCNET (6318200): Session check failed: -7
2024-08-07 12:52:31.685 ERROR   ASYNCNET (6318200): HTTP request dcs:server:update failed with error 7: Couldn't connect to server
2024-08-07 12:52:31.700 ERROR   ASYNCNET (Main): Server update failed with code -7. The server will be unlisted.

and on the public server (the one that is still showing up on the master list, we got this)

2024-08-07 12:52:11.032 ERROR   ASYNCNET (6318720): HTTP request dcs:checksession failed with error 7: Couldn't connect to server
    2024-08-07 12:52:11.033 WARNING ASYNCNET (6318720): Session check failed: -7

@BIGNEWY is this anything we can effect? or is it on ED's side on the master server ?

EDIT: Using direct IP and port connection we can connect to these "offline servers", so dcs server == working ok, the reporting to master looks to be a bit dodgy ?

Same issues on our three servers

There was a video from a RL A-10 pilot some years back who gave a couple tips on how to improve the (back then v1) A-10C. One of his points was he never saw an A-10 cold with flaps down but once, which was during maintenance. So the default according to him is to have them retracted. Same with air brakes (which are correctly retracted in DCS).

Could not find the video today, nor the pilot (force majeure) sadly. Had it downloaded back then and just stumbled upon the copy a day ago.

Not just pilots I reported that as a bug back in 2011 (ish) when I was still testing for ED.  Their argument was they believe when hydraulic power is gone they would droop down (which is not accurate).

  3. 17 plus years A-10 crew chief experience so my post was based on 17 years launching, fixing, recovering, and managing the flight line and hours of conversation with ops.

Out of all the hours talking with ops you often get answered that aren’t the same when talking to different pilots.  Like I said a low weight A-10 maybe but normal ops not in my experience. Take it or leave it.

PS…ED coding missing HMCS or TAD symbology would be a much better value than this IMO.

Hi. Any progress towards a fix? It seems the HMCS is affected by the NVG "blur mask" so looking down at my SPI which was below the aircraft blurs the HMCS, which kinda ruins CAS.

Also, I'm no expert but most of HMS promotional materials shows color with night vision. Since the scorpion hmcs is closest to the eye and a separate device than the NVG, wouldn't we be able to see color such as friendlies and waypoint names in blue?

    yes we should

I've always consistently heard that the "The only thing this jet does fast is slow down, and taxi". As a piece of real world evidence, they definitely taxi around at idle after a sortie. They need to have their engines in idle for at least 5 minutes prior to engine shutdown and they always idle into the chocks. You can tell by the sound of the engines, and the fact that you see the nose constantly dropping indicating brakes are being applied. On taxi out too for that matter, A lot of pilots clearly just release brakes and the plane starts moving slowly at first and accelerates without any increase in engine noise.

The A-10 absolutely can not maintain taxi speeds at idle.  She can creep slowly at idle depending on the aircraft weight and the slop of the ground but to say she can taxi at idle is wrong.

Did anything change in this regard over the last couple of years?

    Nope

I second this! It's extremely irritating having bushes and stones popping out of nowhere a few meters in front of you. And the building details. Oh my!

Impacts looking through the TGP as well would be nice at least to have buildings and vegetation appear in the TGP and not magically pop up as you get closer as well.

    That is not accurate.

The EPLRS radio doesn't care that it is on the ground and as soon as it is initialized it will try and time into the network. As long as there is line of sight to another SADL player it should work. If pilots don't see their other flight members on SADL prior to taxiing out of the chocks they call maintenance to come and fix the equipment.

Obviously SADL is more complex than the game and there are valid reasons why it might not work until after takeoff, but it is by no means the norm. You should have SADL in chocks while taxiing around.

Already said the same based on first hand real world experience 😉 and @NineLine said he would talk with the team right above your post.

    I did a quick test:

It's a weird bug, my last flight it was fine for during launch and the initial portion of the flight but halfway through the flight lost them on HMCS but could still see them on the TAD.

Team has let me know that this is correct, that you will not get DL from other aircraft unless they are airborne, no DL when they are on the ground. Thanks.

Not sure who is providing that info but that isn't correct.  Can't share the actual document due to ITAR but it does work on the ground and we often work redballs (maintenance while the pilot is in the seat during launches) and blueballs (maintenance while the pilot is in the seat during recoveries) specific to the Tactical Data Network issues.

News from ED : New units will be available in 2024 that will range from World War II to modern day. Each unit requires thousands of man-hours to create and will be provided as optional packs at their highest levels of detail.

I understand that if I want the new 3D models I will have to pay for it, like for the WWII assets pack? This one shot will become a standard in DCS ?
We're moving towards a game with two levels of modeling...😥

What can be expext in the future ?
You want a better vegetation : you have to pay for ?
You want nice new buildings : you have to pay for ?

Sorry, and this is my personal opinion, but if confirmed, I'm very disappointed by this kind of policy (even if I totally understand that ED need money to continue the development of our favourite simulation game).

I would also think creating two levels of detail for models would be double the work but maybe I’m not understanding how ED is doing this stuff.
