  1. Amazing! Thank you for granting my wish... well mostly! But now, the real question... how did you make that shot at 7:30 in your video? I guess JestHer isn't as easily impressed as I am!
  2. Thanks! That's just what I needed! It seems like ED could make it simpler and more user friendly, but at least there's a way to do it! Ah, that is quite interesting! I may have to print one out. Thank you!
  3. I currently have a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4. It has a detent right in the center of the axis. Is there any way to set it so that detent will be the exact power level between mil power and afterburner? I was playing with the axis settings and curves in the DCS menu, but not sure exactly what percentage is where the afterburner kicks in. Thank you!
  4. Thank you! I had it completely backwards! Being just a simulation, I wonder if it's possible to control the roll reversal, and if so, would adding rudder with roll reversal allow for a higher than normal roll rate?
  5. Thank you for this. A question I have about the introduction. It says: "Neutralize lateral" controls; I'm guessing that means centering the rudder. And does "directional controls" refer to the stick? So basically, hands and feet "off" until the plane stabilizes? Also, did the F-14D suffer from this as much due to the DFCS? And now, the truly important question... will studying wing rock vortices help me improve my beach volleyball float serve?
  6. Wow, that made me curious! So I had to go check it out! Here's what ChatGPT told me... So I started asking it if I could use the AI already programmed into DCS. This is our little conversation, haha! I have no idea if such a thing is possible, but that's what it told me. I do find ChatGPT quite amusing, fascinating, and rather unsettling, haha! At least it is polite!
  7. Thank you so much! Yes, that makes sense. While the proper stick is priority for me, what you said about comfort is what I'm afraid of, haha! I guess I'll have to wait to find/design a good chair with a proper cutout until I find out which rudder system I'm going to get, so I'll know the angles/reach I'll need. P.S. And also, I want to say thank you to you and your team for making dreams come true! Tomcats Forever! ♥
  8. I've been looking to upgrade to a new flight stick, and I really like VKB's F-14 Combat Edition, so I was going to get the Gladiator NXT version. But after flying the Tomcat more with a Thrustmast T.Flight Hotas 4, I've really noticed that it's difficult for me to hold a sustained turn without bleeding most of my energy because of the... what would you call it... short length of pull? So I have to be extremely gentle to get the stick to pull just the right amount. In turn, that has made me reconsider my decision, and just save up for the Gunfighter Mk.III. So my question is this: does anyone know the length of the actual F-14 flight stick? Basically, how long of a "lever" is it? And which of the Gunfighter versions would simulate it the best? The Tabletop (doubtful), the Pro-S (100mm extension), or the Pro-L (200mm extension)? I'm leaning toward the Pro-L for the extra length for more precise control (and it's so pretty). But maybe it's too long to be accurate? Thank you!
  9. Thanks. Yes, I noticed that about the RAM. I'm still trying to find out more info about which speed to get (different sites say different things). So if 3200mhz is best, that should save a little more that I could put toward cooling. Speaking of which... Cases are one thing I'm not sure how to fully judge the quality of. My build is based on a blend of these two recommendations from the site... https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/DWv6Mp/entry-level-amd-gaming-build https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/cpkcCJ/great-amd-gaming-build I wasn't sure if the case that came with the first one would provide enough cooling... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0785GRMPG?th=1 Although, reading over it again, it may be the better choice (assuming it's big enough). I did see that the Zalman comes with 3 fans preinstalled, and has room for 5 more, though, and it's a bit bigger, so that's why I put it on my list. I'll have to look more into other cooling options also... and check the PSU options for more wattage. Nothing is set in stone yet, haha! But I do appreciate all the suggestions!
  10. Thank you for the suggestions! I've been reading and searching. Assuming I don't go for the 5800X3D for VR (which I haven't ruled out), this looks like a possible build (minus the GPU) to get me started... https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vdNG4s Though if anything clearly jumps out as a bad idea, it would be good for me to hear so I can fix it, haha!
  11. Thanks, guys. Yes, the plan is to build a new computer from scratch (unless I see a good deal on a decent prebuilt). It looks like I may just go for a "stop-gap" PC to hold me over until I can really get into the AM5 generation tech. So I may go for something like a 5600, then try to find a GPU at its level. It looks like I'll probably get a GPU last, though. While my RX 580 may be the weakest link in the new build, it can at least run the game decently on lower settings. I just gave it a test on my Windows 10, and it still works enough to fly. I'm starting to think that I need to upgrade my stick/throttle even before my GPU, else I will be flying a very pretty plane straight into the ground, haha!
  12. Thank you. I think for now, 1080p maxed out at 60fps is my first target. I just got TrackIR, so VR isn't a necessity.
  13. Hello! I'm using a 10-year old PC (i7-4820k and DDR3 RAM), so I'm really needing a new build for DCS. But I'm not quite sure what I should aim for. Right now, I'm looking to play at 1080p at 60hz (I do love my 60-inch tv, so why not use it?). And I currently have an RX 580 GPU. I'm curious what kind of performance and quality the GPU can handle on DCS if it weren't limited by my dinosaur of a computer (I can't even get the game to launch anymore on Windows 8.1). I was about to jump on an RX 6750 GPU deal, but figured I needed to first get a system to actually put it in. And I'm also not sure if such an extreme GPU upgrade would even be warranted for 1080p. As for the CPU, I've read that a 5600 is decent for gaming in general, and quite affordable, though I am truly tempted to go for the 5800X3D, especially for VR. I know AM4 is on the way out, but I'm sure it is still a completely different world from my current PC. I am looking for a budget build, though. There's no specific budget, but the less it is, the faster I'll be able to play. What kind of performance should I expect if I were to play with a 5600 and an RX 580, even if I have to wait to upgrade later for VR? What kind of GPU would not bottleneck the 5600? What CPU/GPU combination would it take to run non-VR DCS at 1080p on high/ultra setting at a minimum of 60fps (especially on a multiplayer server)? I'm so ready to finally take full advantage of the F-14 module... I just need a new engine for it! Thank you! :-)
  14. Thanks, will do
  15. I don't know if Heatblur has any control over mirrors, or if I have overlooked the option, but would a "simple mirror" give any added performance to a struggling CPU/GPU? Turning off mirrors completely seems to help performance a lot, but for the F-14, being able to see the wing position and vapors at a glance are very helpful to judge the state of the aircraft/energy while maintaining forward visibility. Unfortunately, those visual cues require all of the performance hits of full mirrors. So would it be possible to have a "simple mirror" option that displays only the aircraft/vapors on top of the blurred image that you see when the mirrors are off? Even if it is a lower detailed model than you would get if you had "full mirrors." The presence of a pilot "reflection" in this mode isn't important to me, but wing angle is. Vapors would be icing on the cake. With the way mirrors work in DCS, I don't know if it would help performance much, but I don't know until I ask. So I humbly submit my request here. No matter what, I still want to thank the team for the best F-14 simulation I'm aware of! You make dreams come true!
  16. I'm a radar/jamming rookie, so I'm just asking a silly question, but... I suppose the AIM-54 doesn't have some sort of functionality to initially loft in HoJ mode, then somehow communicate/triangulate range to target to the mothership based on something similar to Link-4C, or even activating its radar while in HoJ mode to test if it has passed burn-through range, and, if so, relay that range back... correct? If burn-through range is generally 20+ miles in reality (I have no clue), then it seems it would have been beneficial to program an initial loft profile into HoJ mode, assuming that if the launch is within 20 miles of the target, the mothership would have already burned-through the jamming range, meaning it wouldn't be practical to launch in HoJ mode in the first place. I don't know how the AIM-54 was actually programmed in reality. Is it the missile itself that tracks the jamming signal, independent from the mothership? If so, it really does seem more logical to have a high initial loft, then try to find and track the jammer once it gets altitude. Or at least a moderate loft that keeps the jamming signal within its tracking limits. That way, if the target is far away, it could have a shot at reaching it, but if the target is rather close, it could just dive back down on top of it. But again, I'm no missile programmer. I just assume the real AIM-54 engineers to be much smarter than I am in this case!
  17. I just want to say that I'm still amazed by Jester and everything he does, so I want to thank you guys for putting so much work into him (and the whole F-14 experience)! This is coming from a singleplayer flyer, so I truly appreciate it! P.S. If you're taking requests for the overhaul, is there any chance of adding the option for Jester to be a hot blonde chick who constantly praises my skills and strokes my ego with her sultry voice? You know, for squadron morale!
  18. I've been curious about something. The disclaimer at the bottom of the DCS menu screen says this: That got me thinking about modules such as the F-14 (my favorite plane and the one module I own... and I want to thank Heatblur and everyone involved in its creation). If the disclaimer is true, does that mean that Grumman (in whatever form it is today) has/had no input or legal connection to the DCS F-14 module? Or any creator of any plane that has the plane's name and/or likeness in a DCS module? I've also seen content creators (specifically DCS players) sell merchandise/accessories with the likeness of planes/parts including the F-14. Is there licensing involved or royalties paid (even for creating a DCS module)? What is the legality of doing so? Thank you!
  19. Ah, so that is the reason that Maverick was always drenched in sweat and attracted to a guy named Iceman?
