  1. And another thing I just now realized (because I am so dumb when it comes to desktops as this will be my first) is that I just found out that the Motherborad suggested for this build won't work for me because I don't have Ethernet in my part of this ancient town so I will need a Motherboard with its own Wifi. I can only get the Internet here by using a portable Wifi/Router. A 4X3 inch flat gadget with a battery inside. The Motherboard will have to connect to that without using a cable. Unless I waste a USB port on a donble or something.
  2. .... and the 4070 proposed for my build is at the bottom of the orange list ...... !!!
  3. Yeah, I think I will just get the 64GB right away. Also, another builder told me that in his opinion, if there is a weak link in this build its the 4070 and I might think about getting the 4070 Super instead of the regular 4070. I'm wondering how much actual difference there will be between the 4070 ti and the 4070 S and just going with the 4070ti. Getting the Super may be a stretch for me. My first choice was for this rig was a 3080ti and then upgrade to the 50xx in several years, but here in this market 3080ti are harder to find and it's cheaper almost to get the 4070.
  4. Just to let you all know, the RAM is 32GB G.Skill RIPJAWS S5 6000MHz, CL36 ...and I'm in St Petersburg, Russia
  5. This all fascinating stuff! I'm wishing I had the resources to assemble this new PC myself. I looked into it but in my location, and situation, it is difficult to obtain the components without making the assembled PC more expensive than me having someone else build it for me.
  6. Yeah, I'm thinking 3TB is minimum. In my old gaming laptop I have 2.5TB altogether with the OS using 500GB on its own SSD. Leaving 1TB for DCS and 1TB for my files and programs. Well, the SSD which DCS and another game (which I don't even use) is on is full enough and the SSD for my files and programs, though not full, is on its way!
  7. Thanks for that. Also I just realized that the ID-Cooling ZOOMFLOW 240X in those specs is a water cooled system. This was suggested to me by the seller however, I was wondering if a water cooled rig was a good idea or not. I don't know much about them but I assume they'd be a pain in the ass.
  8. I will check but I think this motherboard has 4 RAM slots. If so, I can add 2 more 16 gb sticks in later. The other question I have, is what do you all think about starting out with two sticks or 24gb RAM instead of the 16gb sticks?
  9. Well, I will have the OS installed on the SSD that is included in those specs. I have two more 1,000GB M.2 sticks already which will be added. One stick has DCS on it already and the other M.2 has my files on it, Documents, Music etc. I am assuming that I can just plug these in, and good to go, for now.
  10. I am considering this rig setup for a new computer for DCS. I don't do VR btw. I will be using a 1440 Monitor Do you think it will run DCS at a respectable level? AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Palit GeForce RTX 4070 GamingPro ASRock B650 Pro RS 32GB 6000MHz ADATA LEGEND 710 (1000gb) ZALMAN GigaMax III 850W ID-Cooling ZOOMFLOW 240X Cougar Airface RGB Any help at all is more than welcome EDIT: Oh yeah... I forgot..... I do mostly Multiplayer.
  11. I read a bunch of pages here. In a former life I was Cowboy... a real one. What I learned was.......... "You gotta ride for the brand." That means 'be loyal'. And I been riding for the ED brand for quite a number of years. ED is not trying to rip anyone off! Some of you all need to stop freaking out. Regards, Bronco
  12. Call sign "Bronco"

  13. If you VR you might want it! SimXR, from the the creator of FSRealistic, launches to change the game for VR simmers in MSFS - MSFS Addons
  14. Cold War Era ground pounder - That few seemed to want of those who talked about it on the DCS forum 8 or 9 years ago. I wonder if they are ready for one now.....now that we have quite a number of first line fighters available. It would fit the Enigma Server better than A-10
  15. Thank you all for your effort ....... I did find out the solution to this ....sort of..... I'll explain, I updated my Graphics Card and the FPS started working fine right away .... But here's the kicker. I thought I already had updated the Graphics Card along a number of other things a few weeks back. But for some reason it seems that a number of things had reverted back to an earlier version of the drivers. I have no idea how or why that happened. So I am updating everything again. Weird eh! The solution was to Update the Graphics Card Driver.
  16. I managed to complete a DCS Repair using SkateZilla. It wasn't easy because I already have major PC problems unrelated to DCS. In fact, I may have to buy a completely new PC setup soon. For your information, I am using a Gigabyte Aorus 7 SA 17.3" notebook. It began randomly restarting itself a couple of months ago. Mostly when it becomes hot.... but not always. Mostly while DCS is running after a while. It restarted itself a bunch of times while trying to do the DCS repair. I finally got it done after turning it off for 8 hours. I've tried everything to fix this too. Including, pulling it apart cleaning it, and applying new thermal paste. In fact I've applied new thermal paste three times last week to make sure I was using the correct amount. I've run out of options to do, to fix the random restarts, other than reformatting the OS. Anyway, it seems, no matter how expensive my laptop is, it will need replacing every 3 years.... and I am getting tired of it. Due to circumstances I've had to use a laptop for DCS all these years but circumstances have changed now and I am thinking about buying my first desktop PC rig, ever (I know nothing about them.) At the moment I am just reading reviews of gaming rig setups including monitor size and 1440 vs 1080, which generation core etc....in order to understand what I need or want. EDIT: Oh btw ... I did the full slow repair and DCS FPS counter is still frozen at 40.
  17. No. That didn't help. But it did make me sign in again to DCS and all my keybindings were gone. So I renamed it back to what it was to get it all back. I haven't done a repair yet I'll do that tomorrow.
  18. I read that. I don't have it. Interestingly 3RD PARTY app says "40" too. I wasn't expecting that.
  19. I went through that thread and tried everything applicable and still no change for me. I'll try a 3rd party counter and see whar happens.
  20. This should be of interest to all of our WWII Warbird flyers. Especially those of us regulars on "Project Overlord" server by 4YA which tries to recreate the very same historical time frame and place in which these pilots talk about, in the video. While watching this vid I could feel my stable of warbirds calling to me.
  21. It seems that this is for someone using VR, which I am not, as I have no idea what any of this means. and btw I usually get between about 55 to 70 FPS
  22. Thanks...but that didn't work.....just tried it in both a mission and multiplayer and nothing changes. FPS just sits there saying 40
  23. For the last couple of weeks the FPS counter says 40 no matter what. Occasionally it will flicker and show 38 for a split second. I was hoping the recent update would fix it ..... but no! No limiters are set for FPS either in DCS or Nvidia. Any clues what to try?
  24. Pilots say that in real life one can't get a visual on another plane that is more than 5 miles away.
  25. Though I am subscribed to Spudnocker's channel I never saw this YT video. Or maybe I did, filled it out and then forgot about it. But I would agree that the F-18 has a much more pilot friendly avionics system than the F-16. I have both of these aircraft modules and bought the F-16 not that long after I bought the F-18 with the Supercarrier. Maybe that's why I haven't got around to really learning the F-16 yet. I've attempted a couple of times to study it, but went back to finishing my schooling on the F-18. I find the F-16 avionics way too ambiguous and also primitive for my taste. Or maybe it's because I was so determined to be the best Naval aviator on the Supercarrier. I really like the challenge of landing on the carriers. It's rather odd, because when I was younger and just wanted to fly, going in and out of recruiting offices etc, and first was thinking about joining any air force that would take me I didn't really consider the navy as first choice for fear of landing on a carrier. lol! It used to seem like a crazy idea to me. But I will get around to finish learning the F-16 at some point. It's one hell of a hotrod!
