Its funny, i was having trouble on the latest patch with aircraft disappearing due to what I thought was ghosting. So I thought why not try MSAA again, just for the hell of it... and what do you know, it works again!

Since the last update, MSAA now seems to be working...

Hi, following the most recent update to DCS, I've had a real problem with spotting aircraft. Specifically, aircraft appear almost invisible at a certain distance. Below is an example of what I mean, these shots were taken from the same reply file, the first is from the current DCS version 2.9.17.11733 and the second is form version 2.9.16.10973 which I rolled back to in order to test. Note: I have not changed any settings either game or graphics card in both these shots, the only change is the version of DCS. Whilst the older version screenshot isn't great at picking out a FW190 Dora, the new version is also completely invisible at the same distance. As it stands for me, dogfighting is no longer feasible as I cannot see the other aircraft. meaning new campaign that I bought (wolfpack 2) is unplayable.

Has anyone tried fighting the AI Corsair and find they get annihilated every time or is it just me? I normally fight against Ace level AI and 9/10 will beat all other aircraft with ease, however with the Corsair it seems to be able have aimbot accuracy and perform manoeuvres with limitless amounts of energy. I'm a veteran of 4 years of warbird dog-fighting so I'm no amateur, but this AI Corsair is crazy! I though against it at 'ACE', got destroyed, then 'veteran' with same result and no noticeably drop in Corsair performance. Its like the Mig-15 of warbirds...

Even after a fix for the horn being constantly 'on'. I'd like to see an option to disable it completely, very annoying sound.

haha good one, didn't see that one coming

DLSS update has made a notable difference, less ghosting, sharper image and AA. so far so good

Dogfighting is really getting me annoyed
Ghost79 replied to Alphagamer1981's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
In the Spitfire, against pretty much everything (except I-16) all you need to do is - Turn. The Spit will out turn anything and is your friend both offensive and defensive. Bandit on your 6? just perform a tight turn and he wont be able to keep with you. If he carries on trying to turn with you, eventually you will turn the tables. Spit doesn't climb or dive as well as the other WW2 aircraft, its all about the "turn". -
I'm wondering if this is actually Caucasus 2.0. The first part of the Video showcased the dynamic campaign over Georgia, the palm trees featured around this point too. And... if you go onto google maps and look at say downtown Poti on street view, you can see plenty of palm trees. Just my theory.

I got that bus on my playthrough. Very amusing . "You cant park that there mate!"

Regarding the AI not detecting targets through fog, does this extend to clouds or is that WIP?
-
@BIGNEWY or someone at ED, can you explain the above for me please?
-
Can someone elaborate on this please? targets and shooting detection by AI units as well as launchers' line-of-sight routines are revised, major parts of the performance-consuming code moved to a parallel thread. specifically the first part.

Can i just say i liked the way this last patch was released, in that there was no "planned" date 2 or so weeks ahead. It was released the day the patch was ready. personally, this is how i would prefer future releases, takes away the disappointment of last minute delays.
-
Agree with the OP, very glary cockpit and yes, on one mission i jettisoned it completely.
-
Nosewheel steering feels very sensitive, wasnt like this before the recent update. I've had to resort to using differential breaking to stear on the ground.
-
I had to completely remap my controls for the Sabre after this latest patch. The aircraft seems bugged in a few areas too... The lack of sound in the cockpit, wrong gun sounds, nose wheel steering has become over sensitive and the feel of the flight model seems... different.
-
Ive modelled a flight panel for the weapons console, but the one i really want to model the adf panel. but the problem is how the tuning mechaniam works i.e. how the band selector and fine tuner work and how can i replicate it to work in DCS?

The art of MMMM: Mentally Managing Multiple Modules.
Ghost79 replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
Great topic! For me, i mainly fly allied WW2 aircraft. Therefore its not so much of a challenge to remember systems and it's fairly easy to switch between aircraft. Other than the WW2 planes I regularly fly the Viggen and occasionally the F86 Sabre. I have dabbled with a couple of more modern jets with the M2000 and the harrier, but these are complex (especially the harrier). Though due to their complexity i rarely fly them and are just used to play with things like laser guided bombs and BVR. Going forwards i wont be getting many more jets (F100 and/or F104), i can't manage/remember all those systems. But will still invest in warbirds. -
Patch notes are up...

Normandy is the better map. In my opinion the detail is better than the channel map. But perhaps most importantly it covers a greater area and encompasses the channel map area anyway. To me, it seems that the channel map is dead and the future is Normandy for WW2 ops.
-
Thanks Fenrir Yes, i would still like to know if the channel map still has a future as per my original post. Looks like its been abandoned and all WW2 europe stuff is focused on N2.
