Mission issues ...Normandy 2.0
Ghost79 replied to Droning_On's topic in Spitfire LF Mk.IX The Big Show Campaign
yep, i share your frustrations with the AI, both air units and super accurate AAA. I thought it was just me thinking i was always the one being picked on in a furball. come on ED sort the AI out... also, the AI aircraft seem to be able to take a hefty amount of damage before going down (im looking at you FW190A). -
Wait or keep playing? (Normandy 2)
Ghost79 replied to DimSim's topic in Spitfire LF Mk.IX The Big Show Campaign
nah go for it, the Normandy 2 map is stunning! i just played through mission 02 on the new map and had a blast! -
i also turn it on just out of habit and as noted above, its the proper procedure to do so.

Possible MT bugs in campaign
Ghost79 replied to Ghost79's topic in Spitfire LF Mk.IX The Big Show Campaign
with mission 2, in previous attemps i've always lagged behind after the climb to 22,000ft. but ive always managed to catch back up by applying more power when level at 22k. so when i lost sight of the flight this time, my first thought was "i need to catch up". so i go high rpm, up the boost and cut the estuary turn slightly. nothing, not another spit in sight. i went on at >280mph, but nothing. for mission 03, i took great care to navigate to the RV point. the returning escort fighters appeared as normal. followed by the radio announcement to "look for the bombers". but the bombers never appeared, i ended up going so far south i flew off the map boundary. the only mod i have is the A4 skyhawk, nothing else. missions worked fine previously with the A4 installed. i will try again and see what happens. -
i've played through this campaign once already and it is a fantastic experience! however, i've gone back and replayed some of the missions and odd things are occurring. for example, on mission 02, when the formation of spits gets to the estuary, all of the ai dissapear apart from my wing. they later re-appeared almost by magic when the engagement started. also just now, playing mission 03, the bombers and attacking luftwaffe never appeared checked my destination and height via the f10 map, yep im in the correct place, the 2 flights of escort fighters passed, but no bombers. i've made sure the no force from mission option is unchecked in the settings menu. is this a potential MT bug? it all worked fine prior to that update or am i doing something wrong?

totally agree, its a bit over the top. in dogfights i tend to flip the canopy open to sort of mitigate this issue.

GRUPP Setting yielding erratic results
Ghost79 replied to TheSkipjack95's topic in Bugs and Problems
i've never been able to get hits with Grupp and have given up on it. the criteria seems to be too strict on what constitutes a 'group'. i understand the options Grupp gives you, being able to target ships beyond the first row. But i just settle for Enkel, less frustrating to use, at least you know you have a good chance of hitting. -
Did they scale back the damage on the .50 cals again
Ghost79 replied to Gunfreak's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
not sure if its just the 0.5 cal, i seem to be forever hitting Anton's with my Spitfires 20mm and the damn thing keeps on flying. i dont have the the same issue with 109's though... -
i'm also fairly new on the Spitfire, i've picked up the operation Epsom campaign. This campaign is similar to the P51 charnwood campaign and has a mixture of ground attack, recce and the occasional air intercept. Overall its a good campaign, but theres too much focus on ground strikes for my liking, spitfire is not known for ground attack and more suited to air combat. also the German AAA is stupidly accurate making some of the ground attack missions frustrating (in my opinion).

4 january 2023 DCS 2021/2022 and Beyond Video feature Updates?
Ghost79 replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
A4 skyhawk featured a couple of times, official mod perhaps? -
i think this was the problem for me, prior to the update i could lock targets without having to uncage the maverick. now i have to press T1. thought i was going mad.
-
has anyone had any joy with the new Mavericks? ive struggled to get locks on anything, though i did manage my first lock and hit on a building. i guess the old locking system was a bit too good. i could lock a small tank in a dense forest

I'm a bit confused as to the application of the 'Pulse Length Selector' option for the Radar, the manual states the following: "Pulse length selector / PULS/ NORMAL KORT: Toggles pulse length to compensate for brief returns." What would be the practical application of this feature and is it modelled in the game?
-
A question for the developers, are there any plans to implement the anti-jamming function for the Viggens radar? i ran into a situation recently on a naval recce mission where it would have been really useful.
-
Problem i had whenever i've tried an ELINT mission, is that even when i get sufficient hits at various angles to a source, the result is nowhere near the actual radar location. The data tells me its worked out the exact location, but when i check on the mission editor, nope, not even close, a good 10km off. Its a shame as i like the idea of flying more ELINT missions, but i guess this is the level of tech available. I can still tell what the source probably is though, so its not all bad

Im a year long veteran flying the F86 in DCS and whilst i really do like the aircraft ive got frustrated with a number of issues with it 1) speed of the bullets (already reported many times i know ) 2) bullet damage, today i hit a mig15 81 times and the thing still kept flying! Later i managed 102 hits (including 48 while the mig was on the ground) and it still lived!!!! What are these bullets? Blanks! 3) aircraft noise intermitently stops 4) radio intetmitently stops working - the comms menu doesnt appear. Caused me to abort a campaign mission half way through because of this. Im sure theres more, but all this adds up to a very frustrating experience with the sabre. This wonderful looking aircraft desperately needs some attention, im now at the point where im giving up on it for the tine being ☹ Now... Wheres my Viggen?

F-86F - Every Man a Tiger mini Campaign
Ghost79 replied to catt42's topic in User Created Missions General
Just recently downloaded this campaign and played mission 1. A fantastic first mission, hopefully more to come in the next 3. You can see a video of my 2nd attempt at mission 1 here: -
I've tried auto release a few times but never managed to get the bombs to leave the aircraft and i eventually gave up. Be interesting to hear from someone who can get it to work consistently. For what its worth, when i bomb in manual mode, to start with my bombs were always going long. I established that this was due to not trimming the aircraft to a stable point during the dive. But i dont know how this would affect auto bombing.
-
Solved it... I had previously installed vJoy, which was found to be causing a conflict. Removed vJoy, trim now working fine.
-
Anyone having problems not being able to trim the Sabre? I can see the trim hat moving but its not actually trimming the aircraft. I thought it might be my controls but all my other aircraft are fine, just the Sabre.
-
Has anyone had the chance to see if there is any noticeable difference in performance of the GAR-8? Todays update states "performance correction". Is the missile oerformance any better? Or it is still as bad as ever?
-
+1 to this, i love flying the F86 but it needs a little TLC.
-
Never mind, found the answer in the bugs section, turns out the Viggen can't detect signals from some search radars.
-
I've been doing some testing with the ELINT on the Viggen over the last couple of days with very mixed results... In particular there seems to be some oddities with certain units, I tested against Russian SAM systems and found that the P19 Flat Face radar gave this spurious sent of data: Band: A, PRF: 0, Broadcast: 0.2, Silent: 0.1 Not only this but the RWR does not detect any radar signals from this unit. At first I thought this might be a bug with the unit, but the the Harrier picked it up perfectly. Note: I have been able to successfully identify some units with the Viggen i.e. SA8 (Band: B, PRF: 2800, Broadcast:0.1, Silent: 1.7) so I don't think there is anything wrong with my technique in setting the Viggen up correctly. I've noticed the ELINT data no longer matches the data tables in Chuck's guide, but this could be old data. I am also seeing the same with the 1L13 EWR and the Sborka 'Dog Ear', I've not had the chance to test everything but it seems that not all radars are being picked up by the RWR and give the same spurious ELINT data as above. On a side note, the results of the radar location are always far off from the actual radar location, no matter how many different angles I fly at the radar there doesn't seem to be any accuracy or consistency as to the results, although this could be normal. Either I'm doing something drastically wrong or the ELINT/RWR system is a little bugged.

DCS: AJS-37 Patch Dec 23rd 2021 - Feedback Thread
Ghost79 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Bombing works, it was just me
