Lol I have done

Excitng email from Virpil this morning. Looks like they're ready for despatch along with the counter balance and damper kits.
-
Thanks for your reply @Nightdare. I messaged Virpil yesterday and they said in the UK at least the damper kit will be ready for shipping in early Feb... although that may have just been my particular order thinking about it. As a gesture of goodwill They are going to split my order and send the pedals this week though.
-
After years of the Saitek Combat pedals I started saving last week for some Virpil ones along with the damper. Today my wife gave me the extra 200 quid so I could order them. I'm hoping my performance in the Apache will improve even more with the increased precision. I'm really interested in the Damper, has anyone got their hands on it yet? What are your thoughts on it?
-
You're welcome

My impatience got the better of me so I contacted Virpil. They've said looking at the end of January for the first ones to go out.
-
Came here to ask the same question. I ordered it at half 7 on the 20th October from the UK store having recently managed to resolve an issue with my CM3 base that i've had for a year and get back in the Apache i'm now more keen to get this grip.
-
Mongoost CM3 base also good for jets, or just helis?
Turd Ferguson replied to eFirehawk's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I've got a CM3 and it works well for both Helicopters and fixed wing. I tend to use a 20cm curved extension for Helicopters and a 10cm straight one for fixed wing. I use the hard centre Avia cam, with the spings and clutches so readily accessible it's effortless to switch between the 2. -
I've been having a nosy at their website this afternoon and spotted the damper kit. Looks like that's made the decision a lot easier @Qsenox
-
Appreciate it thanks @Qsenox

I've been using the Saitek Combat rudder pedals for a few years but would like to upgrade. Primarily I fly Helicopters so thinking the Torq pedals will be good. However I also fly planes too so the toe brakes are handy. Can the ACE pedals be used like Torque pedals so the pedals stay in place when you take your feet off them or is that just the Torq set? Thanks

How could I be such a moron🤦♂️
Turd Ferguson replied to Turd Ferguson's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I think for this issue it was VPC that caused it. Neutral was calibrated slightly up and left of where neutral actually was so even when the stick was dead centre it was pulling back and right. If I didn't need to remap my Huey controls i'd never have thought to check it. I'm just happy to be flying semi competently again. -
I have been struggling for months with the Apache and tonight I found out why So I bought the Apache on release and flew it quite successfully for several months with a Warthog stick and Virpil Collective. Then last December I upgraded my stick to a Virpil CM3 and 20cm extension. I calibrated it in the VPC software and again was flying it quite well, able to hold a stable-ish hover and thanks to the clutches in the gimbal could hold a constant altitude without too much effort compared to the Warthog. After a couple of weeks I packed my flight sim gear away and didn't touch DCS for a while. When I came back to it I was unable to lift off without the Apache rolling right onto it's rotors and if I could get into the air flying was such an effort i lost interest. Curves, Deadzones, Saturation nothing worked. After watching Casmo's video about the flight model I thought that must be the issue. Over the last few months I've set up my flight sim setup and tried sporadically but always had issues so packed it up again after an hour or so. Even all the tutorials on YouTube didn't help. I did notice that while flying fixed wing aircraft there was a persistent roll to the right (which should have been the clue to tonight revelation I suppose). I wanted to try and master it so after work today set up my desk and jumped in the Huey as prior to the Apache had been quite good in it. My Controls had reset themselves somehow and needed remapping. I went into the axis menu and noticed straight away once pitch and roll were mapped a white line maybe 5mm long under each axis even though my stick was dead centre. Somehow my VPC software had recalibrated neutral up and to the left of where centre actually was and for the last 6 months or so everytime I tried to fly the Apache... and the Gazelle I found out a few weeks ago my stick had a constant back and right applied to it which I was flighting against everytime I tried to fly it. After recalibrating in VPC the white line under the pitch and roll axis has gone, i'm able to take off smoothly, get into and hold a stable-ish hover and can now enjoy being back in the Apache instead of finding it such a chore that I largely lost interest in DCS World. I've been out of the Apache for about a year and found i'm quite rusty but i'm happy that I've finally figured out that DCS wasn't the problem it was the moron sat in front of it.

Hi there, Has anyone mamaged to attach a Virpil collective to one of these at all? I'd planned to get the NLR Boeing in a week or two however i also have a Virpil collective plus the Apache grip on order. Don't want to shell out if there's no way to attach it. Hoping someone can tell me either way. Thanks Turd

I've also had a problem with trim during the F-14A cold start IA on the Sinai map. Tried it twice now and both times I'm unable.e to trim for landing. Despite trying to trim for on speed nothing happens the needle doesn't move either. Checked my control bindings, have nose up trim mapped to down, down left and down right on the VFX grips hat but nada when in flight. It might be something I'm doing but I've managed lots of landings previously I've also had a problem with trim during the F-14A cold start IA on the Sinai map. Thanks for the replies both. That does sound like something that'll be up my street @Victory205. From the Podcasts i've watched featuring him he seems like a really nice chap, fascinating life too. I'll give it a look Thanks for the recommendation.

Hi, Not sure this is the correct place for this however as he was an F-14 guy thought it fits. Does anyone know of any books avaIlable in the UK either by or about Hoot Gibson. I have found one about the WW2 Dive Bomber but it's the F4, F-14, Test Pilot, Astronaut i'm looking for. I saw an interview with him the other day and am fascinated by his life. I've searched Google but no joy.

Phantoms Phorever. PRE-ORDER & REVEAL Trailer
Turd Ferguson replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
@IronMike If I pre-order the founders edition from the HB store can the module be activated on Steam? -
Hoping before December... it's my wife's Christmas present to me
-
Just ordered it from the UK Store, counter weights are also available.

Hi @Phantom711 thanks for your reply. I'm still not able to replicate what Casmo did in that video however have found a workable solution to it. I start with the Throttles in Idle then once I hit the JFS, lift the fingerlifts and bring the throttle fully aft. Once the readout gets to 26 push the throttle forward to spool the engine. Shutown is as in Casmo's video though. When I start with the throttles fully aft the engines fire up when I hit the JFS. It's not quite the same but it's working well.
-
Thank you for the replay @MustangSally. That doesn't sound quite what Casmo has done here. Unfortunately the video doesn't explain how to set True False on buttons.
-
Hi, I ordered an Orion 2 and F15 grips with fingerlift 13 days ago. It arrived at my door In Cornwall UK 6 days later. Having bought lots from Virpil I was expecting a month at least so thanks to Winwing for their speedy delivery. The issue I have is setting the fingers lifts up as Casmo demos to get them to work in the F-15E. He mentions he had then set to false which didn't work so he set them to True. I don't know if that is in DCS or Simapppro though. Can't see anyway to do it in the settings of DCS or an option in Simapppro. Could someone who's managed to get this working tell me what this means and where to set the finger lift buttons to true please? Thanks

Suggestion for A.I. Air Refueling in Single Player
Turd Ferguson replied to =Skywarp='s topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Having had the Tomcat since launch day and manging to tank a grand total of twice i'd appreciate this feature -
Thanks @MustangSally do you know what is meant by duel throttle connectors and if I ordered that would it not have finger lifts? One option when ordering is finger lifts and the other is Duel Throttle Connectors. Not sure what the difference is.
