SimPit Pilot Office Chair Hybrid Build
CrashMeTwice replied to CrashMeTwice's topic in Home Cockpits
Thank you so much! At the time I was chair shopping I looked at so many of them that I had nightmares about them:) I finally decided on a chair I have seen on Wallmart, and it seemed to me that it was the most robust one of the bunch (Serta Big & Tall Office Chair, Brown Bonded Leather). I was right, this one has a half inch wood seat plate. It also offered steel arm rests which begged me to mod. Thanks for the tip, I will look into the Simshaker Sound module.- 7 replies

SimPit Pilot Office Chair Hybrid Build
CrashMeTwice replied to CrashMeTwice's topic in Home Cockpits
First, I drilled out (enlarged) the mounting holes of the bass shaker to 1/4" and used 1/4" self tapping sheet metal bolts. Make sure they are long enough to go through the wood on your chair but not to long that your upholstery get's ruined or punch holes in your butt when you sit on it Thus, depths of the bolts depends on your chair just make sure it's neither to long or to short. Drill small 1/16" pilot holes. In addition I gave the bolts a good amount of wood glue as I can't use Loctite in wood. Make sure you test the shaker before installing then let it sit for 24 hours for the glue to cure before running the shaker. This worked fine for me. Watch the video for bolts and washers I used.- 7 replies

Hi to all Pilots, hope you are all doing well and having a great day! Today I would like to share with you my latest project in which I am modding an office chair into a helicopter SimPit seat and added an amazing working bass shaker to feel the chopper by the seat of my pants I had a lot of fun building this within the last couple of weeks. I would appreciate you comment. For the video, I have the first part of the video edited and uploaded to YouTube. Hope to finish the second part within a couple of weeks. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

DIY VIRPIL WarBRD Rudder Pedals Damper Mod
CrashMeTwice replied to CrashMeTwice's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I finally finished the switch-box for the WarBrd. All is working and I am just pleased on how everything works now. Next on my Simpit list is a control panel "wall" in front of my KA-50 Virpil box to integrate the toggle switch and maybe some more add-ons. I You can check it out here: and here is the diagram for it for anyone interested: -
Thank You! Glad you like it!

Hi to every pilot, Hope you are all doing well! I would like to show off how I built my humble office simpit. This is a work in progress and you all know it never ends. I have been building on my under desk sliding system and finally finished this part. This way I can do my work and when it's time to sim I can move my cyclic and rudder controls into the position I want them to be. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Any suggestions on what to add? I hope you enjoy this!

DIY VIRPIL WarBRD Rudder Pedals Damper Mod
CrashMeTwice replied to CrashMeTwice's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Working on the next video featuring the switch-box I have put together to control the damper bypass valve I have made for the VIRPIL WarBRD Rudder Pedals Damper Mod. I am utilizing a Arduino Pro Micro, a step-down buck controller, trim-pots, and a relay to control the position of a standard high torque servo. I am using an switched USB hub and wanted the entire system to come alive when the rudder pedals become active. If anyone is interested I can also post a complete schematic (wiring diagram) and the code for the Aduino. Let me know. -

Yes, that would be nice. I think their new system has some sort of damper but I am not sure if this is spring based or fluid. I finally finished my project! Take a look here.. -
DIY VIRPIL WarBRD Rudder Pedals Damper Mod
CrashMeTwice replied to CrashMeTwice's topic in VIRPIL Controls
For those of you which have modded your pedals with a steering damper I would love to know what your preferred setting is. From a scale of 0 to 10 (10 being the hardest). I am running mine at about 6 (a bit over medium). -
Hi to all Pilots, hope you are all doing well and having a great day! I have a question in regard to the four Levers on the Virpil SharKa-50 Control Panel's Levers. Although, flying mostly the MI-24, I would be very interested what you are mapping them to in the Sharka and also other Helis.

Virpil Controls - Prices Increasing from 2022/03/14
CrashMeTwice replied to HC_Official's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I expected an increase in price with all what's going on in the world. I think it is still reasonable. They make really quality stuff. I am thinking on buying another grip for my CM2 base but I am not in a hurry and want to see if something new shows up. A heli grip would be awesome. Will see. -
Hi to all Pilots, hope you are all doing well and having a great day! My new project is to install a steering damper to the VIRPIL WarBRD Rudder Pedals. I have seen a video somewhere here or on YouTube featuring a Ka-50 cockpit walk through but can't find it anymore. It showed in detail on how the rudders work. If someone has seen this video as well, please add a link. I also have looked at a MI-8 heli with a similar system and wonder if this system carries over to other models. How it worked was: If the Pilot pushes a button on the left side middle panel the rudders a dampened, pushed again the rudders are free (non-resistive) in movement and I want to duplicate that. In my new project I started out by making a damper mount to attach to my WarBRD rudders for use on my T-Slot profiles. I am currently trying to work out on how to achieve the button actuated system as I saw in this video. I have some ideas but if you have some input on that I would appreciate you comment. I had a lot of fun building this within the last two weeks. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well! My new project is the conversion of the VIRPIL WarBRD Rudder Pedals from a Floor to a T-Slot profile mount. I used some 2x4's wood studs against the wall for the rudder panels to stay put. Although it worked mostly OK, I still had the issue that the pedals moved sideways. I really got tired of this getto setup and decided to do something about it. Having already 40 series T-slots in my sim pit I decided to take the floor base of the rudder pedal assembly and convert the rest of the box and mechanics to be mounted properly onto a 4080 aluminum profile. This gives me excellent adjustment away and toward me as well as zero side movement. Furthermore I can adjust the pedals up and down to my liking on a vertical profile which is under my desk and holds my CM2 Cyclic base. I had a lot of fun building this within the last two weeks. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

CrashMeTwice replied to CrashMeTwice's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I have no "sticktion" at all and I can set the damper to the desired resistance (stick heft) via the knob on the damper. Everything is smooth as cutting through butter. My bolts are just tightened enough not to rattle. This project worked just perfect for me. I don't want to go ever back to the original setup. Tried VR (Oculus, borrowed from my son for a day) but I just can't get used to it no matter how hard I try. I get really motion sick, I guess I am just a desk pilot after all. Kinda like me, my cat is too old for such acrobatics.- 22 replies

Graphics Card For DCS World
CrashMeTwice replied to Flyboy-Pumpz's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Totally agree! Could not have it said better. I am running a 2080 Super and struggle in most maps on 1440p. Trying to get my hands on a Nvidia 3090 or AMD 6900 XT without any luck. -
Making a Collective Damper System for Virpil Rotor Base
CrashMeTwice replied to CrashMeTwice's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Well, if it works why not and your cat seems to approve of it, that's all what matters. I have a cat myself but only cares what kind of food is in the dish, if she doesn't like it then my good day I thought I had is over.- 22 replies
