  1. Hi everyone, hope everybody is in good health! Just thought I mention something about these China steering dampers. I have found that most steering dampers are to restrictive and feel "sticky" from the get go for use on our heli stuff. I am using these on my own projects like this one. However, I found a fix for that issue. You can change the "stiction" of steering dampers by replacing the oil inside with one of lower viscosity. I have found that most dampers have a 15w oil inside. You can change to a 10w and that's what I did and now everything works fine. There are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to change or replace it. Look for videos on how to fix steering dampers. I purchased my oil from Amazon, it's called Lucas Oil 10772 Synthetic Fork Oil 10wt. Medium. You can try lower weight ones too. Just a thought. Stay well and don't be a grouchy pilot!
  2. Hi everyone hoping you doing all well! The Collective Damper System for my Virpil VPC Rotor TCS Plus Base has been completed. Getting images and videos off my camera while I am typing this. Will be working on the Part 2 of 2 video today and it should be up by the end of this week. Thank you for following my project! You all have a great day!
  3. Awesome! Will try that out today.
  4. I use my collective as a throttle as well if I fly on rare occasions something different than a heli. I don't find it quite ideal but works OK. Great post!
  5. Thanks for your picture, that's awesome! A simple and functional solution. It wouldn't work for me because my mount is on my simpit (located left) but not at or under the chair. I am currently using a cushy office chair (slightly modified though). I am still working on the damper system, when finished, I upload an updated image. This should explain better why I made this mount.
  6. OK, after some time spent with my new extension, I can confirm that it works great for me. I am happy with my project. I hope everyone is well!
  7. Thanks so much! Yes, some mounting system from Virpil for use on Aluminum Profiles would be great. However, I can see that the demand would likely not justify the cost of making something like and I also would have nothing to do in my workshop . I am using these profiles a lot and also planning on making a mount for my rudder setup. I am sitting to far away from my desk and the pedals keep slipping away despite that I have now a small stud (2x4x14") against the wall.
  8. I hope I have the 2nd Part finished by Fri the 28th. Thanks so much for watching! Sorry, I just do it for myself, but thanks for your interest and watching my project!
  9. Greetings Pilots, Hope you all had a great start into the new year and keep staying healthy! I have started a new build, making a Collective Damper System for my Virpil VPC Rotor TCS Plus Base. The problem I have encountered with my base before starting this mod was that the collective moved downward by itself. I had to re-adjust the force adjustment bolt after a week or two flying my heli in DCS. This became quite annoying as I had to keep my hand constantly on the collective. If I moved my hand off to switch something on or off on my SharKa control panel my heli was going wild. The solution was to stop flying and re-tighten the force adjustment bolt. Tedious doesn't quite cut it, especially while trying to achieve the same tension on that bolt as I had it set before to make it feel the same. Now, I started this project to remedy the issue and I am about 3/4 there. Besides the damper I purchased from Ali, I also will be integrating a counter weight to see if it makes any different in the feel of things. I'll make it removable in case I was to ambitious and got carried away I attached the video what I have filmed so far and would love to hear from you on any suggestions you may have. I hope I get the second video part up within the next 10 days. If there is any interest I will add some images I have a bit further along from the video above. You all have a great day! See you catching air.
  10. Very cool and nice work! Looking forward to see more.
  11. Wow, you got some skills! I am excited to see more of your cool project!
  12. Yep, it works great for me and yes, it's a bit more costly than others. I have tried many brands and types and the one I have posted above has proven to be very reliable. None of the cut-out problem or switching issues others gave me. The hub is powered by your PC and a Wall AC Adapter. They also have a 10 port version which I have not tried. I am running two CM2 bases with Alpha Grips, a collective with the SharKa Grip, the SharKa Control Panel, and two custom made button boxes (Arduino driven) on it. All on a quality 12ft USB 3 cable on a dedicated USB 3 card (FebSmart USB 3.1 Gen 2 2X 10Gbps USB-A Ports PCI Express USB Card). This card has the latest ASMEDIA controller and not the horrible Renesas which has a lot of driver issues in Win10 and also responsible for me to get gray early Hope you get it all working. You have a great setup, I like it!
  13. Greetings, Pilots of DCS, Showing off my newest DIY project which is a mounting panel for the 3rd release of Virpil's Control Panel line, the SharKa-50. I am pretty sure that this will help me manage my helicopter in DCS better. I needed to find a reasonable and budget friendly solution to mount it to my setup which consists of 40 series extruded aluminum profiles and that's what I came up with. I also wanted it as close to my cyclic as possible and it worked out pretty good. What you think?

  14. Could it be static discharge? Try to touch some grounded device (Power Supply on PC Case etc.) before going on your cyclic. Do this for some days and see if the issue persists. I had the same problem with mine when I had it on a chair mount and the chair is on carpet. Now I have the collective mounted to my sim setup using 40 series T-Slot profiles and I made sure they are all grounded. Never experienced the issue since. Just a thought.
  15. I switched from the WarBRD to the T-50CM2 Base when I still used the Virpil 200mm because of the shorter travel on the CM2 and I am glad that I did because my new DIY extension is 290mm. You can see it here: It makes a big difference to me. Every mm on the base seems to count with extensions. I fly exclusively helis but I can't imagine this wouldn't apply to fighters as well.
  16. I am using a USB 3 Switch hub (works with USB 2 as well) and when I run a simulator with a device limit, I only switch those on which I need for that. Just an idea. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y5WVC3Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?smid=A2TJC5CG7CTGWB&psc=1
  17. I am new here as well just wanted to say hello! Very cool setup! Used to sport the same Saitek controller and have used it for many years. Started simming around 1993 (F/A-18 Hornet) on a Mac. Switched to a PC 2 years later and a whole new world opened up for me
  18. Yes it is HILOK, Thanks so much!
  19. Hi everyone! I am a 60 years young guy and live in the US although not originally from here. I have just started my first flights (mostly training) in DCS. I decided for the MI-24, as I am big into helicopters. I don't know if I can go back to X-Plane after this. Just wanted to introduce myself. Happy Holidays to you all!
  20. What a cool setup! Awesome project. I realize this post is a bit old but definitely would love to see more of it.
  21. Hi everyone, Just finished my latest project. It's an extension for my Virpil CM2 base for flying the MI-24 in DCS. I am pretty new to DCS (including the forum), used to do just X-Plane but absolutely love DCS after just a mere 20 hours in it. I made a video about it, my first YouTube ever! Had to do some serious research me being 60 and a bit (more like a lot) out of the loop, I must admit that I could not have done it without my sons help. Let me know what you think about that Heli Cyclic Extension. Working on a force trim project as well, still waiting on a bunch of parts. Hope this is OK here to post, just really excited about DCS and building my sim pit out. Happy Holidays everyone!
