Got news on my Ipad project. I did some work on the cockpit layout tonight. For now it's ready. Next is configuring some switches and buttons on the MFD's and the CDU. I made a little update video. You see some clicking in the touch IR server/editor and I flip through the cockpit. I decided not to go for a full scrollable cockpit but one in sections (activities it is call in Touch ir) This way there is no frame rate hit when going from one end to the other, the buttons are more stable clickable at the MFD's and you find faster you way around. Notice the flip animation at the end of the video and the website in the DCU display. Hope to use the webwindow for live images from one of the in game mfd's. For the buttons you can use scripts to import data from outsite so it should be possible to check the in game switch status to set in correctly on you Ipad.. I'm no scriptwizard so for that we need someone who knows his way around in that area. Anyone.. anyone..? For a start I need a little script that tells the button it is up at one click and down at the other. So a little script that change a var from 1 to 0 or o to 1 every time a button ask for it.. Without it will only switch as long you press it. I'm in good contact with the developer now, there are a few issues I encountered but he solved some of them the same day with a update I'm beta testing now. I'm sure he will solve the others to, my impression is that he is very dedicated with his work. Work is time consuming, hope to have a in game demo at the end of next week. For now hope you enjoy this one.

Jorgensen, Your right that keypad pro is a bit easy to use when your staring for the first time. But with touch ir there are a lot of more option we can use that make it so good. every key press calls a autohotkey script action for that key. This sounds a bit complex but one's you know how it is don it isn't. to give a example How I use it. -Start with a new location via file/location (I called it A10C) -Then start a new activity via file/activity ( I call it CDU or rightconsole what ever part of the cockpit you simulating) -select the location and then the activity. -Now you add a Devices, I call it DSC A10C. (I gonna put all key actions in here) -Switch it from "available devices" to the "device in this activity" Now the setup is ready to be configered. for the key assignment: -Select it in the "devices in this activity" add button. -name this new button (in my example I call it "CDU_1" for the 1 button on de cdu) -select Autohotkey as type (you need to buy the autohotkey "plugin" $1,99) -click add - when you double click the new Button for this device you get the autohotscript marco screen where you can manually type the key command or you can record a key press. for a record action: record, click ok, wait a sec. , now give the command for example Lalt Lshift 1 , click save and after that ctrl Q to get out of the record mode. you should have a nice script now. check if it looks ok for the key press actions..(I noticed a ctrl action to many in some cases because afer the ctrl q action.. thats why you have to push the save button before leave the record mode.. After this you can drag and drop the new button on you layout. get a images for it or leave it transparent, resize it and a lot of other stuff.. check the touch ir site.. I found all the info I needed there.. have fun..

You can use it for the Iphone to.. just need an other background and make a new layout. Got no Iphone myself but for what I have seen the functionality stays the same.

Ok.. Not yet ready, just a first recon. But in my search for ipad solutions for the button click fun I had at Simhq.com someone pointing me to this tool: Touch ir+ I've been playing with it today and for what I have seen so fare you Ipad owners gonna love this.. I made a little demo have a look. Excuse my "euh's..and humms.." I'm not used to talk to my Ipad. I hope there are more people who can put some time into this, so we can make something usable out of it.

Someone at simhq.com pointed out an other ipad tool that could be used for our ipad "touchable cockpit" project. Touch ir+ I had a look at the site of Touch ir+ and read the doc a bit. It does look promising. It's all a bit more structured and there are more options than keypadpro.. It looks like the background can be bigger than the ipad display and for what I understand this means you could have a bigger cockpit panels more than what fits to one screen.. you can manage the button and background images, have option for animation of pushing a button. And there is an option to import html to the ipad.. in a custom windows! I imagin import screen shot mfd/cdu display?? update every 0.5 sec? not sure how to get this to work (probibly sound to good to be true.) but worth a try. Can anyone give and solution how to get screen dumps of the mfd every 0.5 sec that is dropped in a map that is reachable over http? Total price will be around 6,99. I gonne give it a try. Touch ir+

Looking great! Same for me, lots of ideas :) The new version of keypad pro seems to have some neat new functions. Like trasparant buttons and fast switching between templates. (He actually listen to my request!) next thing on his agenda is to have a looks at the kpserver.exe. Let's support this guy, it Looks like we can have a lot of fun with this tool..

ok, Check my zip file.. I added a CDU background and all the keys you need for the CDU. Looks like you have to add them manually. http://www.lx200gps.nl/a10cdu.zip This my first setup: (check the CDU) Yes, I noticed that about some keysnot being correct.. I forgot "M" and mixed up some others.. have to take a look at that. What file did you use for a matrix.. BTW. got a Email from the developer from keypadpro. They release a version 2 in two weeks. They say they added some functionally I asked for to get it to work a bit better for use A10 simmers. Let's see :)

Looks great Botch! Thanks for the review. That's what's great about keypad you can customize it as you like. Two questions, did you get the images with keypad pro or from my latest zip if any. And how is the stability in flight for you.

I think we have to respect metals decision. Building a tool for home use is one.. Making it Apple app ready it something else. It is good he is realistic and tells us this now and not in a few weeks. He showed us that it is possible. Now it is for the next developer to go ahead and make it for the mass. I'm sure it's gonna sell good one's A-10 is officially released. Every A-1oc simmer with an Ipad will buy it.

For what I know you can give the keys repeat options. Just go in edit options of the key. There is a tutorial on youtube.

DayGlow: It just use one script.. I added 1 ..0 a..z f1..f8 and the Lshift,Lctrl and Lalt.. mot sure if I need them all but somewere in the process it looked like it did so I left it like it is. The result from the alt is a bit strange.. it shows me a LAlt and Lctrl... dont know why so I don't use it in my CDU keycommand list. just have a look and try with my script. http://www.lx200gps.nl/a10cdu.zip Jorgensen: there is a readme in this file that explains how I did it.

Yes, it takes the key you configer in the script file and send it's replacement.. Check my script how I did it. a::a b::b. Shift::Lshift etc.

Get the a10cdu.zip file (I made a new version with the images) place this in a map named "ipad"on your i pad foto location with the I-tune synch option. check is the images, restart your Ipad?...check keypad if images are now added. If not it looks like you have to add them manually :( double click on button in edit mode, for back ground tap on icon next to the ADD button..

I don't know how keypadpro managed it. Not sure if the template holds the the links of the images when I uploaded it. I've got the images ( you can find in the new a10cdu.zip file) in the default photo map on my I pad in a submap called "ipad"

-Get the default autohotkey.. 32/64 what ever you OS is. -The name of the autohotkey script is not important as long the extension is .AHK -You run the script by double click on it. there will not happen a lot, just that you will see an autohotkey icon right next to you system clock on you desktop. ( should only be one. exit the others if you started more.) Autohotkey is now getting al the keyinput's (you could check it by editing the script with lets say A::B .. ( you have to double click the script after you edit it and give a "yes" if he ask you tot replace an old instant) an A press would than be B result if you try it in note pad. - I have two lue files in my keyboard lue location.. one default.lua en one keyboard.lua. the last one if for me the active one.. not sure how this is for you. you should use the active one. you can check it in A10 at the keyconfig menu.. cdu keys should be configured..shif/ctrl..xxx The pad screen seems to be empty because the forum profile download in keypadpro does not get my images(background and keys) didn't know that just found that out. .. I added the images to the zip file. download it again an place the images on you Ipad so keypadpro can find them. (synch with I-tunes to default image location.) mu A10cdu.zip before going into the sim you could check the cdu by going into you joystick config tools "keymarco checker" if you got one and see if you can register the key inputs ( I use my CH PRO controle software.. it is ankeypress tool that show what key is pressed at the moment.\ If all is up and running first got to the key setting menu.. press the ipad cdu keys and it should go to the corresponding cdu key command. Let me know.

OK here is my first version of an Ipad CDU for A-10. I used the Ipad app Keypadpro. Get the files here, and follow the instructions in the readme. A10CDU.Zip Let me know if it works for you.

That's a great setup you've got Metal. I understand what you mean with something sub pair. (I dropped an offer to sell a copy of the source of my webshop for this same reason). But on the other hand. I'm sure there are a lot who are willing to pay for it (they did for the beta of a-10) ;) You might have a business model here to sponsor you Developing work. You could drop the question here in the forum and simhq.com and see what people say. Keep up the good work!

Sound very good.. I'm sure if you can make it like it sound, you can make a little money out of it.. I'm sure all Ipad A10 users will pay a app price for it. I would say do publisch is when it is ready! Paid or for free. This is very good stuff for the A-10 communitie!! It's been a long time I did some programming, ( more a cut/past programmer ;) ) but are you running in some kind of a developer mode on you I pad? Got it just a week so no idea how to interface with it for what you're doing. Got any links to places with some hands on guides?

That looks great! I've got it working myself with Autohotkey as it's interface. not sure if my way is stable. i noticed some delay but i works. I like you grapics better, I cannot get rite of the default buttons of keypadpro. What apps did you use? Any chance I can give it a try?

Ok got the template uploaded in the keypadpro app. check it out. You gonna need some other files to, I gonna place it on my ftp asp. pm me if I can send it by mail. Would like to know if it works for you.
