Tip for VR: this little mod improves performance and visual experience!
Varry007 replied to Varry007's topic in DCS Modding
No it reduces opacity, to 20% of the original value; the glass is still “visible”. backup your original file before installing, if you don’t like it, you can restore the original file. -
I was getting sick of how everything looked in VR. And i constantly changed my ingame gamma setting. I notice viuals were better in external view, but from within the cockpit; shadows were shimmering. there were odd looking reflections in the canopy. And colors were white faded looking outside. This mod alters the opacity of the canopy. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328443/ This improved the visuals dramatically, no more shimmering shadows, and no more microstutters!! I'm very happy with the result!! !Disclaimer: Use at your own risk!

I was wondering if the same apples to the AH64-D: In jets, we fly as high as possible, to achieve the best groundspeed to fuel consumption ratio possible, to cover distance. I've read apache can go up to 21k ft. So does the doctrine for jets apply to the apache? Or since the speed is limited, the gain effect is minimal? Of course, this doesn't take the vulnerability the chopper is exposed to at high altitude.

Collective curve setting...
Varry007 replied to Hootman9104's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I'm also curious at people sharing their settings. But i think we need to differentiate those using their throttle axxis as collective, and those using an actual collective (much longer axis, so higher resolution for the collective axis of the helicopter) -
I think this part should be updated, as it is very inefficient. One can search on a keyword, but not filter zou on "type" (mod, mission, skin,....) One can filter out on type, upload period, .... but not search on keyword... Who's in favor?

Hi, Shouldn't the apache's searchlight be stronger? I find itvery faint in comparison to the Huey's searchlight. It is very narrow, and quite dim compared to the Huey. I don't know if it's power (or lack of) reflects the real life searchlight of the apache.

I personally don't care it takes long to have all the features. I just hate they introduce new bugs, diminishing what is already there, and not prioritize the fixing of these bugs.....
-
let's not forget the bugs which got introduced over the updates. Just to name a few: - George not able to aim/fire canon anymore in MP - engine 2 stalling/shutting down during cold start - boresighting in VR is broken These things were fine before, but introduced with updates. The inability for Geroge to fire the canon in MP remains unadressed over the last 3 updates.....

it started as follows; I usually host the mission (foothold PVE with persistence), sudenly, my friend has a connection timed out mid game. He reconnects, then about 20 mins later gets disconnected again. After 3 of these occurences, now, whenever he connects to my server, while hosting the same mission; he doesn't get a load progress bar, just "loading"; and then gets disconnect immediately. We tried on both our machines; reboot DCS repair playing another mission : no problem here Playing foothold on another public server: ok, no issue Finally we inversed the roles; he hosts, i join as client; the EXACT same thing happened: 2 or 3 connection timed out mid game; and nog impossible to connect. This is my log from last attempt What would that mean; 2023-02-11 16:09:41.286 ERROR ASYNCNET (Main): Connection failed with code -10060 2023-02-11 16:09:41.369 INFO ASYNCNET (Main): client has stopped 2023-02-11 16:09:47.092 INFO ASYNCNET (Main): client has started dcs.log

Lately, my buddy and i have experiencing disconnections when we connect on eachtothers server. No real reason can be found in DCS log dcs.log

....and why doesn't this get fixed?
-
What's funny; george's use of the canon was quite okay on release of the module. It wasn't very accurate, but he fired down the range....

it works perfect in vr; when you call on scratch, it displays a fixed reference point, overlayed on the map. Pan the map untill the point is over the point of interest, hit the button on scratch, and voila, you have the coordinates. -

Hi @Raptor9 thank you for the info!! -
I can’t seem to find the lee1hy livery, from the liveries competitio. Earlier this year.

Hi; Can anyonr confirm wether this was fixed?
-
Someone should tell George it's "No-Nut-November"...

sure, seriously; one can also go out and enjoy life, start a new hobby, or go rub one in the corner for all i care.... On some aspects, the apache has just gotten worse over the last patches. I don't want to bash ED, but there are more pressing issues than adding skeletons, green moons, and green jet afterburner flares.... SO Yes, i dropped the apache for now, until it's properly fixed; it's a personal choice, based on enjoyment (or lack of) with the current state of the module (impossible to boresight in VR is another of those issues which just gotten worse)....
