  1. This hurts my brain I've wondered if the AI enemy is subject to visibility issues as a human enemy would be. Night, cloud cover, etc; does it affect their ability to visually see an aircraft?

  4. I've shot down plenty of helicopters in DCS, and I've never seen one take six Sidewinders plus gun damage from multiple aircraft and still operate while on fire.
  5. Yesterday, myself and a few others tried to shoot down this KA-27 which took damage (was on fire) but nothing beyond that despite many hits. Here's the Tacview; -edit: hi-res version I've seen this before with the KA-27, and I'm unsure if it was on the same MP server.
  6. This function, to lase & store, is such a fundamental function for the gunner that I'm still surprised ED released the AH-64 without it, let alone take this long yet to add it. To add insult, George actually states he's lased & stored the target.
  7. Yeah, per the article, the A-10 "can now employ up to 16 GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bombs (SDBs) on a single sortie, among other stores, with the help of a new software update." If they can mod it, why can't we? Seriously, this would help tremendously with SEAD work when there's little help on a server to do so.

  9. Thanks, I'll give this a try. Seeing his targets better definitely will help. My lack of trust in his aiming has made me a better pilot. MP for the most part. It's been a while since I played SP. SP I've only played the training runs; flying higher, faster which means a closer, easier to see target too. Thanks for the replies, guys. Unfortunately, my tracks are too long to share. It takes a while to sneak under the radar.
  10. George is excellent at spotting targets. George is not good at hitting them. I know I'm going to get numerous questions about what I'm doing when he's missing. I can say, undoubtedly, there's no reason for him to miss the last shot that caused me to rage-quit! I was completely stable at 20 knots, nonobstructive view of the target, range was around 8K – long but considering the clear shot, completely doable. It's so frustrating to creep up on a SAM site for 25 minutes just to have him miss such an easy shot and waste a missile, sometimes repeatedly. Is it because he can't use the DTV camera that he often misses?
  11. Figured it out. It was a resolution mismatch. The game was set much higher than what I am using in Windows. I dropped the game to the Windows resolution and it looks correct.
  12. Hi all, Long story, short; I just finished moving and have missed a few updates. I also purchased a a new monitor. I'm not sure what's change but George's UI is at the 3 o'clock position between the center and edge of the screen instead of the corner. I also cannot see the target selection list. Has something changed with these two UIs? I haven't been able to find any game setting related to these this. TIA!

  14. I was flying towards a small base, less thank 4 km, and slaving George towards it. George, since he prioritizes threat-type over range, was focusing on a larger base well over 10 km away which happened to be in the same direction I was flying (toward this smaller base). Of course, this larger base had many more dangerous threats compared to the T-80s, BMPs and infantry I was trying to hit. Those closer targets were mixed in toward the bottom of his long list. Scrolling through the targets, watching the TADS cursor finally focus on the nearer threats, was painful and dangerous as I was wasting closure time. If there was a quick way to limit the range at which George can scan, e.g., 5 km max, 10 km max, unlimited, why maintaining threat prioritization it would prevent this from happening.
  15. I figured it out… I'm truly embarrassed… I had set Hellfire to LOAL. It seems, when LOAL is active, no range is displayed until the missile is fired. It’s still weird that George wouldn't fire at that point, though. Maybe the wrong Hellfire type or the missile wasn't ready for some reason. In any case, I never use LOAL so no problem and I know what to look for now. Thanks for the help, all.

  19. It's single player. I never thought to jump into the CPG's seat. I've actually never tried that during a session. Once I pick a role, I stick to it, plus my CPG setup has been neglected as I try to become a better pilot. Here's a link to download the track. It's 100MB+. Let me know if that's what's needed.   20. I think this may have been established as a bug base on what I found searching, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm well under 5K stalking targets at near hover. I take a few out, but then the TADS begins to show '9999' range to all targets. There's no clutter – direct, clear line-of-sight. George states he's engaging and never states 'out of rage' because we're not. The missile never fires after this point, and I don't know if there's a way to reset this behavior or if it's just a bug. It's frustrating as all hell, as it took an extended amount of time to get into this firing position, just to be stuck there with no option to correct it. I end up quitting in frustration.
  21. Yeah the manual is daunting but read a little on a section you’re interested in learning. Just 10 minutes here and there and you’ll find you’ll learn more than just posting here and waiting for answers.

  23. Hey, glad to hear I'm going in the right direction. Thanks. The Winwing collective attaches to the Orion base, replacing the normal controller. So, it's the best of both worlds depending on what I am flying, however the change-over is far from quick, I think, so I would have to be dedicated to what I'm flying for at least a little while. Regarding the pedals; you're saying I would hate flying a helicopter with the Logitech pedals? I don't really care for them either, but I can live with them to save some cash for now. But if it's a fact that they suck with the 64, I will upgrade.
  24. Hey all, as the title states, I'm new to the DCS but not sims in general. I've been using the Logitech yoke/throttle/pedals for a while in MSFS and X-Plane. Since AH-64D was announced for DCS, I've been drooling over Wags' demo videos. So, I want to invest in a HOTAS that's right for the Apache. Here's what I've selected: Winwing Tech Black Shark Collective Grip $300 Orion Throttle FA-18 $235 Foxx Desk Mount Beam Assembly $60 Foxx Mounting Plate for the Orion Throttle $35 Vipril Controls VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base $290 VPC Constellation ALPHA-R $200 VPC Desk Mount V4 - S $45 VPC Desk Mount V4 Adapter - MongoosT-50CM2 Base $25 I also use a Stream Deck for MSFS, which I'll utilize. I went with the Orion FA-18 throttle so I could use it for both the collective, then convert it back if I want to use it with fixed-wing aircraft. I like the Scroll Encoder on the Constellation for zoom, which is why I choose that stick. Pedals, I figured I would use the Logitech's for now since these parts alone will be around $1300 USD with shipping… big ouch. So, is this an ideal setup for the 64? It's a lot of money, but if it's worth it, I'll take the hit once I sell a kidney.
