Hi, The original software was quickly patched as we received the first headsets as we immed identified issues with openXR in DCS, I would strongly suggest you join the beta releases but you are correct we are due a update, lets see what is released this week hopefully.
-
You are correct ET will not start until after calibration. Are you using the beta software release or the original stable. We are expecting an update to the stable very soon, but I have been running the beta releases and not had an issue. How complex is your setup do you have multiple screens. Is this a clean install of windows ? A lot of people have had issues that seem to be a conflict with non VR1 software that they have not fully uninstalled. Do you have lens inserts for the VR1. Sometimes the VR1 can sound like its not plug and play, I can say if given a clean sheet to work from VR1 suite of software is very good if sometimes rather complex. I am sure we can get you flying with ET.

Its been discussed on the VR1 Discord that Cantered images are not currently supported with the warping profiles used by the VR1. So I suggest youy do not use that option in DCS. For me ET works fine in the VR1 and DCS, suggest you join us on Discord.

Thankyou, I'll give that a try.

Hi, no I have not looked at Canted Rendering, please can you share what you have adjusted ?
-
All good flying VR1 in DCS latest Beta 4.9 release has really brought things together nicely QV DFR.
-
If you want to stay off the beta then I would not advise the openXR runtime as this had some serious issues when released, that have been fixed in the beta, simply use SteamVR runtime set resolution around 65% and enjoy.

No need for any other Somnium software, just the VR1 Software itself, just ensure before you launch DCS, everything in the VR1 tool is setup as you wish. Have you installed the Beta 4 software and updated the firmware. ? Suggest you take some baby steps first to get used to things. Ensure openXR runtime is selected. You have the Visionary Edition so you do have ET that will allow you to use QuadViews and either FFR or DFR. The VR1 Resolution slider needs to be adjusted if you are going to take full advantage of ET. First try without ET and just set resolution slider to around 60% and see what framerate you are getting, need to try and match the freq of the headset so you're really looking to reach a stable 90 fps. Its important to dial setting down first and then slowly make an incremental step forward. If you have enabled QV in DCS you will need to alter the main resolution down to as low as 20% as you are probably running FFR set the Foveated settings 80 20 20 to start. Then try Eye Calibration to get DFR. There are a lot of things to adjust and understand to get the VR1 running at its best but that is the price we pay for such a cutting edge piece of hardware and something we all knew, but as the software has been enhanced the better the experience has become, you are joining us at a great time for DCS and VR, exciting times ahead.

SteamVR does not need to be launched or running when using openXR in DCS. Just ensure you have openXR runtime enabled and SteamVR disabled. The Beta is really to only option if you wish to run openXR. Goto Discord Somnium - Announcement to gain access to Beta 4 download, and updated firmware if you are interested in 72hz and 120hz alongside 90hz https://discord.com/channels/494994753146847233/1301858258902061056 Beta is currently due to complete by end of July.

Hi, I have been running OpenXR Beta 4.0 since release and I have not experienced the same issues that are present in the Stable release code. 90fps and 90hz. We are expecting the Beta to be concluded in July and the RC updated.
-
HI, welcome to the VR1 club, suggest you take a quick look at the thread here ref the Somnium VR1 or come over to the Somnium VR1 Discord site. I had my VR1 Titan since inital release in December, OpenXR support is working by default with VR1 Software, but you need to be aware that the current / original VR1 OpenXR driver has some issues, these problems were identified by the VR1 community immed on release and Somnium acknowledged these issues and have with their Beta program address 99% of our concerns. Currently very happy running 90fps at 90hz using Beta 4. Happy to help just post any questions you have.

sominum vr1 setup for DCS with eye tracking
evanswillo replied to Gun Jam's topic in Virtual Reality
If you are using Beta 4.0 there is a new option under the Eye Tracking section to toggle Lens Inserts On, may help, but I am also looking at how to best use ET. Using the VR1 ET Trail visualisation I can see my eyes are being tracked. All the updates to the software are having a positive impact on daily VR1 usage in DCS. -

Just been able to try Beta 4.0, DCS is looking good, Eye Calibration is working with prescription lens inserts now. Checking to see how ET performs. -
