  1. I have a 3090/5800x3d/G2 VR setup... and I don't do Air to Air in it anymore. The graphical issues are just too much for me to stomach, in particular the ghosting of close contacts, which is where my lovely 55" 4K OLED does offers the experience I'm looking for. On the other hand, I've found that Air to Ground missions are much easier to handle when locked at 45fps - without ACM, I don't see the ghosting. But yeah, I feel your pain - I think we're a few years away at least before VR in DCS comes close to the visual quality of 2D. In the meantime, a bigscreen 4K OLED offers a similar level of immersion, without the hassle.
  2. Thanks for all the information you guys have linked to - given me much food for thought. If only these things weren't so damn expensive here in Australia it'd be an easier decision.
  3. Yep, I was referring to how smooth the fps feels - 30fps on the G2 with OpenXR is rather incredible. Prior to OpenXR, I needed 60fps, with the HMD set to 60Hz, to get a similar sensation of fluidity. If I can get that kind of sensation in terms of fluidity, but with much higher resolution on the Varjo Aero, I may be tempted to blow the AU$3500 required for one.
  4. Hmm, how can you say it's the same as a 4K TV, when it's actually 30% fewer pixels? Are you saying it "feels" the same as a 4K TV from your subjective experience? Each eye would need to have 3840 x 2160 pixels to actually field identical clarity to a 4K TV, wouldn't it? And the distance you sit from your 4K TV would also be influential, as this would dictate how well you can resolve individual pixels. For example, I sit approximately 1m back from my 55" 4K OLED when flying in 2D - I would easily resolve single pixels better than someone sitting 3m away.
  5. So, now that I have OpenXR rocking nicely, I'm really enjoying VR in DCS with my G2. Being able to get a smooth experience at 30fps is revelatory. One issue though is that the resolution means that distant objects are quite indistinct. My question to Varjo users is twofold: a) Does the Varjo experience feel as smooth as the Reverb G2 with OpenXR? b) Are you able to make out distant objects more clearly as a result of the Varjo's increased resolution? Thanks!
  6. I found it - it's in the in-game menu, not the desktop menu. I didn't see any difference with having it unlocked vs locked though?
  7. Loving this - one question though. The guide says to: "Within the OXRTK menu make sure that MR is set to unlocked." I don't have any MR Unlock option visible in OXRTK though?
  8. Ahh, thanks - hmmm, I wonder if Steam's repair function will work properly with the modifications I'll be making for VR?
  9. I'm in the process of trying to get DCS VR working well, and the guide says to use the Skatezilla tool before I do anything. I'm having an issue though - when I run the Clean function to ensure everything is setup right, I get the error: 1:34:57 PM: :Cleaning DCS World 1:34:57 PM: : #### EXCEPTION #### 1:34:57 PM: : DCS_Updater.EXE is Missing Or Corrupt My setup is: Clean install of Windows 10, all updates and drivers current as of 15/5/22 DCS - Steam install, stable build Installed to C:\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld Saved games at C:\Users\benne\Saved Games\DCS Skatezilla app is correctly configured for Slot #1 build folder path and saved game path - get the two green boxes. I have selected the build in the "Select Build:" drop down box. Any ideas why this utility does not find this file for my Steam install of DCS?
  10. By all accounts it's the 5800x3d. I've just upgraded to it from the 11900K, but haven't had a chance to test yet.
