  1. Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 Shipping in Only 1-2 Weeks Right Now Anyone interested in buying a Dev Kit 2 since it doesn't take 2-3 months to get one anymore? Or are you going to just hold out for Dev Kit 3? To be honest, I'm kind of tempted although the $350.00 price tag is pretty high. Also, one of my friends told me he wasn't too impressed with the demo he had of one. I was pretty disappointed to hear that. Found the news on http://www.simbites.com.
  2. DCS is certainly becoming dangerous for the wallet with the shear frequency of releases. However, I must say, my latest purchase of the MiG-15 was well worth every penny. What an amazing aircraft to learn, fly, and fight in. I highly recommend it to anyone!

  6. Yeah, I've done both of those things already and neither worked. I really have no idea what it could be. Maybe the problem has to do with the latest beta NVidia drivers I installed recently for the Battlefield 4 beta. That's the only thing system-wise that I've done recently. The controller works fine in all other games though so I don't think there's a software issue with the controller itself. There's some odd conflict between DCS and possibly DirectX or the drivers for the controller. I'm thinking more towards DirectX as that probably also got updated for Battlefield 4. Also, DirectX does seem to process all the controller data. I'm pretty sure if a developer looked at the crash log, he'd know exactly what was causing the problem. Hopefully, that's still an option.
  7. I just updated my drivers, restarted the computer, but the problem still persists. It'll be interesting to see if you guys run into the same issue.
  8. Sim mode. I'll play with the drivers and see if that fixes it. FYI, the controller works fine in other games (e.g. X-Plane).
  9. Awesome, thanks so much!
  10. Yes, I do use the controller to play the game. Crash logs attached. Logs.zip
  11. I've noticed anyone with an XBOX 360 controller connected to their computer can't get DCS to run from 1.2.5 - 1.2.6. I have the same problem. Everything worked fine before those new versions were released. The few threads regarding this problem go back about a month or two (some with little or no response). Although there have a been a bunch of updates over the last couple months, none of them attempt to address this issue as far as I can see. I understand that this issue isn't affecting a large cross-section of users but there are certainly a few handfuls of people who literally haven't been able to play the game for a couple months even though they payed for it. It may be time for the developers to look at this small but critical issue. The crash log shows the following: # -------------- 20131023-055951 -------------- # E06D7363 at FD03940D 00:00000000 00000000 00000000 0000:00000000 FD03940D 0019D9C0 0000:00000000 RaiseException()+3D 6D4F14F1 0019DA30 0001:000604F1 C:\Windows\system32\MSVCR100.dll _CxxThrowException()+81 E09B9928 0019DB50 0000:00000000 ??0Input@@AEAA@XZ()+1C78 E09B99A7 0019DBC0 0000:00000000 ??0Input@@AEAA@XZ()+1CF7 E09BAAEB 0019DC10 0000:00000000 ??0Input@@AEAA@XZ()+2E3B E09B72AA 0019DDE0 0000:00000000 ?getInvertY@ForceFeedback@@QEBA_NXZ()+45CA E09B749B 0019DE20 0000:00000000 ?getInvertY@ForceFeedback@@QEBA_NXZ()+47BB F57E23EB 0019E2E0 0000:00000000 DllCanUnloadNow()+30F E09B74EC 0019E350 0000:00000000 ?getInvertY@ForceFeedback@@QEBA_NXZ()+480C E09B792F 0019E450 0000:00000000 ?getInvertY@ForceFeedback@@QEBA_NXZ()+4C4F E09BE00F 0019E4A0 0000:00000000 ?initialize@Input@@SAXPEAUHWND__@@@Z()+9F E09ED460 0019E4D0 0000:00000000 ?createInputFilter@@YAPEAVInputFilter@@AEBUInputFilterInfo@@@Z()+29320 F67A6F97 0019E510 0000:00000000 lua_yield()+507 F67B4A86 0019E6D0 0000:00000000 luaS_newlstr()+44C6 F67A7038 0019E700 0000:00000000 lua_yield()+5A8 F67A61BF 0019E880 0000:00000000 lua_getinfo()+39F F67A721E 0019E8C0 0000:00000000 lua_resume()+10E F67A2290 0019E910 0000:00000000 lua_pcall()+60 EF7594F7 0019E960 0000:00000000 luaopen_dxgui()+28A7 EF7595C8 0019E9B0 0000:00000000 luaopen_dxgui()+2978 EF74B7A0 0019E9F0 0000:00000000 E155F01D 0019EA20 0000:00000000 ?changeState_@SwitchButton@gui@@MEAAXXZ()+2D E1511BC5 0019EA50 0000:00000000 ?onMouseUp@ButtonBase@gui@@UEAAXAEBV?$Vector2@H@2@W4MouseButton@2@@Z()+65 E152253B 0019EA80 0000:00000000 ?getMouseButtonPressed@WindowsManager@gui@@QEBA_NW4MouseButton@2@@Z()+15B E151C44C 0019EAE0 0000:00000000 ?processMessages@GUI@gui@@QEAAXXZ()+8C E151BDA3 0019EB20 0000:00000000 ?update@Application@gui@@UEAAXXZ()+33 F700156C 0019EB50 0000:00000000 F67A6F97 0019EB90 0000:00000000 lua_yield()+507 F67B4A86 0019ED50 0000:00000000 luaS_newlstr()+44C6 F67A7038 0019ED80 0000:00000000 lua_yield()+5A8 F67A61BF 0019EF00 0000:00000000 lua_getinfo()+39F F67A721E 0019EF40 0000:00000000 lua_resume()+10E F67A2290 0019EF90 0000:00000000 lua_pcall()+60 3F25BC27 0019EFE0 0000:00000000 3F25556D 0019FCE0 0000:00000000 3F25C1A6 0019FD10 0000:00000000 76D8652D 0019FD40 0001:0001552D C:\Windows\system32\kernel32.dll BaseThreadInitThunk()+D 76EBC541 0019FD90 0001:0002B541 C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart()+21 Any potential workarounds would be greatly welcomed. However, maybe this issue could also be escalated to the developers as it's been afflicting a bunch of people for quite some time now. Thanks!
  12. The F-15 has plenty of wing flex in a high g turn and I hope to see it modeled in the future:
  13. Now, that's an excellent question! I think it's similar to the difference between Gamespot.com/IGN.com/etc.com and Eagle.ru/AVSim.com/etc.com. Sure, there's not nearly as much money to be had. However, the targeted nature of a sim-focused crowd funding website brings many benefits: 1. Much easier to get a seed user base. We have a nice target now and can funnel marketing efforts to it. 2. Less noise for the users wanting to fund the projects. They can very easily browse all sorts of projects they'd be interested in which leads into my next point... 3. More effective for the development teams wanting funding. They now get more exposure to a targeted audience (do to the lessened noise) and thus acquire more funding. 4. It'd just be cool for the simulator community. We'd see a huge increase in viable simulator projects come into existence. The problem right now is the simulator market is in bad shape. This is in large part because "publishers" (who used to fund the simulator projects) don't see as big of dollar signs as with the next first person shooter etc. However, it's been successfully demonstrated that the end users (funders) are now willing to take the place of publishers and fund projects themselves through shear numbers alone. Look at Star Citizen (space simulator) with almost $10 Million in funding on Kickstarter.
  14. I was thinking of something along the lines of Kickstarter/Indiegogo but only for simulators. I suppose flight sim development teams could just use Kickstarter/Indiegogo if they want to get crowd funded. However, I believe a campaign run on a simulator focused crowd funding site would be far more successful for them do to less noise and more targeted exposure. Due to the lack of response on this thread, I don't think enough interest exists within the simulator community to support something like this. I'm just glad I didn't go spend a month making the site just to find out later that no one wants it like I usually do :] I'm learning!
  15. Just wondering, Do you think a crowd funding site composed entirely of flight sims would be useful? Are there enough potential development teams and interest by the community to support such a site? Could the sim community's size and means financially support possibly dozens of dev teams? I thought targeting the crowd funding site specifically at flight sims (or possibly other types of sims as well e.g. space, tanks, etc.) would make marketing easier (i.e. it's much easier to target the funders/customers) and be cool for the simulator community. If it worked, we could see a rapid increase of high-quality modern flight sims over the next few years.
  16. Thanks! I'll definitely make some more especially if people are enjoying them.
  17. I loved Operation Fighting Tiger and the green Korean scenery. I probably didn't make it far enough into the campaign to see the amphibious assault. I was only 12 years old and would usually just try to fly around and blow stuff up without paying too much attention to the actual mission. Sounds like a great mission for the Falcon 3.0 series though.
  18. Attached is my first mission for DCS A-10C. It uses a lot of mission editor features including custom audio, triggers, flags, advanced waypoints, custom troop transport on boats, etc. It's a pretty fun mission and I hope you all enjoy it! Situation: Russian Navy armored gun boats are invading our northern military outpost at Anapa. The gun boats are each carrying nine Russian soldiers. As each gun boat reaches the shore at Anapa, they will drop off their troops on the beach and attempt to capture our outpost. We have US soliders occupying the outpost to defend it against any Russian troops that make it to shore but our troops are well out numbered. We must try and reduce the size of the invading Russian army by killing as many gun boats as possible before they reach the Anapa shore. The Russians also have two Molniya ships providing their gun boats air and sea protection. These Molniya ships must be destroyed before we enter the combat area. Two hornets are being launched from the USS Carl Vinson to destroy the Molniya ships in coordination with our attack on the gun boats. Mission: Defend the USA outpost at Anapa by destroying all invading gunboats and soliders. Payload: Since all our targets are light, your A-10 will be equipt with a maximum rocket load. Target: 9x Russian Gunboats 81x Russian Soldiers Notes: Time is short. Be sure to get out to the runway in 7 minutes from mission start. We must execute a 3-mile orbit around waypoint 2 until cleared in hot on the gunboats by the hornets. Try to destroy as many gunboats as possible before they reach the Anapa shore and drop off their troops. We are well outnumbered with only 45x USA Soldiers at our Anapa outpost. Beware of SA-15 site to the south of your orbit at waypoint 2. Vipers are operating to the north and south of your target area. Sea Hawg.miz
  19. Make sure that you are turning on the ILS receiver.
  20. Awesome information. Thanks for doing that research.
  21. Agreed. Your ultimate alignment indicator should be the localizer needle with the waypoint box only being used as a rough reference to the direction of the airport. In my case, the waypoint box was pointing straight down the runway.
  22. In that kind of fog, you'd really have to know the area you are flying in and have a good pre-planned approach in mind with a focus on minimum altitudes. It would be advisable to setup the approach such that none of it is occuring around mountains shown on the TAD.
  23. I've just posted my own approach and landing technique as a training video in the following thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=77812 Hope this helps.
  24. Hey Everyone, I've made my first DCS A-10C training video available on YouTube in two parts: Part 1: Part 2: The video demonstrates advanced CDU programming, custom CDU approach / flight plan setup and execution, instrument cloud flight, and a challenging zero visibility ILS landing. The video is unedited, unscripted, with all mistakes / thought processes included, and mediocre audio quality. I've added annotations to help explain what's going on. Make sure to watch it in HD. Hope you find the training video interesting.
  25. Try out an Xbox 360 controller with the USB interface for the PC. This is what I use and you get your stick, throttle, rudders, view control, and HOTAS all in your hands at once.
