  1. I hope there is a very quick ‘fix’ for this Changing the ‘system date’ just to get something working in a single module seems like a very bad idea To be functional DCS needs to work without the need for such ‘hacks’???
  2. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I’d have no issue processing json data for display on a map (Google Maps, MapBox etc) using javascript. The bit I ‘have no idea about’ is getting hold of mission data in a json format from a running mission in DCS Will look at SLMOD, see if that might help, thanks for your suggestion. Though, I don’t run a ‘dedicated’ server; just the standard, standalone DCS install
  3. Hi, I note there there are a number of MP Server groups who also run websites that contain ‘Live Maps’ for their missions. MapBox, Google Maps, etc Is there any documentation anywhere on accessing a DCS Server mission and obtaining mission data for processing and display on such maps??? Rgds
  4. Now we have Norway on Kola map Just more fun, (if german naval mod still works with latest version of DCS?)
  5. Hi, Quick question, if I may, does the WWII DKM German Naval Squadron mod function OK with latest version of DCS Standalone? Cheers
  6. I think it might be fair to say that, normally, you do NOT need to touch Pitch trim in the Hornet when your wheels are UP.
  7. One option, to avoid ‘ballooning’ upwards, is to reduce your speed below 250 knts, lower your gear and flaps in a steep turn onto your final approach heading, the ballooning effect in this case will assist your turn rather than increase your altitude. As per overhead break. Just a thought; it’s how do it every time In the Hornet, don’t get hung up on speeds and descent rates. The important things for landing the Hornet are… 1. You are ‘speed on AoA’ (trimmed so your velocity vector is aligned with the middle of you ‘E’ bracket.(if this is the case you will be at the correct AoA & speed for landing. The ‘actual’ speed will vary dependent your Hornets’ gross weight.) 2. Your Velocity Vector is on your chosen touchdown point 3. AND, when 2. Above is set, your Velocity Vector is ALSO set at 3.5 degrees down on your pitch ladder. It is also useful to know that (as a general rule of thumb) for every mile you are from touch down you need 300ft of altitude to be on correct glidescope. For example… to be on glidescope 20’ from touch down you should be at 6,000ft, 15’ from touch down 4,500ft & 10’ from touch down 3,000ft There is no need to ‘flare’ the Hornet if on the correct glidescope. However, for a softer, more elegant, touch down; just before touchdown, apply some power, just enough to raise the velocity vector up a little in your HUD which will reduce your rate of descent; up say, from -3.5 degrees to -2.0 degrees. If learning; do give yourself plenty of time to configure your plane, trim to ‘Speed on AoA’ and setup on a stable approach. Good landings do not just happen; they are the consequence of a good, stable approach.
  8. Thanks… But, tried that link. It does not work for me
  9. Anyone able to post a valid invite to ORBX’s Discord server? So far, I’ve not found one that works
  10. Thank you. But, if I wanted to keep the terrains installation files… would you agree that… 1. Copy terrains folder from my DCS installation folder to another drive 2 Then, go into module manager and just click the dustbin next to the South Atlantic module? Sorry for being so obtuse but, just like to check these things first before making a ‘cock up’ Though, given some of the comments that are getting posted here regarding the ‘quality’ of the map, I may well decide to delay purchase till after the map gets its first major update
  11. I’m considering purchasing Kola. However, to ensure adequate space for it on my SSD I will wish to uninstall RAZBAM’s South Atlantic map first, to disable that terrain module and remove all its files from my SSD. But I’ve not done this before so would like to check correct steps needed. My understanding is… 1. Disable South Atlantic terrain in DCS module manager. (Which will prompt for a game restart) 2. At some point, go back into DCS module manager and click the ‘dustbin’ next to the South Atlantic module to remove module files from my DCS installation. Question(s) 1. After disabling the module in module manager do I click the ‘dustbin’, to remove module file, before I restart game or after or does it make no difference?? 2. Instead of removing module files by clicking dustbin in module manager after disabling module can I just manually move modules folder to another drive outside my DCS installation folder for possible reinstatement at a later date? Cheers
  12. Thanks… If future updates of Kola will be incremental rather than requiring to download the whole thing again then that is less of a concern for me with my somewhat pathetic broadband connection!
  13. Well… It looks good, though I have yet to decide whether or not to get it yet. I’m sure this will get more use by players than the South Atlantic map, purely because of its location in Europe I have to admit to being concerned about the size of this map (w.r.t. download times on slow’ish broadband connection) May I ask, if anyone knows, would future updates to the Kola map be ‘incremental’ OR, if there are updates to the map, will it require another ‘full’ download of the map and patch update time??? Cheers.
  14. Wow! Thanks for the tip Back to the old FM & enjoying flying my Huey again
  15. OK, understood, thanks for the advice, will try it
  16. Not a bug, just seeking advice… I have a multiplayer mission that includes an E-3* AWACS. It seems to be operating well, too well in fact. As soon as I start my mission my AWACS is incessantly making BRAA calls giving little opportunity for others to speak on air. Is this correct? Is there a way to control the frequency of these AWACS broadcasts? Or have I just missed something? Cheers
  17. I concede defeat to the better man. I never thought to be so extreme as to use FOUR exclamations. I feel humbled sir!
  18. My view is ‘tainted’ because I had the sheer audacity to use three exclamation marks!!! How utterly ridiculous!!!
  19. Sorry, I respectfully disagree. It has everything to do with ‘us’ - Consequent to Razbam’s statement development and support for three of their products I purchased has stopped!!! We were ‘notified’ of the situation by ED through the public statement they chose to publish.
  20. I would love to have the confidence to purchase some of ED’s ‘Pre-Release’ modules and maps. However, as stated elsewhere in these forums; I have decided to postpone any further intended upcoming purchases (Kola, Afghanistan, F-4, Chinook etc.) Until ED & Razbam make clear public statements that their ‘spat’ has been resolved and that the three Razbam items I have purchased will continue to be developed and supported!
  21. Thanks… I got Kneeboard Builder before I knew how to create kneeboards manually. Now I know how to build them manually, I find I no longer need Kneeboard Builder. I’ve also no wish to add any kind of 3rd party module manager. If Modules or the few Mods I have don’t work or cause conflicts I just scrub them! But, thanks for the response. Delighted your setup works for you Rgds Thanks for your suggestion. Though, I have no wish to install yet more 3rd party software to manage DCS. Maybe, I/we should go back to developers of Gazelle & MB 339 and suggest they ‘fix’ the issue so there is no conflict with Kneeboard Builder??? Cheers
  22. Yes, I have the MB 339. However, I enjoy flying it much more than I need Kneeboard Builder so, will not be removing it! However, thank you for the tip
  23. Unfortunately, NO, I did not And, was unable to get any meaningful advice on the matter! I found the easiest way to create my kneeboards, since the failure of Kneeboard-Builder, was to create them manually. In fact, since, I’ve found manual creation easier Sorry I can not be more helpful.
  24. Like many other players of DCS; I found learning to AAR in my F-18 extremely difficult. Everyone told me it was hard to do, the most difficult thing in DCS and that ‘coloured’ my attitude to learning to do it. I found it all too easy to just give up, justifying my failure with the excuse that every one says it is very hard to do. It was not until I actually decided, in my own mind, ‘Damn it… I’m going to master it regardless of what others say’ that I started to make progress. It took me a little over a week of concentrated effort but thereafter I seem to have ‘cracked it’. I made a youtube video of my first full up take of fuel in AAR. Bear in mind, two weeks before making the video I could NOT even connect to the basket!!! Some things that helped me may help you too… 1. Review your control curves - You need very fine control of pitch, roll and throttle. 2.Take your time; until you get good. 3. As you approach to connect you should be within 1 or 2 knots of Tankers IAS and you shouldn’t be changing your IAS by more than 1 or 2 knots to stay connected. 4. Don’t get into PIO by overdoing pitch control. Often you are moving your Velocity Vector NO MORE than the thickness of the line that represents your wings on the Velocity Vector. 5. Think more in terms of applying pressure to your control stick in the required direction to make corrections in pitch and roll needed, rather than actually ‘moving’ your control stick. Adjustments in pitch, roll and power are usually TINY! Had there been an AAR ‘easy mode’ I’m sure I would never have put in the effort to learn how to do it. I assure you, if I can do it, anyone can. But, it does require some time and effort. Shortly after making the video (above) - I thought I’d see if I could also do this at night! I was pleasantly surprised that, with the skills just acquired, it was really no more difficult. Here’s the proof… Hope the above may be of help to someone at least
