  1. Pan Am? They operated hooks, so would be nice.
  2. I can replicate that wandering nose at 20 knots, so it's certainly a thing. But is the Apache unflyable, or some of the other overheated rhetoric on this thread? No.
  3. DCS aligns to the right eye position, even if the monocle is on the left eye. This gives you a parallax offset, doesn't matter if the non-dominant eye is closed or not since the left eye alignment will be further to the left than the right eye physically is. It can be very difficult to focus your eyes properly doing non-dominant, especially when using the PNVS. Harder to look through the reticle, not at it.
  4. I've actually been thinking of doing the DCS equivalent, since it's such a hassle to deal with.
  5. I've found that if the monocle is set for the left eye, the reticle will always be off to the left; it boresight's off the right eye no matter which eye is set in options. Easy to reproduce, rounds will land to the right of the crosshairs every time in that setup. It's not apparent in pancake, it's really a VR problem (and if you're left-eye dominant, it's a big problem).
  6. Will the image file be included with the DTC release for the Apache? It's referenced as the "cheer up" file in the book Crazy Horse and allows .bmp's to be uploaded into the helo.
  7. It's possible that DCS helo pilots use force feedback at a higher percentage of the user base than fixed wing does, which may give some non-representative numbers. Doesn't necessarily matter, but may give the impression that there are a lot more FFB users in DCS than there really are. For instance, there are not a lot of Rhino's in existence, but you have numerous users of them in this thread.
  8. FFB is a game changer for rotary, so wouldn't be surprised if this poll is skewed compared to one on a fixed-wing sub.
  9. Is making your CPG hurl helpful?
  10. Ordered. Any chance of a run of EUFD's?
  11. Yes, and hyperbole doesn't help.
  12. Flight models always seem to be a work in progress, my disagreement comes with terms like random or unpredictable. It's neither of those things, IME.
  13. It's that controllable and precise now, though. I do it all the time in a combat loadout, drop into little clearings, worm through the woods and along rivers. At high torque, mashing left pedal can absolutely ruin your day, but provided that's accounted for, nothing in that video is out of the ordinary.
  14. At the risk of starting a war here (and that's not my intention), the Apache, as it stands today, is one of, if not the, most nimble module in DCS at any speed. You have to fly ahead of it, and practice a lot, but the rewards are there to be had. Everything it does is predictable, and it rewards hard work.
  15. Game crashes when commanding George as CPG to filter friendly targets using left menu long. Attached track file. LastMissionTrack.trk
  16. FBW without systems depth makes for a boring module. The choices you do have in the Viper are false choices, and generally don't matter. Dig deep and it's painfully obvious. Radar modes don't matter, HAD/HARM modes don't matter, ATC and ground ops are lifeless (after years of promises). But it's going to come out of EA, we all know this, and we also know what that means for development.
  17. That's a good round up of outstanding items for what should be core functionality in a "released" product.
  18. Or even something in module special options to ignore them, or open then close when the switch is thrown. Apart from the big red enclosed ones, almost all covers are spring loaded to close after you throw the switch IRL. 15E engine starts, most anything in the Apache (other than the zeroize type), etc shouldn't hold open, so if you want realism in a cockpit build, they should rarely need a separate micro switch to display the action.
  19. Right now, this is probably the best helo base on the market.
  20. In the cold and dark instant action, you can't roll your QFE down low enough to match the airfield elevation. Doesn't strike me as a bug per-se, or a Sinai problem, the Viper just needs a bit more low end range.
  21. Hold the switch up for a second rather than just throwing it. If the switch doesn't stay outboard while bit runs, it'll fail. It holds magnetically, but you need to give it a second.
