  1. Count me in for the Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight please
  2. Hey Demon? What are you using to create the label panels? They look good.
  3. It may be nothing, but the default install for the cyclic had a curve defined. Might it be this curve is getting reintroduced by the complete uninstall/reinstall process that is changing the control dynamics? I know I deleted this user curve shortly after I installed the game. Yea I know.... I'm beating a dead horse here, but it may explain a lot.
  4. Sounds like I need to loosen up the friction a bit then. It takes about 25 - 35 pounds to move it at all. Good for bicep workout, but bad for long flights.
  5. Hey, for some of the real time helicopter pilots out there..... I recently installed a collective control in my sim pit for the Huey. It takes a fair amount of pressure to lift and depress the rod. What is considered "normal" resistance for the real collective for the Huey?
  6. Same here. I could never get the application to be stable for more than a couple of minutes. My TrackIR with the Pro Clip is solid as a rock. Can't recommend it enough
  7. I had the same problem with the view going crazy. (Using the TrackClip Pro) When I used the camera view I saw that my glasses were reflecting the monitor screen image back to the camera lens every once in a while. I turned up the LED intensity and turned down my monitor brightness a little. That fixed my problem.
  8. Yep, I have the Saitek Combat pedals. The pedal attachments on mine are made of metal. From what I saw on one of the other posts here the internals are the same between the pro and the combat versions. Just the pedal types are different.
  9. started this last weekend assembling mine. Unfortunately they gave me two left hand stands for the rear of the cockpit. Mine was ordered through performance PC in Washington state USA. They are going to overnight me the correct part. I have pics, but I will need to set my PC back up once the Obutto is totally up and running. Shipping was around 120 US dollars. Recommendations: Plan on spending a few hours assembling the kit. There are a lot of pieces and bolts. It has alot of adjustable features also. It will take some time to find the "sweet spot" where you are happy with it. Have a can of black flat spray paint for touch ups. I had a few parts with some surface rust on them.

  11. Hi JaBoG32 Prinzartus It was delivered yesterday so my wife tells me. I had ordered the triple monitor and the flight stick mount attachements too. When the Fed Ex truck showed up he dropped off four boxes in all. I will be off this next Monday to Wednesday so I will have time to assemble it all then. I'll update more once it's together.
  12. If I remember correctly this may be what you are asking about. At least give it a look. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=54051
  13. That's good to know Cichlidfan. That was the model I was checking out!
  14. Anyone curious about the Obutto Revolution gaming rig? I have one being delivered on Sept 14th. :D
  15. Hey I just wanted to thank everyone for their input so far. After some reviewing of the recommendations I will probably go with a nice pair of Sennheisers. I have used them in the past for audio mixing and was very pleased with the way they fit. Very comfortable and sounded killer.
  16. Well, it seems I'm going to be in the market for new headphones. The ones I have were just a cheap pair of Koss brand phones. The left channel is flaking out and the earpads are disintegrating. So I was interested in what some of the other members here are currently using, and what you might recommend in regards to headsets with an integrated mic. My price range is up to about 200 U.S. dollars. The main things I am interested in are: 1. How comfortable are they on your head during those long missions? 2. How are they holding up after say, a year of usage? Mine lasted me for three years which I guess is good considering how cheap they were. But Koss doesn't sell replacement earpads for that model. 3. How well does the Track IR Pro clip on to them? I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 pro headphones, but the band that goes across your head is kind of "thick". The Track IR clip seems to just fit around those, but I feel it is putting too much stress on the plastic "hinge" on the clip. 4. How well does the embedded Mic work (feedback issues)?
  17. I was checking those out last month. Price has gone up on the new ones. Looks clean and mean but I'm still sitting on the fence as to if I want to get one of those, or just dive in and build the whole pit myself.
  18. I was checking those Obutto setups out over the weekend. They look sturdier than the Playseat setups. Now that you have one, and used it for a bit, what do you think of them?
  19. Hey, I was just reading where there is an open source driver to hook up the Microsoft Kinect device to the PC. Anyone thought of using the Kinect instead of the Track IR setup for motion tracking? http://www.mydigitallife.info/kinect-driver-for-windows-mac-and-linux-openkinect-and-cl-nui-platform-free-download/
  20. Thanks to all for the responses and additions to this thread. It has been very enlightening.
  21. You are probably right about not using the airbrakes. I know the flaps were full down, and my airspeed was around 180 at touchdown. (need smiley standing on brakes here)
  22. Well, I attempted my first landing yesterday. It was at the Batumi base. There were some problems getting the ATC to answer back after my initial request for "inbound". I must have set the radio frequency wrong the first time, but I was able to recover from that foobar. Upon the final approach I was able to actually touchdown on the landing strip smoothly without any jarring bumps. I felt rather proud of myself at that. Once I was down I reduced the throttles to minimum and started tapping on the toebrakes. It was then that I noticed that the brakes and the aircraft were taking sort of a loooong time to slow down. Man you wouldnt' think a simulator would make you start sweating, but that retaining wall at the end of the runway was coming up a little too quick for my liking. I actually ran out of runway and ended up stopping within a couple of feet of that retaining wall. Needless to say I was standing up on the brakes at that point. :megalol: I believe the only reason I got the craft stopped was because my nosewheel got damaged once I left the pavement. I did hear a "pop" just before it stopped. All in all, at least I didn't total the plane. I'm not a pilot in RL so it's been a slow road to learn all the basics for this beast.
  23. Actually I forgot to mention I am using the track clip pro attached to the side of some studio monitors. I also am using a 27 inch ASUS LED monitor in a darkened room. The reflection on my lenses is really bright if I use a webcam to look at my own mug. Distance from the monitor is about 24 to 26 inches. Yep, looks like I need to add some antiglare to the lenses.
  24. Just thought I would let everyone know that I was having some issues with the TRACKIR system. You see I do wear perscription glasses. At times in the cockpit I would have the system freak out and skew the view all around. After some research on the Internet I decided to use the Camera view option in the GUI. I found the camera head was picking up the reflection in my glasses. This was proven by me trying to use the system without my glasses once. I say once because I am seriously nearsighted so I can't see hardly anything with them off. Anyway, I was able to cure the issue by turning the filtering option up to the maximum setting. By default it looked to be set around 3/4. Just thought I would add this in case someone else is sitting on the fence about using the TRACKIR system due to wearing glasses. Now that it works I couldn't go back to using a coolie hat to manage the in cockpit views.
  25. Darn, Just bought the blackshark 2 software a couple of weeks ago. It's cool though... Considering how in depth the detail of the sim is, it's cheap.
