Hi again, Elastic. I'm afraid your question is better posted in a troubleshooting section. I'm really not very good with this sort of thing. Sorry. Bull

Hi Folks, I'd love to hear from some of you FSSB R3 vets out there as I'm finding the transition to force sensing a bit more challenging than I had anticipated. I got this mod 3 days ago and use it with the F-86 Sabre only. Also, I am using the mod as a standalone joystick, which is center-mounted on my Obutto Revolution. 1. The ability to change settings on the fly is great, but am I not able to use the TMS/DMS hats for other functions? What i mean is that when I hit CMS center in order to change the FSC setting, it's also triggering view functions i have assigned to the DMS hat. Is there a way to change my FSC (dms) and sensibility (tms) settings without losing 8 potential keymappings in the process? Can these keybindings be customized? 2. I never had any trouble trimming the plane until i switched to this mod. If I press "Trim" nothing seems to happen when I try to trim, and if "POV" is selected, i can trim a bit, but the results are haphazard at best. Is this due to my force settings? 3. In the HID tool, what does the DX Button toggle option actually do? 4. I hear about so many guys who, once they figured out how FSSB works, will never go back to a traditional stick. I'd love to know what the process was in learning to get used to this mod, and what sort of force settings you now use. Especially from those guys who fly the Sabre. Thanks a bunch, Bull

Glad you're enjoying it Justificus. Remember to reduce the size of the movingzone to make it more challenging once you've mastered the default setting.

You're welcome, Nevyn. Glad you're enjoying it.

Hi Elastic, Sorry you're having trouble. Perhaps it's some mod you're running? I'd start by disabling any mods you're running and going from there. That I haven't heard of anyone else with the same problem makes me think it's very unlikely related to this actual .miz file. Good luck. Bull

It wouldn't be a problem at all, Zeke. I've already done similar for my own training. Maybe for the next phase I'll include that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Folks, I threw the attached .miz together in order to help you all work on your formation flying. As the student pilot, you'll start about 1500 feet behind your (ai) flight instructor, at the same speed, heading and altitude. The goal is to get close enough to the lead aircraft to trigger a "You're in formation" message as depicted below. If you can hold that position long enough (2 minutes by default) you've reached expert status. However, if you slip out of position for even a second, the clock will reset, and you'll have to start all over again. A text message will inform you if you've gone out of formation. I encourage people to feel free to alter this mission in anyway they see fit. Change plane type, speeds, altitude, size of moving zone or times required to reach each of the 4 achievement levels, whatever it takes to have fun and improve your formation flying. If anyone needs assistance customizing this mission, I'll be more than glad to help. (I've chosen .8 mach as the speed for this exercise because Boots Blesse repeatedly recommends staying at a high Mach number during patrol, so why not train how you'll fight, right?) Installation: Just drop the attached .miz file in your C:\Users\(your name)\Saved Games\DCS\Missions folder and get flying. Please find version 2 of this training module attached. Changes: -The default formation distance has been increased slightly as some were finding it a bit too challenging. (This can be adjusted by changing the value of the movingzone triggerzone.) -There are now two separate formation ai planes allowing 2 people to train simultaneously online. Just pick either student A or B and form up on the jet immediately in front of you. I've also allowed for 3 slots for instructors/observers, which came in handy when using it with my squadron. -I've enabled labels. One of the most important formation skills you can learn imo is to be able to quickly join up on your leader from a distance. By using my label mod (also attached) you can set up scenarios where you must, from miles away, spot, close in on and rejoin your leader as quickly as possible. This is an important skill to have when getting separated during an air engagement. -The time in formation required to achieve each of the 4 levels has been increased. If you're having trouble getting the hang of formation flying, try the following: - Try to completely avoid looking at gauges inside the plane. Instead, concentrate only on the plane you're trying to form up on. After a short time, you'll start to be able to identify closure rates and be able to adjust your throttle accordingly without knowing your airspeed. - Don't use your speed brakes. Relying on your speed brakes will get you caught in a cycle of approaching too fast then becoming too slow. Instead, use quick, radical throttle adjustments to control your airspeed and overtake. - Keep your plane trimmed for level flight as best you can. The better trimmed out you are, the less need to fight with the controls. -Relax. The looser you are, the tighter the formation you'll fly. Enjoy, Bull +Formation_Training_Module_v2.miz 39th VFS Label Mod.rar

I don't believe harmonization has anything to do with this issue. Before this last patch, the MiGs died after a good second long rip as long as you were within 1500 or so feet. In the above Tacview log, I was less than 500 feet from the MiG, and absolutely hosing him with no effect. That simply wouldn't have happened last week before this last patch. We have been flying together most nights for months so we have a pretty good idea what it has taken in the past to knock down a MiG. It's broken right now and we'd like it fixed asap.

This guy didn't even have the good form to at least start smoking for me. I hope this is fixed quickly. It's taking the fun out of MiG hunting.

Hi Nascar, click on my Sig and check the 39th VFS out. Just d/l and install the 39th VFS Server Pack and you'll get some worthwhile tools for spotting. Included in the server pack is a set of highly visible skins and my label mod. We also use a flak script for additional spotting help on our server if you'd like to join it sometime. Bull

Looks great! Thanks so much for this. Hi, Stratos, you can easily install with JSGME without having to worrying about losing anything. If you don't know what that is, I would search it on these forums as there are some decent guides to be found here. If after that you're still having problems, feel free to join my Teamspeak 68.174.240.125 pw - dcs and I'd be glad to help you. Bull

Yes, that's my understanding, Lilkiki. Also, we make this change to the burst length: The original post about this topic is here. A final note, for higher realism is to vary the firing rates for each gun. For example, have one gun at 1200, another at 1185, etc. This will reflect the fact that the firing rates were never exactly the same from gun to gun. Merci for all you great mods, Lilkiki :) Bull

Hi Lilkiki, Your rate of fire for the F-86's Browning M3 is way low. Should be 1250 rounds per minute.

Is it possible, without much trouble, to control font size and font color independently for each line of this code? As it stands now, those characteristics are applied universally only. Also, is it possible to use alternate key codes instead of apostrophes and periods, etc? I'm trying to customize these labels so that the font would be smaller and lighter the farther away the aircraft is from the player. Thanks, Bull

F-18 grip, WARTHOG compatible
Invisibull replied to hegykc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Hegykc, this all looks great. I'm really enjoying following you through this process. Could you talk a little about the new joystick base you'll be offering? How will it differ exactly from the TM Warthog base, and are you planning on allowing for any sort of tension adjustments? Oh, and will the 4 mounting screw holes on yours match up with the Warthog's too? Thanks, Bull -
Wondering if anyone knows what the throttle idled warning tone sound file for the Sabre is called. Thanks, Bull

Hi Null. The ai MiG15 is notorious for taking far too much damage. This is why the 39th is starting to get into PvP, Sabre v Sabre fights. Hopefully the quality of the MiG15 ai will improve once Belsimtek releases their MiG15 module. If you're interested in some PvP, feel free to come by our site and see what we're about. Our use of solid red/blue colored skins as well as a flak script is helping a great deal in spotting enemy aircraft.

today, after install F-86, I saw only one paint in mission editor
Invisibull replied to bin801's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
You have to create the folder yourself. I strongly recommend your using JSGME going forward as it will greatly simplify the process of installing/uninstalling skins and mods. -

Go here, set file type to "Skin" and Game to "F-86F Sabre", click on filter and you'll find quite a few skins ready for downloading. Enjoy. -

Can anyone help me Install SweetFX on DCS?
Invisibull replied to Vitormouraa's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
If you're currently using JSGME this will take all of 1 minute to accomplish. Just unzip the attached into your JSGME mod folder. If you're not using JSGME by now, you really should be. After installation, you can change the settings via the SweetFX_settings.txt file. The settings are explained within that file. If you don't have JSGME and refuse to use it, just follow the folder structure and dump the contents into your C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin folder. DCS SweetFX 151.rar
