Try changing the propellor governor to “slider” under the tuning menu using the checkbox. That should allow engine rpm to function normally.

People complaining about airspeeds need to post their flight conditions, engine settings, configuration and especially altitude. Clean, 15ºC at sea level, cowl flaps slightly open and military power (2700 rpm, auto rich), I’m consistently showing 302-5 kts. Could the differences people are complaining about might be due to IAS vs TAS at higher altitude? Make sure you are getting 2700 rpm and maximum manifold pressure. Also, I had to change the prop governor axis to “slider” to get it to work properly.

He has only flown very low horsepower light aircraft. Not sure why he’s wearing a flight suit, perhaps he was in the Civil Air Patrol. With regard to tactical aircraft of any kind, I’d take his judgement for entertainment purposes only. We’re in the “if it’s hard, or feels different from expectations, then it must be broken” phase. Give it time, and don’t forget to have fun!

Dear Junior, You are welcome. I appreciate people who “pop off” with truthful information that is useful to make the user experience better. I look forward to reading your well-researched contributions here in the future. Sincerely, Your Daddy

You’ll find it far more enlightening to take a few minutes to read through the thread and follow some of the links before popping off with an irrelevant point.

https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/the-myth-of-the-british-fixing-the-corsair.63807/ Here is a long discussion about the myths and controversies about the carrier suitability of the Corsair that might be interesting. One of the reasons the F4U was delayed for sea duty in USN service was to avoid the complex logistics of carrying two separate fighter types on a single ship/supply chain. The Navy initially decided to go with the F6F, which was obviously getting the job done.

When you know that you are clear of the stern, chop power to idle, drop nose slightly, then pull the nose back up just before you hit the deck to set the hook. Both moves are slight, a degree or two of pitch. If you’re too fast, it won’t work. Try turning at the bow and pointing the nose at the stern in a curving turn the whole way. The carrier’s movement will put you where you need to be.
-
When you make a throttle change large enough to change propellor rpm, there is also a corresponding pitch change due to the gyroscopic forces involved (90º offset rule). That may be part of what you are seeing, especially in the landing configuration. If you keep at it, you will learn to anticipate the yaw caused by power changes, which will also reduce the pitch changes that are giving you fits. We all have different controllers, but for now, I’ve got heavy springs in my stick base and started with a 25 pitch curve and 30 rudder curve with lots of control authority at high speeds. It will take time to tune some of that out.

A small reminder that the WWII carrier pattern is much lower and closer than the jet pattern that we are used to flying. The long nosed birds flew a curved pattern all the way to the stern. Don’t forget to get the ship moving and/or add some natural wind so you have 30 knots of wind over the deck.

All of the dry lakes on the map are too dark in colour, as if the desert has experienced a week of rain. The real world lakes are very light tan, which makes visual navigation and orientation much easier. They stand out and define the region. A quick peek at any of the mapping apps reveal the truth.

Finally returned from a long trip and had a go. Must agree, it’s better than expected and worth the wait.

DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024

In a little while, the Phantom will drop, this wailing will end, and this will be forgotten by all but a handful of the saddest people on earth. None of this will matter a year from now. The saddest lesson on these pages is how vindictive people have become towards others. It’s a broken world. Some of you would demand that a children’s lemonade stand be shut down if you don’t receive a cookie with your beverage. You would rage on the national lemonade stand forums that the kids be “cancelled” and sent to reform school and the kid’s parents thrown in jail, because you are a “customer” and deserve perfection for the quid you paid at the tiny little enterprise. Of course the same people demanding perfection of a small software gaming business do not apply the same standard to their own conduct or performance. I don’t see any geniuses around here. The only talent seems to be a passion for blind criticism.- 715 replies

Nonsense. It’s not a “disaster”. Only someone very young or very immature, living vicariously staring at screens all day would say something like that, especially after ED has taken responsibility for it. It’s not “normal” behavior to melt down over entertainment, which comes from a strange groupthink dynamic that feeds on itself. The longer you subscribe to it, the more miserable you will be.- 715 replies

DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024

One learns a lot about a person’s character when they are under duress, but this? It is a trivial annoyance at most. I get the sense that a lot of these people struggle to deal with the ebb and flow of normal life. There certainly is a lack of perspective.- 715 replies

Winter’s over!

We would be wise to not get this topic closed. Think about the logic here. The developers must be making some progress, or ED would have pulled the plug on the project and either offered it to someone else, or taken it over themselves. Badgering between players won’t make the Corsair arrive one second quicker, it’s just venting frustration over different personal expectations. There is nothing that we can do about it.

Looks like the recent solar storm stirred up the Corsair drama again!

Not me! Taking off work for software releases is a fool’s errand. Pro tip, wait a day or two before downloading too. -
