  1. Great job Baltic Dragon. I'm on mission 15, and as a former Navy pilot, have to say Bravo. Really nice job capturing the general atmosphere and details of CV ops as well as killbox missions. If I might provide some very minor thoughts for consideration: 1. The player's voice character is waaaay to enthusiastic when talking on the radio. The vast majority of these calls (checking in/out with marshal, strike, etc.) are very mundane, and sound super boring for the most part. 2. I liked the feedback on not following some of the CV launch/recovery procedures. Just food for thought, but no one becomes a fighter pilot to fly 300kts at 500' after being launched from a carrier! That said, I was a bit surprised there doesn't appear to be any point deduction for landing above max trap weight on the boat. Between the CVW SOP that specifies a no lower than fuel state when landing, and the NATOPS max landing weight, fuel management can be a surprisingly challenging aspect of CV ops. Might have been cool to provide some feedback on that in the debrief. 3. CV recovery seems to assume the player and his wingman are the only game in town. IRL, you'd have to hold until the previous launch is complete (which adds some additional fuel planning challenges; see above), then work your way down the stack. This could be simulated by having various sections hold until a specific time, then the player would have to time his entry into the break. Just a thought. Great job overall - this could be used as recruiting material for Naval Aviation as far as I'm concerned!
  2. I’d also add that the ability to dim the IFLOLS pop up window, and knee board card pop up window for night ops would be useful.
  3. I wonder of you could help me out as you seem quite knowledgeable about mods. When I click on the drop box link, I get a message that the content has been deleted. Is this mod still available? For someone new to modding, I downloaded the files and unzipped them. My question is, where do I paste them? I tried putting them in my Saved Games/DCS/Mod/Aircraft, but even though the files are there, when I open DCS, I still get the standard TU-95 with its unimpressive textures. Am I supposed to put the files in the DCS folder somewhere? If so, can someone kindly provide the precise directory for me? Do I need to delete any files already there? It's not clear to me how best to proceed. Thank you!
  4. This is a great example of why I have 2 installs of DCS on my PC. It's a fantastic product overall, but a bit of a polka dance with each new release; 2 steps forward, 1 step back. I just updated my 2nd version to the latest release and wow, the IFLOLS is unusable, and actually distracting (at least for VR, even in the daytime for me with "bloom" deselected). I flew Tomcats and Super Hornets in the Fleet until 2004. Getting the brightness of the meatball and datums right was a big deal. The LSO's would give it their best guess, and as it got darker outside, they would make it dimmer and dimmer. Often, they would ask the pilot who just landed how the brightness was for his/her approach, and then they would make adjustments accordingly. This was mostly an issue during and shortly after sunset - obviously once it was full dark, no further adjustments were necessary. I'm sure a brightness slider for the datums and ball would require some effort, but time well spent IMO. Small suggestion for extra realism while I think about it. Having sparks fly from the tailhook at night would be super cool. When it contacts the deck, sparks would go everywhere. We always referred to a taxi 1 wire as the "sparkle one" arrival. Good times... Keep up the great work ED!
  5. I appreciate the effort. rob10 nailed it with my Windows anti-virus blocking it for some reason. I put my DCS folder on the exceptions list and now it seems to be working fine. Thanks to both of you!
  6. Could anyone kindly translate this into plain English? I just tried to do a repair on my 2nd DCS install (I have 2 versions in separate folders) and got this message: 00472.809 STATUS: Can't move C:\Program Files\DCS 2nd Install\DCS World\Mods/aircraft/F14/bin/F14-HeatblurCommon.dll to C:\Program Files\DCS 2nd Install\DCS World\_backup.001\Mods/aircraft/F14/bin/F14-HeatblurCommon.dll: (225) Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software. 00518.166 === Log closed. I thought the purpose of the repair was to get rid of corrupted files. Should I delete and re-download the entire program? Any help is appreciated!
  7. It would add a good bit of realism if we could configure static aircraft with stores. This is especially true on the boat where for some reason static Hornets & Tomcats are not configured with external fuel tanks (at least a centerline for the Hornet and both for the Tomcat). It is almost unheard of for aircraft on the flight deck to not be configured with external tanks. I know we can place UNCONTROLLED aircraft and configure them on the carrier, but the number of spawn locations is somewhat limited (i.e none on the bow between the cats or on the fantail, where aircraft are almost always parked for launch).
  8. While we're on the topic, has anyone heard of whether ED will fix the rain effect on the canopy? The rain is way too viscous and distorts objects outside the aircraft. Following hand signals from directors on the boat is just about impossible.
  9. Morpheus, Mystery solved. I had put the Mod in a folder labeled 2nd install, but the folder was incorrectly named and that Saved Games folder was actually for a MT thread version. So apparently I have 3 installations... An old OB, and old stable MT, and a new one. Am I understanding this correctly? Your question got me to thinking though, and only by putting another mod in what I thought was my 2nd install, did it become apparent those mods were going into my older MT install. Thanks so much for helping me with troubleshooting my problem! Let me know if ever I can return the favor!
  10. I have DCS 2 installs on my machine. I was able to get it to show up in my older (OB) version, but when I follow the exact same process with the latest version (my 2nd install), no joy. I just can not figure it out. It's an amazing mod BTW.
  11. I don't. It's so odd. All the other mods show up, just not this one. I double checked I downloaded the most recent version..Will this mod only work in Open Beta version ?
  12. Could someone please help me to figure out what I'm doing wrong with this mod? I've downloaded and unzipped the file to my Saved Games>Mods>Aircraft folder, but for some reason it just doesn't show up when I open DCS. I've attached some screenshots in the hope someone can tell me what I might be doing wrong. Thanks in advance.
  13. Agree. Looks like it's gone. Does anyone have any thoughts?
  14. Hello, I'm trying to make a simple mission where a downed pilot is picked up by a helicopter. I've watched a few videos and feel like I am doing everything correctly, but the helicopter just flies by without picking up the downed aviator. Attached are some screenshots of the advanced waypoint actions for both the helicopter and the downed pilot. The embark point is well within the embark zone I created for the heli. Any help would be appreciated here - this seems like it should be fairly straightforward. EMBARK TEST.miz NO EMBARK.trk
