  1. Almost getting the hang of the Spitfire now. Touch and goes and low level passes this time.
  2. I'm no Red Baron or Johnnie Johnson but can fly,  well that's what I call it!

  3. Been asked a few times to show my DCS settings;
  4. Bingo - a word I've heard many times but never used before and I didn't get to shout "house" either more like Nicht schießen
  5. Today, I learned about Bingo!
  6. Trying to amend the external views (make them enabled) on a saved multiplayer track (created from online session today) - created a copy of the trk file and changed the extension to .miz, made the changes in the mission editor and then saved as another .trk file. Seems now any changed .trk file can't be seen and selected by the replay tool, the size of the file is different too. I've even made direct copies of trk files and even they can't then be seen from the replay tool. This was something I did many times before the 2.9 update but I can't actually give a timeline of when it perhaps stopped working as didn't edit replays for a couple months before the 2.9 update. Is this now expected behaviour or a bug? DCS did also crash a few times whilst in the mission editor, not something that happened 3 months ago.
  7. Re learning how to bomb in the Spitfire, 2000' drop height is there for a reason!
  8. The 2nd flight of the day, a low level out and return to bomb a pop up AAA site near (insert name) airfield. I forgot my bombing SOP'S
  9. Been eyeing up new controllers for a while now and finally ordered some Virpil controllers. Saw their Black Friday % off and thought it's now or never. Ordered the Warbird Grip, Warbird D-Base, Ace Flight pedals and the CM3 Throttle to replace my aging TH T16000m and not quite so old TWCS throttle. 2 items in stock and 2 on back order so not sure how long I'll have to wait for delivery! I did put a lot more in my basket then thought better of it!
  10. Ah, ok I've mainly flown on the 4YA Normandy training server and only a few times on the Project Overlord server - where I hardly saw a soul -4k user pre 2.9 update - I'll be giving Overlord a go later this week now the dots are better.
  11. I had a similar thing happen, paid for an item, animal related not DCS, via PayPal friends family and the owners started being difficult, not arranging pickup etc. I have a Credit card as the payment vehical for my PayPal account contacted them, stated a Charge Back claim and got my money back within 4 weeks of claiming. Friends family payment matters not to a CC payment. I always use a CC never cash, debit or anything other than a CC to pay for anything, have had numerous successful charge backs over many years. Yes I realise that the retailer pays for me to use but I gave up being taken for a ride a loooong time ago. Not too sure how the money exchange works but for next time perhaps.
  12. I have Wake Turbulence selected on, do many actually have it on and is it not liked on Multiplayer servers as don't believe I've experienced it online - but then I try not to follow directly behind.
  13. Loving the improved Spitfire!!
  14. Took a few months away from DCSWorld, lets just say I was more disappointed than actually blown away with what I was being served. Yes, I know I only started DCS earlier this year this doesn't mean I can't have opinions or have to like what I see. 2.9 dropped and its resultant patch, bit of a game changer if you ask me, all good improvements as far as I'm concerned. Jumped back into the Spitfire to try out all the improvements! Hope you like the results as much as I do.
  15. As a 4k user and new to DCS 8 mths ago. I did simply walk away from DCS after about 3 maybe 4 months , one of the reasons was dot spotting. Couldn't spot a thing, single player mode or multiplayer. I was so disappointed. Then 2.9 dropped and along with other issues that I had with DCS, which all seem to have been addressed. What an update! Only had one or 2 sessions this weekend but I'm ready for more!
  16. Been neglecting DCS for a few weeks, here's a very recent, yesterday, trip across the channel in my BF-109K4. It could've nearly ended in disaster...
  17. Had a few weeks off doing something less boring instead. Jumped straight back in the K4 for a lindy hop across the channel. Little did I know how it would end up...
  18. I've no Rudder pedals just the t16000m twist stick, I've mapped the wheel brakes to the 2 orange finger throttle buttons on my twcs throttle. The BF is the only prop so far the rudder, being so small and with a twist stick causes more trouble than it's worth so manage the TO roll with brakes. You can see in 2nd video toe brakes more clearly. The first video just generally read a little bit watched a couple of YouTubes and away I went....did well to not crash on TO but not knowing about the manual to auto prop governor got me soon afterwards! I did check the TO assistance as it seems to be reset to 100 % after every update, for me at least. All off and at 0%. I'm waiting for the right time to announce the new Virpil stick, throttle and pedals at 900 odd euros to SWMBO (not urgently required so waiting for the right moment)! Also waiting for another Virpil site wide discount too. Also agree, more experience required with the BF but I have a good base now to work from, it can only get better?
  19. And now for something completely different, Let's try the BF109 K4 Kurfürst! Take off and landings, I'm only showing the take-offs as the landing where completely uneventful sorry to say. Here's the 2nd take off attempt, the first ended in a ground loop. And attempt number 17....
  20. And 17 attempts later... Thanks for the useful advice, you beat me to my next post. Cracked it!
  21. Ah, interesting - have 32" for my PC may try on the lounge 65" in that case to see how that plays out....
  22. Think I need a breather, almost got the hang of TO's, landings always found a fair bit easier so I thought I'd take the K4 online. Glad I chose the PVE 4YA Normandy server, as the AI beasted me and those AI Spits are really sticky. Delt with a P47 easy enough though my aim in the K4 is suffering. The first Spit holed my block so had to dead stick to the first blue airfield I saw. Took off again and saw a Spit making a bee line straight for me on the map. I couldn't gain an altitude advantage, think spent a good while trying to counter him with my vertical moves. I know not to horizontal turn much in this. Though I need to practice lead with the 151's and 108, kept falling behind him when I manged to twice get on his 6. I ended up diving for the deck and think the AI lawn darted himself as at 550kph 50m alt racing along suddenly the AI wasn't there, manoeuvre kill lol. Need to get used to the view from the cockpit, also must remember to amend the curve for my head tracking, bit too sharp and fine tuning the headtracking axis to -10 works a treat, used on my other prop planes and its smoothes out the movement good. 4k, is not good for spotting, but loathe to lower the resolution as its so nice.
  23. Hi, yes thanks, its been my go to for the last few days!
  24. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I'm just going on my IT experience with an online business that is still one of the top 3 in what it offers, customers were and are the priority no matter what. Though down time for an online business is different from DCS where the turn over per hour would be a lot less, way less in fact. So maybe an outage that would cost a fair bit in either hardware or on-line services to remediate is considered a price too high. Planned worked was undertaken with high regard for service availability with 5 9's uptime for the duration. Yes agreed, every online service has outages, but I feel and know any unplanned outages are not considered in the same light as planned worked causing an outage. In my experience that is, with the various companies I have worked with. Maybe you also have the same experience of such. In any case I've had fair warning that 1, I'm new, 2, I shouldn't be so quick to point the finger and 3, of course I'll enjoy the results, as I said in my first post, DCS is a world class product. Ironic though, the post above this (ok the one above that now), DCS users still having issues 34 hours after the update dropping.
