After this update all of my purchased props had the Take of Assistant set back to 100%. All bar the TF-51D and the SU-25T (no slider for ToA for this AC) Is this known or unexpected?

What do we know about the Second World War in this region?
Toastfrenzy replied to OnReTech's topic in DCS: Sinai Map
As I fly props only, there won't be any content for props, online etc so no need to buy, other than for flying by myself? More a fast mover map? -
That's good! Can see I'm not far off with my air speeds and controls at various points. One thing I do differently is turn finals a bit higher - gives me a bit of breathing room should anything happen. I have saved my tracks and plan to take the 2nd and last attempt (which I'm flying today - now can get back on) and make a short video too. Makes sense - did briefly try the 3 prop settings again yesterday, definitely preferred the 1230 manual setting, far shorter TO run, bit more full on but at the moment the less opportunity to PIO the better! Thanks again.

As a new start-up player with DCS world and here I'm thinking what is this - unable to play world that I've joined because of a release and the mass of eager players held at bay due to demand. Demand so high that it brings the whole service crashing down. Literally no one can play? What an absolute mess, this update process is, a service unable to scale due to load that's known to happen every time an important - expected update is released. In this world of scalable services, hardware, solutions available to keep things running - Honestly it pains me to be so disappointed for DC world, ED has not the foresight to think the expense of a scalable solution worthy of investing in to prevent this from happening. A relative easy fix, load balance your services, split your service functions to separate servers (we're talking basics here tbh) and give back the trust and faith we have put in your for you excellent product. If DCS wasn't as good as it is would we be as compliant as to brush this off as - Oh this happens every time, be ok in a day - or 2! DCS World, ED, @BIGNEWY you can't honestly think that this is feature of a world class product that I've (we all have) invested my (our) hard earned in, I'm (we're) now to expect chaos every time there's an update?

I did use this saw it and tried it out a few weeks ago now, pity it's been blocked with no ED replacement. Though not seen any errors on launching DCS or is it blocked for multilayer?

Had a few more fly outs in the BF, tried a few different variations on the control settings, power, prop etc. Here's what works for me. Most is all taken from above and maybe some advice from the many youtube vid's out there. Trim to -1 Prop to 1230 manual No flaps, clean AC I set MW50 to on Rads to auto Power around 1.1 to 1.3 ata Fly tail after 110-120km Rotate faster than I would think, around 180km or above, way more fight control authority Right stick and on plenty of right wheel brake to keep straight, with left to stop a pio Once off the ground wheels up and a push forward to keep speed increasing Prop governor to auto All still require finesse but fairing better than the 3 AI who once attempted TO's before me onetime, all crashed....? I didn't seem to get the power with 1130 Prop set, which lead to a slower more un controlled TO flight. Same with Auto set, power seemed a bit random. But with more practice neither should pose too much of a problem I shouldn't think. Is 1230 the most pull with the Prop getting finer, less pull the at 1130 1030 etc?

Wow, thanks for all the help, really appreciated. Reading all the replies I can see where I have made errors. Trim too far back maybe Prop to 1230 Too much power 1.4 at least maybe and then WOT in desperation Rotated too early for sure Stick was back, but I probably flew the tail too early Sure I left MW off - but the pre take off says on IIRC? I did leave rads in Auto - I'm trying to make all my HOTAS buttons the same, easy where most have a toggle function but the BF mainly has on off so working through the most used and amending adding as I go. I'm sure I recently checked all my Props for Auto rudder etc after updating a week or so ago - but will check again - does this happen after every update? Just logged on and checked, the only Props set to 100\auto were the P-47 and A8 - I've not used either yet. Also in my haste to get in the cockpit - accepted bad weather for my first two attempts - Normandy blanket fog, when I got airborne on the 2nd go and after I dead sticked myself - glided back to the airfield location then got disorientated with the fog cover and lawn darted myself. It was a no fly day for sure.

Had a few good flights out in the Spit recently, mainly on the 4YA Normandy training server. I did have a go on at the PvP Normandy server but I must say more people saw me than I saw them. Shot down once and saved a few times with a helpful "Spit break" shout out over the comms. I really want to get the track of where I'm trailing friendly bombers and I hear "Spit trailing bombers break!" I kid you not I saw orange shots flash by as I pulled so hard I immediately blacked out - He climbed back into the clouds. I have the track on my PC but this was before I knew that DCS automatically saves each online track to the tracks\multiplayer folder. I now have a fair few to go though, and its a slow process as the DCS replay function is somewhat prehistoric. 4k really is a hinderance with out any map aids as I'm now finding out. Dots are a pain for sure - thought I left that behind in WT.

After the TF-51, then the P-51 followed by the Spitfire, how hard could it be? A ground loop on the first take off....walked away from it The 2nd attempt went ok until the wheels left the ground, with full right rudder and full right stick and a bit of a forward push I managed to survive the crazy attitude take off only to fall foul, 5 mins later, of forgetting to switch the auto prop governor on after take off - not that I knew this at the time..... 3rd attempt lifted off with more speed, less of the jaunty attitude but still required a lot of right stick and right rudder - far too much IMO so I must be doing something wrong - forgetting something? I did however mange to land it rather successfully so it's not all bad. I stopped at the 3 attempts and will continue later on.

A 90-minute 4YA training session, starting off with Spitfire bombing techniques followed by ground strafing both with some success. Total of 2 trips in the 90 mins, had to land and re arm with a total of 4 aircraft downed following the early bombing and gun runs. Had a Mosquito take off as I approached my final landing of the day, forced a go around. No 3-point landing to finish but happy with the landing anyway. Bit of a longer video than I normally put together, not sure it works that well without a voice over (or some music) but that's something I either need to work on or continue with videos less than 60 secs. -
Getting the hang of the Spitfire..

No not here, I have the BK Gamer Plus and it's really good, get all the effects and it's spot on. I just have warbirds including the Spitfire and I use it with SSA with the audio add on. -
Great, thanks. Yes, I was missing key bind for Landing Flaps Extend (Hold). Press when at the degrees required.
-
I can see 10, 20, 30, 40 degree segments on the deployed flaps, though all I've been able to do is set flaps to either fully down or up. Can the P-47 flaps be lowered in segments? If so, can someone explain for me please, thanks?

A kill (AI), my first with the Spitfire LF MK IX also my first attempt at editing a DCS World replay.

Bit late to the party....and a holy thread revival.....but my first Spitfire Mk IX AI kill.....a momentous DCS World milestone for me! and my first attempt at editing an after action report with DCS

Thanks, I hadn't used the P-51's demist, noticed it was there when looking for swiches to map. I'll look forward to the re-worked Spitfire as I think I may be flying this the most out of the 3 props I have.

Looks like the OP and I started the spit around the same time - and have had some similar experiances, with using and and the graphics. After reading the posts in this thread, glad to konow i'm on the right track and also worked out the changes required more or less by trial and error! Here's a few of my TO and landing attempts, pretty comonplace from all accounts.

Lined up the Spitfire after flying the P-51D for about 3-4 weeks, must say it's a lot more sensitive and almost effortless to fly. More worried about VNE than keeping speed up as I was in the P-51, after firing up DCS about 4-5 weeks ago for the first time. Though I do miss the sensations you get when actually flying, as you instinctively move the controls to counter the effects and can react to the picture changing quicker than it seems I can in DCS. My reactions are a lot better now than 4 weeks ago - just a case of relearning the cues. I'm no RL pilot just did a fair bit of gliding back in the day. I do find the Spitfire graphics - compared with later developed modules, a bit old hat - the canopy for one. All those Perspex scratches. Having worked on fast jets and slow ones too. I doubt the scratches would pass the BF or even be mentioned in the Lim log. Does it always seem to be foggy when looking near to the sun. Can't see any demist controls as in the P-51? Do modules ever get re-worked, updated at all? My landinds 8-12 are below for those interested. The nose is espcially long, so I don't think i'll ever arrive finals low again! Only wing tips were harmed in the making of this montage!

I'm 5 weeks into DCS World, I only have props, P-51 - Spit, BF109 and I use easy comms so no manual freq' changes. Do I have to be concerned about using the wrong radio? Do warbirds have multiple radios in DCS - I can't see any but then again I'm no expert. I found this thread when searching has a decent .pdf explaining a few things. Posted this here as the thread is in the A-10C topic.
