  1. Holy thread revival..... But the information contained herewith in, is still valid. I'm only 5 weeks into DCS World, I only have props, P-51 - Spit, BF109 and I use easy comms so no manual freq' changes. Do I have to be concerned about using the wrong radio? Do warbirds have multiple radios in DCS - I can't see any but then again I'm no expert.
  2. I think it said miles wouldn't be accrued for this transaction as already discounted, plus I didn't know about miles anyway and paying £3 for a decent map got me all hot and sweaty. But what a glorious map!
  3. Thanks for your reply and a great MOD too. I'm into keeping it simple, Cheers!
  4. As a 4k flyer, just starting out in DCS, to say I have been disappointed to even know that this is a thing....having spent the best part of 10 years with WT and it's dot's I thought things would be different in DCS. Similar dot\spotting issues it seems. I've been struggling to spot other aircraft that the map shows are within a couple of miles, added this MOD and test flew the Normandy 2 map and and was amazed that I could see other planes with out straining my eyes or neck. The euphoria felt when seeing a simple dot! I'm a 100% prop WWII flyer, at the moment, so this MOD is not a deal breaker for me. A couple questions; How do I keep up to date with this MOD's revisions? It's been mentioned earlier that how to mange the MOD after an ED DCS update - how is this manged as I haven't' had to mange MODs before?
  5. All good, works a treat, thanks!
  6. Just bought Normandy 2 for $3.45!!!! New to DCS, 4weeks in, bought some props, Channel map and asset pack too. Turns out I amassed some miles and could use those to fund this. Bit of a result and for a change in my favour. Now off to DL and see what's it all about!
  7. Hi @f4l0 The re-install seemed to resolve the earlier problem, set up and now using - all is fine except I get no effect when firing the P-51 guns? When testing generic guns through the sound module it all works, but in DCS with P-51 firing guns no effects felt. I've added a screenshot of my tuned settings.
  8. @f4l0 Hi, Just installed, plugged in my new buttkicker plus , getting these errors. The app doesn't auto start, when starting manually. I've updated .Net etc - didn't have any updates to apply. Trying uninstall reinstall see if anything changes Win 11 I9 32GB 4090 all less than 2 months old
  9. Thanks Andre - just sent email too! I'll plug the Buttkicker Plus in and see if I can select under the dedicated sound card options.
  10. I already have this USB sound card, link below; Vention Would this be enough to work with a Buttkicker Plus I've just ordered? I've also emailed, Andre, for licence. Interested to see how this works out as do miss the "other effects" when flying as I'm always trying to be heads up and only glancing at the dials. Cheers
  11. Awesome, thanks for this - I'm sorted now, I checked the axis - there weren't any spurious rudder entries though. I used the axis tune button +10 tired it out then + another 10 to 20. No more erratic rudder! I used this axis tune on my head tracking axis - watched a YouTube video from the Air Warfare Group a week ago where they showed how to smooth out head tracking. So applied that method to the rudder after you reminded me it was an axis.
  12. I have the TM T16000 - and I am increasingly meeting problems with the twist rudder - I PIO a fair bit on take off that generally ends up with a crash. If I'm super solid with rudder it's all good. Flying, it seems that no matter how small I try to make the input full deflection is guaranteed. I'm still in the process of sorting, looking and generally trying to decide on what to replace with. As also don't have a separate throttle. Where's the first place to look, it all works, as expected, in MS usb controller. Even getting the input flight control display up, in DCS, it seems to behave ...
  13. You can choose either twist adaptor or no twist for some of their sticks - check out the product order page and the choice will be there or not. edited my earlier post with warbird info
  14. The warbird base is not recommended for extensions as the deflection forces put components too close so they interfere. Just read this and now can't find the page, typical. Found the page, copied the text. So the base itself is fine, just the clearance of grip to desk using their mounts, but the lack of warranty would be an issue for the base its self. From the WarBRD product page: Using Extensions with the VPC WarBRD Base While it is possible to use extensions on the VPC WarBRD base, it is primarily designed for non-extended use. Due to the large deflection angle it is possible that you may encounter clearance issues between the grip and the VPC Desk Mount. During certain maneuvers it could be possible to damage your grip by hitting the desk mount. The included cams and springs are also tailored for non-extended setups. Using any extensions on the VPC WarBRD is at the user's responsibility. Any damages caused to VPC devices (grips) by using an extension on the VPC WarBRD base will not be covered under warranty.
  15. Yes, I think I'd not be using my money effectively if I went with a TMWH setup at this stage - I'm not a beginner but no expert. Already I'm wanting to chuck my TM 16000m out the window as I PIO down the runway! I don't have a separate throttle at the moment either so cross hands and mouse at the moment. I have a razor optical keyboard where you can slowly press to get less but it's not as good etc. Looking at both Virpil WarBRD, cm2 base ( I like the idea of the desk mounts), their throttle (nice!) with pedals is 1157 euros all in... But would I be happy with the warbird if I wanted to fly jets?
  16. Yes, the stick base is putting me off - very old ball and socket joint lol
  17. I remember when these first came out. Having dropped serious flight sim a number of years ago now starting out again, fired up DCS a few days ago for the first time. Looking for a hotas but favouring the Warthog set up - mainly due to price can pick up, new, for the price of a FOTM stick etc. Are they still well revered as 13 years ago? Would I regret not choosing from the likes of Virpil, VKB and Winwing or are they pretty much similar, build quality etc? I'll mainly be in a prop. I do plan to get a VR head set during this year later on I should think.
  18. Ah thanks for the memory jolt, I have paid and used Voice Attack a few years ago. I'll see if I can resurrect that as that'll help. Seen other peoples experiences with the X56 and doubt I'll go there. Did have a look already at Virpil, VKB and Winwing but I'm getting drawn to the cost effective function over form - TH Warthog Hotas set. There are some decent new deals on this "old" set up. Did take a look at CH Products as had their Fighter stick, throttle and pedals before. Nothing has evolved there at all and I won't be going back to them. I did have to go through 3 fighter sticks and it was a pain dealing with CH Products then having to liaise with a UK distributor for actual replacement. Though I'm getting drawn to the Varjo Aero headset. Seems to be well supported and reading the issues that have been posted all have been resolved in a couple of days. There, of course, maybe the bad cases that I've not seen\read. Integration with DCS, seems easy enough, OpenXR, OpenXR tools. A good bit of set up help in this forum. I don't use Steam at all so I don't think this will be an issue. No onboard audio which though not a problem, I defiantly don't want to use in ear buds so guess I could still use the headset mic set up I currently use over the top. Looks a bit weird, seen a few others using this way.... I'll have to plump for the warthog if I decide on the Aero for sure! Edit, got my VA licence emailed through, bought back in 2015 version 1.1.1
  19. Lol, my 4th ... fired up DCS just a few days ago and like it a lot.
  20. Thanks for all the advice thus far - as for recommendations not really after a buy this because xyz more after a generalisation\pointers\gottchas where by I can make an informed choice overall. As really personal choice is, well, personal. I've just googled HP G2 cable problems and there are a lot of unhappy customers out there, along with warranty issues too - that's a good shout as there's no way I want to be involved with issues like that. Doesn't matter if the product is the best out there, I've learned if there's no support etc then the product is worthless. I've not set a budget yet as it ranges from £500 to £1800+ looking at the Pimax offerings - but the weight of these at 800 - 900grammes nearly a kilo on your head - not sure how this would feel and is slightly putting me off these along with the cost! Also, if the headset is not offered from a UK distributor with a UK warranty then I'm not buying that particular headset - been there and not doing that again. Started using the Android Smooth Track app with opentrack on my PC again, works really well, though still have to keep tuning as I go. Was a minimal cost @ £10 a few years ago so for a DCS try before you buy it's working out really good. Had a few flights in the free P-51. All good there but I have forgotten how many key binds are needed - clickable cockpit helps. I'm just not used to managing the engine, prop and other systems after many years in WT. How is all this managed with a VR headset - as keyboard is not visible - just with key binds or something else? I've only a 16000M at the moment, sold all my CH products a long time ago. I'm sure to pull the trigger on the 109, Spit, P-51, Channel map and asset pack pretty soon as it's 50% of for new joiners. I wonder if this will qualify me for the reduced price Normandy 2 map that's on it's way soon?
  21. Thanks, had a look at the link, all decent info, some outdated but still OK. I read somewhere that HP are withdrawing from the VR market soon?
  22. Hi, I'm looking for a VR head set that will be future proof and be as good as it can be , FPS, FOV etc. trouble is I don't know much about them or the software that's required to use in conjunction with the headset - I thought you bought the headset ran the installer opened your game, configure and away you go. After reading this forum that appears far from actual reality. There isn't a definitive instruction set as everyone seems to have a different approach, budget, wants, FOTM etc. If there's a thread\threads on here that someone can link that gives ideas etc. I've used TrackIR and other head tracking ways in past sims, started with EAW etc back in '98 or so but have been out of the Flight Sim game a few years now. Picked up a WT Gaijin habit (bit of a half way house) a few years ago and have maybe reached the limit of my one game fits all my needs. Now possibly looking for the next addition so thought I'd give DCS a try.
