DCS Visrtual Cockpit for Android (iControl DCS)
TigersharkBAS replied to boarder2's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I suspect it is required for Bonjour which allows for zero configuration networking. In other words, it is used to allow the app to seamlessly connect to your PC over wifi without you having to configure any IP addresses or f**k around with network settings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonjour_(software) -

A-10 Warthog Plug and Play Electrical panel
TigersharkBAS replied to Nathan Fuentes's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Welcome Nathan....yeah...you might have more luck with an AHCP arming panel, which gets used regularly during a mission. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=175208 My top panels (in priority order) that would justify an individual plug and play without making a whole pit: - UFC (small added complexity due to Master Caution light) - AHCP (same complexity as an electrical panel) - Radio Panels (added complexity due to rotary switches and frequency display) - CDU (very complex) - Panel under the CDU (the one where you select Mission/Steerpoint/Flight Plan) with 2 rotary switches and the steer point -
They aren't cheap. As I mentioned Glider_UK made them for me and from memory they probably ran about 50 bucks for 3 pieces. A clear acrylic piece, a black spacing piece and then the top engraved panel. The enclosure box ran me about 20 bucks. The USB extender I found cheap on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201289068922?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT All in you are looking to spend around $50-$100 on making one of these. You can also use a Arduino to cut down your costs but you need a little bit of technical knowledge (or be keen to learn). Your biggest expense is the engraved panel and a bigger problem is finding someone who can do it for you. I don't think Glider_UK does this anymore. Some others do...like LynxDK.

Hi there, Thought I'd share a competed AHCP build. Panel by Glider_UK. Internals are Groovy Game Gear GP-Wiz40.

Ian.....you were on the money. Once I modified the sketch to disregard pins 0 and 1 everything behaved normally. Thanks a lot man!
-
Thanks again. I will check the Sketch code and if it is still funky I will post the sketch as well. Thanks for your time Ian.

Hi Ian, I couldn't figure out how to log output to socat to a file so I made a video explaining the weirdness. ${1}
-
OK...thanks for that. May I suggest that something is added to inform the player of this? I know changing the voice over is probably not on the table but one of those text hints could mention destroy BRDM and enemy combatants until Whiplash orders you home.
-
The issue I am talking about is after they take casualties and bug out. I get a report they have dusted off and I continued to circle WP 2 waiting for more orders. I had taken care of the BRDM that was barreling down on the SF forces and some troops in the trees. But after circling around WP2 for 10 mins I gave up and RTBed.
-
OK...great feedback on what I can do troubleshoot this. I will experiment and report back. Thanks again Ian.
-
thanks for the reply Ranger. Also look into the trigger after the helos report they are back at Suse. I flew around WP2 for 15 mins with nothing telling me what to do. So I RTBed only to get a 50% complete failed result. Also...in mission 1. I RTBed and Hawg to landed and just parked int the middle of the runway preventing other planes to land.

I really appreciate all the work that has gone into this campaign. The immersion is great. The problem is like most things that are scripted it is just highly susceptible to funky whims of software. First time on mission 2. C130 crashed too far out. Sat on tarmac for 20 mins before I gave up. Second time...c130 crashes close by....get to take off...support troops all the way until dust off....circle for 15 mins....return to base...get a failure message. I don't know...it just seems like an exercise in frustration. How do i know when things are done. What is a show of force at 400m? Does that mean a fly over? Attack them. I want to love this campaign and I can I see a LOT or work in it...but it doesn't feel like a polished product. Not because it doesn;t have good production values but because all kinds of random quirks in scripting mean anything can happen and you end up flying the mission over and over again.

Will do...at work at the moment but will post later.

Unfortunately using delay(10) in the loop (placed after the DcsBios code) did not change anything. Some pins behave normally....others broadcast 3 lines each press instead of one down press and one up press.
-
That sounds awesome Warhog! I got it working with a simple if statement and the advanced function Ian mentioned. The whole DCS Bios is such a significant body of work and a great credit to Ian. We owe so much to some of the pioneers in this area. Gadroc and whole bunch of people who share their knowledge so readily. Thanks for all the replies. I will take the opportunity to ask one more thing. I am getting terrible bounce on my tactile switches. Such that for some they even show values for others. I am simulating a UFC and when I press UFC 2 button the values it sends to the sim are UFC 2 and then a UFC 1 press. Some pins show rock solid press down and press up messages. But most pins send three messages and send them all over the place. Is this due to bounce? If so...why are some pins handling it fine and others not? I am using pins 0-12 on a Arduino Uno R3. Omron tactile momentary switches. No pull down resistors or anything like that. For example...when pressing the UFC 2 key, the serial program receives UFC_2 0 UFC_1 1 UFC_1 0 Which is weird....this particular switch goes to pin 2. But pin 8 consistently gives me good results with a UFC_8 1 then a separate message UFC_8 0 on release of the switch. Any thoughts?

Cheers Ian!

Auto startup bug Mission 1?
TigersharkBAS replied to TigersharkBAS's topic in A-10C Operation Piercing Fury Campaign
Hi Bignewy, That was it....I had it turned on and it worked fine after that. Don't normally do auto starts but do it these days to save time. Thanks for the reply. All good now. -
Hey Ian, finally had the time to use DCS-BIOS and it is a fine piece of software. Really appreciate all the effort you have put into this. Quick question. Has anyone connected a NeoPixel (from Adafruit) to DCS BIOS. It needs to use a routine called show() in order to trigger the light. I could just modify LED.h but I wondered if anyone had any thoughts. Regards, Tigershark

Looking for a UFC panel for my own project and don't have anything to make my own. I know Lynx has one in development but anyone selling one now?

Auto startup bug Mission 1?
TigersharkBAS replied to TigersharkBAS's topic in A-10C Operation Piercing Fury Campaign
So just me then? -
Hi there, Anyone noticed this issue? I launch the campaign. Hit Right Windows Home for auto startup....about 2 mins in the aircraft begins to shut down and Master Caution goes bananas. Happens every single time around the same place in the startup sequence. Anyone else notice this?
