Did you ever get it working?

It's been a minute since I've posted, and I did say I was leaving DCS .. However, I have been watching .... And all I can say is Holy **** !! I made a promise to myself to really pay attention to 2 things when it comes to DCS .. Maps, and Developers .. (aside from 1) I have to admit, UGRA hit it OUT OF THE PARK with this one, and knowing future enhancements and expansion is coming is a huge bonus.. If I had to vote on Product of the Year, this would be it.. I tried the map to do a sort of vr performance review and was completely blown out of the water. My initial 'test' video to see how bad the impact was in vr, turned out to be my actual posted video ! It is that good ! I'm not one for words (unless I'm bitching about something lol) but this has GOT TO BE THE BEST addition to DCS this year .. It's early I know, and I'm really looking forward to the 29 and Typhoon, but I'm gonna bet that this takes top spot of the year .. Only my 2 cents (or whatever that works to tariff-wise), but I can say with confidence that NOT buying this map would be lacking in judgement. (Financial situations aside).. A million kudos UGRA !!!

THIS IS THE BEST POST I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME !! It is very PC and polite (which lately I have a hard time accomplishing when it comes to this 'sim') and is pretty much direct and to the point. Well spoken Raven !! My only issue is the last sentence.. I do agree, but I'd like to add ... For how long ..

How hard is it to post a short 4 line code snippet of an example LUA file to at least get us to have a starting point for custom liveries? Nevermind myself, but you have excellent campaign creators in the likes of Reflected and Baltic (and many more) who you have essentially blocked from progression.. Such a shame ..

To everyone who has weighed in this post, I FIRESTMOST (is this a word?) and foremost apologize ..) I did not intend for this to become any sort of debate or discussion regarding anything DCS or ED related past, present, or future.. It was designed strictly to point out my observations as I saw them at the time of posting. I did take some time as both Nine and Beirut said, and just fly.. Enjoy the sim.. And you know what? It worked .. I spent some time just doing some SAR in the Huey, and some much needed target elimination in the Apache, and just forgot about everything else.. I played DCS as it was meant to be played .. With as much immersion and emotion possible. Are there things inherently wrong with DCS? Yes, of course ! Are they a deal-breaker? Well that depends on your level of expectation. In my case, I want it all, I want it right, and I want it NOW!!. Is that possible? NO !! I understand that and as Nine pointed out, I would say I was suffering from a bit of burnout, and a step (or 4) back made me realize this.. Once I went back to doing what I initially set out to do in DCS, and ignored the rest, my (imagined??) problems went away... I know we keep hearing that things are coming to DCS, and it all seems out of reach the way thin\s go, but I think we have to keep it together emotionally and not lash out (as myself did) and keep the experience of DCS alive.. I myself was a HUGE fan of LOMAC, and it's simplicity is unparalleled compared to todays DCS... BUT ... I am not a fan of being misled .. Are we being misled?? I don't know.. Sometimes it feels as such ..What is the new term nowadays? Gaslighting? Sometimes it feels that way as well .. My earlier post made reference to paintkits,, Newy mentioned the F5 coming by the Christmas update, Nine mentioned not for a while (to keep it simple read above), and to me this is the problem within.. There is no actual transparency to us, and 2 people whom I look up to with the highest regards, have differing statements. I do believe Nine's is the most accurate statement here, as it makes 2 tons worth of sense, but it still shows a little on the side of right hand doesn't know about left hand... And I think that's where ALL of the dissention comes from .. Again,. my 2 cents, and hope I'm not over-thinking this .. Nine, and B-Newy, you're the goats in a very foggy storm !Thank you for all you try and do !

Yes, it's a shame. On my end, the people that I've convinced to come to DCS, I've also recently told them to wait pending future 'updates'

It is with much regret that I decide to part ways with DCS. The thought has been brewing in the back of my mind for some time now, but I kept putting it off, making excuses for this or that, I have other things to worry about, etc, etc. Lately i have been absent from actually flying, and concentrating on fulfilling my agreements with custom liveries .. This is where things really hit home for me.. Not only is the DCS core full of bugs and problems (which we all know about and have come to love), especially with each update, but even the simplest of tasks (and i mean that figuratively) like painting custom skins, has become such a headache. Yes, I'm ecstatic that ED provides paintkits .. But .. they are incomplete "IN MY MIND" .. What should have taken approx no more than 10 minutes, took more than an hour to try and figure out the Board numbers for the Flanker.. Why? Because those files weren't included in the 'kit'. It's just one more thing on my growing list of incomplete things in DCS that I seem to be trying to overcome lately.. On the topic of paint, where is the Tomcat kit? How long ago was it promised? Is it a Heatblur thing or ED thing? I'm not hating on either, I love them both to death (check my purchases lol) How do we paint the new F5.. the descriptions are absolutely horrendous when trying to figure out F5 vs FC2024, etc. Overall I'm not disappointed in the general state of DCS, but more like I feel it's very disorganized and haphazard, and almost seems to be trending towards the worst. Just my 2 cents, that really in Canadian currency means nothing, but to me, it's a concerning observation.

@TEMPEST.114 Did they finally get this to work in multiplayer? ( Notes: Cannot be used on client aircraft in multiplayer I know the wiki notes are from 2022 but maybe it's been rectified since?) If so, I'll use it as well, but I've just assumed it to be not working in that environment. When it comes to stuff like this I'll take your advice (and Rudel's) over mine anyday

The only way I know of is by using "StopGap". It is technically scripting, but needs no configuration (aside from adding a simple command in the mission editor). I use it faithfully and have had no problems whatsoever. See link below ...

Thanks for all you time and hard work @TEMPEST.114. At least I know I wasn't pulling my hair out for lack of seeing the obvious. Yes, it's definitely been a pain trying to figure this out and moving forward, I'll continue to use the workaround (of using the default freq) and in the meantime hopefully it will be easier to just teach him the radio systems and be done with it . Although from current experience, that too will be a chore . Thank you again !

Couldn't agree more . And as he'll be on the ground in that scenario when tuning the radio, he won't have to worry about controlling the bird at the same time. I couldn't figure out a way to automatically tune to different bands, so I've worked around it by keeping the adf on default freq, using multiple beacons with the same freq, and just turning them on and off as needed. I'll just split the scenarios in two, and use the second part to have him do the tuning.

Yes I was trying a whole lot of trial and error and getting hugely frustrated which is why I thought scripting it might be easier. @TEMPEST.114 I did find the post you referenced, thanks a ton for that ! I'll still probably have to test and retest and test some more, but this will be a great base to start with. If I can manage to do what I would like to do (client lands in specified zone, adf frequency automatically switches to next beacon), I will gladly post back my solution. (I'm trying to help a "new-to-flight" friend learn the basics of navigation by instrument, without him needing to fiddle with the radios just yet) Thanks again to you both !

Hi all. Just wondering if it's at all possible to set the Huey ADF to a specific frequency with some sort of script. I've looked at Mist and Moose but I don't see anything that readily jumps out at me, but I could have missed it. Is it even possible? Thanks for any insight you can give.

Yes, that's why I am so happy about my specific outcome. Knowing that those 3 are heavy hitters and finally ending up with something that is perfectly usable now is just fantastic. I really hope that the solution that worked for me, is as simple for others who might be struggling with the same problem. This would be a blessing

After a couple of hours of taxiing, takeoffs, and landings, I can say that MOST of my issue is gone. Instead of stutters when going from the F10 map and back to cockpit, now I have just the very slightest hint of lag when turning my head quickly from side to side (on the ground). And it only seems to be present in the Apache and Tomcat (for me) and only on the ground. I did all my testing on the Marianas map and these are the only 2 aircraft showing any sort of issue after installing the mod. For my personal situation, I'm calling it a win. I'm much happier now than I was previously . Again thanks to everyone !

I also just installed the VR Hanger Mod, and with just a very quick test, my stutters going from F10 and back to cockpit view seem to be gone. I will do a proper flight and test a little more thoroughly but as of right now it seems to be the fix for me. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread ! Excellent information !

I can't speak for Reflected, but myself I am using the Reverb G2 (I probably should have made that clear as well). But thank you for sharing your insight anyway, much appreciated Edit: Spelling
