It's not very funny what happened with my VR hands
Ahdidaas replied to Skopikus's topic in Virtual Reality
I have no hands -- DCS isn't seeing my Quest Pro controllers as input devices either. -
There's a fix for the quad-views issue in 2.9.6:
-
fixed Quest Pro Extreme Jitter while looking forward using quad view
Ahdidaas replied to Tomcat388th's topic in VR Bugs
Quad-Views needed some tweaks after 2.9.6. Someone on youtube has a fix: Worked perfectly for me! -
Same.

I'm having the same problem. Appears to be an issue w/ 2.9.6 -- I bet related to the fact that the launch flow now includes a new step. Kinda a pain as I don't have internet this weekend. Here's a link to another thread about it: /yes date and time are fine.. I found a fix for Quad-Views in VR of those that are still having issues w/ 2.9.6: Works easily!

Is increasing RAM from 32GB to 64GB a smart idea?
Ahdidaas replied to Ahdidaas's topic in Virtual Reality
Makes sense .. thanks y'all! Admittedly, DCS World in VR is so amazing, whatever it takes to get a beautiful looking scene to wreak havoc in is worth it, imho. Started Operation: Agile Spear again, cranked up the fidelity, etc.. Zero stuttering. I love it. -
Is increasing RAM from 32GB to 64GB a smart idea?
Ahdidaas replied to Ahdidaas's topic in Virtual Reality
I said I reset my pc to remove everything on it so I only have DCS related stuff. I know fully well how to tweak everything on my pc (nvidia settings, cores, priority, affinity, etc...). I simply wanted to get some advice on whether the value was worth it to upgrade. It seems above some folks are getting a bit heated? Let me put this at rest, I did the upgrade, I see my memory now going into the 50s on the Contention server last night. I was on a FARP, starting up my apache when someone dropped a cluster bomb next to it. It was pretty awesome being in the middle of all those explosions, and the performance was very good. If DCS is your jam, then you should do it. :case closed: -

Hi Irisz, Confirming -- you're suggesting I reduce my 80GB pagefile back down to default? (3gb or something like that)? -

Initial reaction to the ram increase is a very strong thumbs up. I'm getting 35+ fps on Contention, some stuttering when there was a lot going on, I'm very pleased. -

I've done the pagefile increase. Using process lasso would be something new I will try. I also pulled the trigger on the extra ram, cause, why not? -

Ty, I'll do some discovery. Curious -- how did you figure out it was your 8th core? (how many cores do you have 16? with 8 perf and 8 efficient?) -
Is increasing RAM from 32GB to 64GB a smart idea?
Ahdidaas replied to Ahdidaas's topic in Virtual Reality
Yes, my RAM was maxing out. my specs: i9 - 14 core 32GB DDR5 3080Ti Quest Pro -
I'm now getting frustrated in VR. What was once a smooth and happy experience is one that includes frequent micro-stuttering, and less frequent frame rate drops of 60-70% for a second or two. I've been trying to figure out what's changed in the last few months. I even reset my pc and reloaded just DCS to make sure I didn't have something malicious or other using my precious resources. Now, I'm thinking that its because my 32GB of RAM is maxing out? What y'all think? Has anyone gone from 32-64GB and been super pleased with the results (enough to justify the $200 to get it?). Ty!

You are correct! Ty!

Well, if the answer was to go to this google drive and download a bat file that contained the command-line string that will run the updater, then that's what I did. If there's another way, happy to hear it.

I don't understand how I can reinstall a campaign? Specifically: Operation Agile Spear. It says I have bought it online, I have a key for it, yet I have no idea how to actually download it. In DCS, I don't see it listed in the module manager under the list of Available DLC nor ones in the list of Installed. Running the dcs updater simply says my dcs world version is update to date. What do? Ty! null

Can I find what's causing me to get CPU bound?
Ahdidaas replied to Ahdidaas's topic in Virtual Reality
I disabled them in device manager. I'm using a usb-c hub for my keyboard+mouse+external cooling fan (gotta use all the other ports for my sim stuff!), it has two memory slots. ty! -

and i can confirm when the spikes stopped on these two disks, the cpu bound issues and stuttering stopped. -

Ahdidaas replied to Ahdidaas's topic in Virtual Reality
Ok, I got further, I notice that when I get cpu bound, these two removable usb drives spike; I have no external usb drive though, I'm not sure what these are infact...null they're listed as "norelsys 1081cs0 USB device". and are showing up as drives E: and F: -
Just saw this reply: You increate the pagefile size by viewing the "advanced system settings", select the settings for Performance, go to that dialog's Advanced tab, and set the size of the Virtual memory (aka paging file) I have mine set to 82MB. Also there's plenty of other discussions about pagefiles in this forum that can give you more info if you'd like.

Hi friends, A couple weeks a created a thread complaining that every 10-15 secs I'd get a 1/2s hang. In that thread, I ended up saying it resolved itself -- whatever was interfering decided to stop. Well I noticed it comes back, usually after I restart the pc. Would I be able to log what runs/takes cpu usage when I play DCS? When I alt-tab over to the task manager, I'm not really able to line up what I see with what's happening in VR since I can only look at one at the time. What have y'all done in the past to see what's interfering w/ your VR session so you can shut it down? Thanks!
