If you only use the headset for DCS (or sims), I would just disable Chaperone in the last tab of the Pimax Play settings. Roomscale will be fixed but I don't like the safety area anyway. I just recenter the HMD in-game. DMAS will be shipped asap. The information I initially received is that everyone should have already received it, but apparently that was not correct for 100% of the shipped orders. You'll also get the new ice silk foam + new face interface with stronger magnets.

Pretty sure orders now will ship within a few months. For DCS I would def recommend the Super because it has eyetracking and you can make great use of Quad Views.

I think the main thing is that there isn't the perfect panel (or headset) for VR. These panels are huge so we can get a huge FOV and great stereo overlap, with a great resolution and high brightness. Mura is one of the downsides. It's not as visible as e.g. the PSVR2 (On the MRTV channel it was said as 20% of that), but it's visible when looking at e.g. the sun. You could lower the brightness for it though.

I think we've found a good solution (as good as can be) given the situation. Full details here: https://pimax.com/blogs/blogs/pimaxs-measures-to-mitigate-the-impact-of-the-us-tariffs

Pimax Crystal Light. Sad day for plank owner Pimax user.
jaapgrolleman replied to Devil 505's topic in Pimax
Hey OP, the Crystal Light is just a different headset than the 8KX. The FOV is smaller but the clarity so much higher, thanks to the aspheric (rather than fresnel) lenses. Of course you already know this. Right now it's not possible with the current technology to create a headset that is both lightweight, has high-res, high refresh rate, and has ultra-wide FOV and ultra-high resolution. So choices still need to be made. Many people like the Crystal and Crystal Light for flight sims because the clarity allows you to read buttons and dials very clearly, and the lack of screendoor effect adds to the immersion. Of course it's all a balance and choice. Calvin already mentioned he'll check the status of your support ticket. The lens issue is definitely not as intended and odd as we have way stricter quality checks than before. I hope we can still keep you as a Pimax-fan, maybe if not for the Crystal Light, then for future headsets (who will have wider FOV and high clarity as technology progresses). Thank you for your write-out and support, going back to the original Kickstarter. -

Limited time: 15,000 ED Miles offer for DCS with the Crystal Light
jaapgrolleman replied to jaapgrolleman's topic in Pimax
Not a dumb question. You don't need controllers for DCS, but if you would want to occasionally try a game like a shooter like Half-Life: Alyx or something, then controllers are a necessity. But you can also always order them separately later. -

To use OpenXR runtime in Pimax Play (and Quad Views), please do not open PimaxXR and/or OpenXR Toolkit. More clarification on this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pimax/comments/1fr8z87/clarifications_on_pimax_openxr_quad_views_openxr/

Original post here. Pimax is happy to announce it has been developing its own solution for OpenXR runtime as well as Quadviews foveated rendering, coming to Pimax Play in the near future. The beta test for this is starting soon, with a release later this year. This is yet another step in our aim to provide the ultimate virtual reality experience with our VR headsets, such as the Pimax Crystal Light. What is the OpenXR Runtime? OpenXR is an open standard developed by the Khronos Group — a crucial piece of software that manges the communciation between your VR/AR hardware and the OpenXR API. Essentially, when you use OpenXR, this runtime acts as a translator, converting your application's requests into a format that your hardware can understand and process. In practical terms, the OpenXR runtime simplifies the management of multiple VR and AR devices. It allows applications to function seamlessly across different devices from various manufacturers, all while using the same codebase. Why Pimax Play integration Our decision to implement this feature comes with after user requests, as well as our wish to improve the Pimax Play experience. To have all software features integrated into Pimax Play greatly increases usability and adds to user convenience, without the need for having to download and install additional software. This new development also enables us to continue evolving the runtime. A shoutout to Mbucchia PimaxXR has been developed by Mbucchia, the visionary behind OpenXR Toolkit and PimaxXR, including the Quadviews features — which enormously improves performance in supported VR-games. Mbucchia's contributions have been instrumental in advancing the Pimax ecosystem, and we're proud to build upon his ideas and contributions with our own Pimax OpenXR runtime. Mbucchia has done more for VR than anyone could reasonably expect, and brought software that has powered VR headsets from users all around the world.

Not sure where those stories are coming from. Sometimes customers are stuck with customer care, then just give Calvin or me a nudge and we'll fix it. There isn't any problem we can't solve. Laubox's review of the Pimax Crystal Light

Pimax Crystal: Add a 'recenter' bind to keyboard like Brand X?

Don't you just put this keybind in the DCS settings? Recenter? Then that works for anything, a monitor and VR headset? -

Pimax Crystal Light - is no DFR a deal breaker for DCS?
jaapgrolleman replied to dsc106's topic in Virtual Reality
I think both the Crystal and Crystal Light are fine. The Crystal Light is lighter and easier to setup, and no battery. FFR takes maybe a day to get used to but then it's easy. Besides, lenses blur a bit at the edges anyway so some pixelation there is no problem. You just need to make the focus area bigger compared to DFR, so you lose some performance, but it's still good and a big bonus over no foveated rendering. -
Local dimming makes areas that should be black, really black, by turning off the backlight. The Crystal Light has 576 zones per panel, and you can set the level of dimming, as well as turn it off. The cheapest Crystal Light has no local dimming. You can only see this affect in the headset itself because it doesn't change the rendered visuals, only how the panel outputs it. My personal opinion: If you don't fly in the night or in the dark, you won't really need it. Here's a demo:

Hi Hawkeye, Totally understand it's confusing. To use the black USB cable on the USB hub or not is up to the user, we've seen that in some cases it works well, in some cases it introduces battery drain. This could also be because of the different PC configurations. There are several things you could try: Run the Crystal without any HUB, both cables into the PC Use the USB hub, only blue cable in Use the USB hub, both cables in There's also a mod that allows the Crystal to sort of have infinite battery life: https://pimax.com/best-pimax-crystal-mods/ The Crystal has a battery because it's a requirement for the XR2 chip, this also has a lot of benefits for normal PCVR usages: https://pimax.com/crystal-xr2/
