Hello all, I've been out of the loop for a couple of years and I've come back that things have changed a little! I have previously been using the stand alone versions of A10 and BS2. I could still run tham as they are I guess but what if I want to download the Huey? Should I download DCS world? Will my stand alone products integrate with them or do I need to download new versions of them? Any help greatly appreciated. CI

I have these brand new MFDs for sale. I've opened the packaging but found that they are simply too big to fit properly on my desk as things stand! So... They're on EBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251005975369 Best wishes :smilewink:

Yes Supersheep... If you were to read my post carefully, you would have seen that in fact I also said: "....Also, a open/close canopy command, just for demo purposes....." Cheers -
VAC profile and WIN keys for DCS: A-10c
Chief Instructor replied to kobac's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Mate, I only just noticed this thread... Anyway, I have the same issue, no recognition of Win keys. If you look at my profile attached, I have mapped the 'toggle snap views' to a single key (space) and I have a command to toggle snaps first, then se;ect each view individually. I'd rather have a single voice command though! -

Voice activated views and more...

Let me know if you need any help setting it up. It's fairly straight forward but some bits need a bit of fiddling! I can post my VAC profile if you like - it may give you a head start! -
Voice activated views and more...
Chief Instructor replied to Chief Instructor's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks Tyger! I've learned a lot from your excellent videos - thanks! Weasel, it's really easy to use the VAC for controlling the radio commands. I just haven't got around to setting them all up yet, though I have done a few! The VAC system uses the Microsoft Speech 5.1 technology which is embedded in Win 7 as the core recognition code. The VAC kind of sits on top and handles the mappings but it runs seamlessly in the background without the need for MS Speech to even be running. I am amazed at how well it recognises whole sentences, let alone individual words. It's quite amazing! :clap_2: -
I've been experimenting using the Voice Activated Commends (VAC) software to manage my views. The results have been fantastic! Where as I'm not interested in using VA for controlling cockpit functions because it's not realistic, It is very useful to control views and other sim functions by voice, negating the need to take your hands off the HOTAS! I'm finding it particularly useful for bringing up snap views and zooming in on the HUD for strafing runs  Combined with TIR5 and the TM HOTAS and Cougar panels, it has taken the sim to another dimension for me. I hate fumbling around with the keyboard to change views or zoom levels or whatever and this software solves the problem beautifully. With some fiddling it is also easy to map voice functions to the radio comms too. In fact, you can very easily make anything happen via voice. The recognition software has for me been 99% accurate in its recognition, even when I speak very fast and casually. I have done a very small demo video so you can see what I'm on about. I have set up a command to eject at the end which is useful. Also, a open/close canopy command, just for demo purposes. Anyway, you'll get the idea. Ignore the reckless flying... it's all about the voice! Sorry, I have no idea how to embed a video player here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILZ_4j3f1ps&feature=youtu.be The software is available here http://www.dwvac.com/index.html and has a 30 day trial, so you can try without cost. If you get hooked, I think it only costs $18 for registration. Bargain.

Thanks ever so much - I'll give them a try...

Hi Everyone, I have been pulling my hair out trying to set up some decent snap views and despite following all of the helpful posts on here to the letter, I still end up messing something up each time:book: Would a kind soul here who has managed it send me a copy of their SnapViews.lua file? I basically want a good L & R MFD, a good HUD zoom for staffing runs and a good close up CDU. I can set new views using my track iR then saving using RAlt KP0 etc, but I simply can't get the angles I want accurately enough like this. When I disable my TiR and set the view using the keyboard, I always end up screwing my default views up and having to restore my backup. It's not fun anymore :-( Thanks!

Hi, You just have to do it via the controls interface in the A10c GUI in the options section from the main menu. Strangely, my HOTAS slew control was not seen as an axis by default - rather a button, so I could not tune the axis at first. However, I found that if I deleted the assignment and re added it, it appeared as an axis. The saturation was by default at 100%. When I re-started the sim, the TGP and MAV slewing were so fast, I had to turn it down again! :)

Get a room you guys! Sounds like your wives are redundant. I could always manage a couple more though! :megalol:

Hi Ivo, The 32 bit icon is the one with '...x86' in the shortcut name. Luke

Ah, that explains a thing or two!

Hi, Is there a way of saving aircraft configuration changes and defaults? For example: Selections made in the HUD configuration, TAD preferences and adjustments made via the stats page on the mfcd and stuff like that? Presumably the 'real' aircraft can have these settings set as defaults? Thanks in advance! Luke

Mmmm... Lots of good looking stuff on that site! :-)

Hi, I have a question, or three questions in fact... Firstly, the flight manual states that the APU not only has its electrical generators but it also has a hydraulics pump. However, when the apu is running, (regardless of whether or not the APU electrical generator is engaged) the is no indication of hydraulic pressure in either of the two main systems. Is this correct and if so, is the APU Hyd system modelled? If it is, how do you utilise the Hyd output? Secondly, with a cold start and no systems active (not even battery turned on) the rudders and elevators still move in response to stick and pedal movements. Without any form of hydraulic power, is this possible or correct? I understand from the manual that the rudders will revert to direct cable actuation in the event of a complete actuator failure, so that could explain the rudder movement. But... There is no mention that I can see of a similar reversion for the elevators. I guess there may be a direct cable linkage to the control column, but it is not mentioned and it seems less likely to me. Does anyone know the answer, or is it simply a bug in the systems modelling? One last thing... Why am I able to fire my cannon on the ground even though the MFCD states that it is 'ground safe'? Is this another BETA issue? Whatever though, this has go to be the most trully accomplished flight simulator ever produced, even at this stage in the development. Certainly outside of the commercial simulator world. Best wishes to all! Luke

Bahger, I had EXACTLY the same problem as you. In addition, my trackIR5 refused to work aswell. HERE'S THE INTERESTING BIT: I installed clean from the complete BETA 3 dowenload, not a patched install. I am running Windows 7 64 bit home edition and it took me a while to realise that the install had placed 4 shortcuts on my desktop - 2 for single player and 2 for multi player. Our of the two single player shortcuts there is one which is just called DCS A10 Single player (or something similar) THIS IS THE ONE I WAS USING. However, I eventually noticed that there was another single player one called Single player_x86. I tried this one and presto... TrackIR worked as did the normal key based engine start up! :-) If you track the properties of the two single player shortcuts, they are starting two different .exe files, depending on which one you choose. Have a scan through your game install directories and find the .exe within a folder called x86 and try that one. I guess this has something to do wih a 64 bit install but I don;t know which way aound it is supposed to be! Anyway, it solved the startup, joystick and TIR problems for me! Maybe there is something funny going on during the install process... Good luck. P.S. I can't give you exact file and location names right now because I'm at work! Otherwise I would have. Luke

That's what my wife asked me when she wondered why I've been so excited recently! Seriously, I haven't enjoyed flight simming this much for years, and believe me, I've been doing it for years now! The BS and A10C titles are just simply outstanding. I have waited my entire 39 years for a decent hardcore technical simulation to be possible at home. I can safely say that using this software and steadily learning all about the systems and operations is as much fun as the last 15 years I've spent in real aviation! Many hours in real aircraft and simulators, my work chums are wondering why I still want to do it when I get home again!!! Now then, a nice TMWH from Santa would make for a very happy new year!!! :megalol: WIFE!!! Time for you to do some online shopping. God knows you've had enough practice!!! Best wishes to all of you!

Multi monitors are working...
Chief Instructor replied to Chief Instructor's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi there, The overall resolution spans the entire area of both screens. So, the Shkval and Abris between them take 640 width each to fill the entire second monitor on the right which is 1280 x 1024. The monitor on the left which is the main view is 1600 x 1200 and I am having no problem running each screen at different resolutions, even though I've read it's not possible! Cheers! -
However, just one small irritation! I'm using two screens - one for the main camera and the other for the Shkval and Abris. However, because the Abris and Shkval only occupy 3/4 of the secondary monitor in total area, the free space always keeps the remnants of the loder screen on it, or whatever was being displayed previously. Does anyone know how to clear this because it looks rather untidy. I am using Win7 with a dual head card in non-full screen. Thanks!

Hi all, I have searched on the topic but have not been able to find anything, though I bet I'm not the first to ask... I was just wondering if there is any way of Fast Forwarding through tracks and watching the playback a little more like a movie? Often, the good part is 30 odd minutes into the track and using the time multiplyer still takes a long time to get there. Also, being able to rewind would be nice! Sorry if this has already been answered but I've not been able to find it! Best wishes, Luke

Well thank you ShalashakaDS. I am new to this forum today so I have not been party to the dozens of times it has been said, despite having done a search on the forum.

I had the same question but when I open my mission editor and click to create a new mission, I only have the choice of Caucasus on the top left of the page!? I'm sure I just downloaded the beta 3 install too....! Can anyone help? Thanks :-)
