F-35A Announcement discussion mega thread.
Chinooklad replied to LimePartician's topic in DCS: F-35A
It's sarcasm. My initial point, as you can see earlier in the thread, was about how the sounds are going to be captured. Echo19 did indeed have a recording session of a running F35. The IFE's module uses the sounds recorded by Echo 19, which is an American company and has no ties to Russia, unlike ED. -

Oh sorry, I didn't know that Echo19 had ties to Russia. Oh wait..The hypocricy of comparing the degree of modeling in average MSFS module to what would have to be achieved in DCS is astounding. I'm not saying F35 can't be included in any other games, it certainly has over the years. The issues presents itself when the full fidelity standard is added into the mix, which is simply not possible. The sooner ED admits it, the better. -

They're risking it right now. It's funny to me that they respect the authorhity of Russian government on the matter but poking into the American stuff is fine apparently. -

Additionaly, as others have said, the statement you're making about 'Not sharing all that you have available' makes you appear extremely suspect. And that's putting it mildly. Do you have access to classified documentation pertaining the F35? Because that's a perfect way to end up with a visit from the FBI and other relevant counter-intelligence agencies. I thought Wags made it clear that ED will never go down that route. It's very silly to claim that you could make a module up to the apparent 'DCS Standard' without commiting a felony, at present time. Perhaps in 90 years, it would be a different conversation. -

Let's forget essentially all of the onboard systems, especially of the EW kind which you will never be able to model accurately or even remotely accurately, no matter what you try to make us believe...what about sound design? Are you telling us someone will let you near an F35 with a sound recording team? Can you just borrow an F35 from Yanks or one of the allies for a few days to record the engine sounds, onboard warnings etc? Or perhaps you'll be standing outside an airfield and hope that an F35 overflies you and record the sounds that way? The more you put your bizzare decision under some scrutiny, the less sense it makes in the context of the 'fidelity standard' you seemed to have preached about so much all these years. Can't make this, can't make that, but we will somehow make a full fidelity 5th gen aircraft...Sure.- 607 replies

Northern Israel / Southern Lebanon detail removed

Don't own this, but people should be given refunds ASAP. They've been robbed of what they purhcased with no prior warning. Dispute or not, that's unacceptable. -
So that's why it takes such a damn long time to load in? I was wondering if something was wrong with my SSD. Need to sit there for almost two minutes for the cockpit to fully load in, which is really bad. You can't tell me it's more detailed or complex than F4 and even that loads in for me in seconds!

Pretty terrible performance on my end too, especially when using M60s from the crew chief hathces. 7800xt

The sounds are lovely and the cockpit looks spot on. Looking forward to more videos!

It's not in this patch and I doubt we'll see it before August, unless they decide to push two updates this month. Either way, the delay is a good thing, it's obviously not ready yet. There's less than 8 seconds of its footage in the newest trailer.

Are there any third party developes that would be interested in making a paid campaign for the CH47? It's been everywhere and done everything. With Afghanistan soon available to us, you have 20 years of GWOT to work with. Yanks, Brits, Aussies, Dutch and a few others all have some interesting exploits that would make for an exciting campaign. RAF might be a good starting point, as we'll be getting Camp Bastion and the Chinooks there were kept very busy. Some detail on their busy days could be found in a book written by a CH47 loadmaster, Michael Fry, in his work titled "The Workhorse of Helmand" Amazon.com: The Workhorse of Helmand: A Chinook Crewman's Account of Operations in Afghanistan and Iraq: 9781399075510: Fry, Michael: Books

Considering that we'll be getting Camp Bastion in the Afghanistan map on day one, it's a missed opportunity to not include RAF liveries.

Has there been a shadow update to the Chinook features? Some features popped up since the earliest feature list reveal it seems, including 'base NVGs', as quoted on their store page for the CH47. Great if so, I'm happy that we'll be able to operate the CH47 in all enviornments 24/7 since day one. Note for ED, I'd also be careful calling proper crew chiefs door gunners, they take offense to that from what I've heard null Some clarification is needed whether we are getting proper crew chiefs or even an FE on release or just a field cook who got picked up for door guning duty. You mention correctly that CH47 is a crew operated aircraft. Crew in the back is not just for show, they are there because they are needed at practically all stages of flight, as was intended by the designers of the aircraft. Without functioning crew with proper calls, slingloading will be very challenging or nigh impossible and other routine operations will be more complicated. Chinook's dimensions are a consideration that properly voiced and developed crew will offset, by telling you whether you are cleared of obstacles, how close you are to the ground and so forth.

I just quoted you proof of record (That's without mentioning the same deal for Huey, Supercarrier, ATC, Ground AI, Missing features from F18, F16 and so forth), yet It's a doom speech? Truly, I'm the herald of apocalypse, calling upon ED to not crunch their dev team with impossible timelines and to take their time as opposed to releasing a barebone module. Shame on me. This will be a great module no doubt, but they need to take their time with it. Not to push it out barely ready and forgetting about it for years on end. Don't shoot yourself in the foot and do it properly instead.

You should really put an asteriks to year*. Don't kid yoruself, CH47 will go waaaaay down in the feature cue as ED inveitably moves onto the next, much hotter and less nieche module. It is in interest of every CH47 customer to demand more features from day one, because I assure you, we'll be waiting a very, very long time for them. MI8 multicrew, a feature promised at the end of open beta and 'full release' only took them 10 years to deliver while they moved on to completely different things. You're joking if you think we'll get all of those features within the next 5 years, unless they put in the effort now and deliver more of them before day one release.
