  1. For me this problem seemed to be gone with 1.12 but reintroduced with 1.12a. Very strange, no changes in graphics driver or settings or whatever (nVidia 7800 GTX 512 with 81.12). My workaround: Launch LockOn, quit LockOn without flying, launch LockOn again. Don't ask me why, but most of the time this works with overcast and any bad weather conditions.
  2. Do a search on ebay with "Fliegerjacke" or "Pilotenjacke". Just did a quick search and found 408 items, including at least one like yours on the first page. Maybe you should also include the search word "leather", because there seem to be a lot of them made of polyamid instead of leather
  3. Great news for me, this delay. I'm not expecting to find any free time before christmas, so BS will come right in time for me ;) And let's hope ED will implement some "minor" features like speedtree during the next half year, so we will get that "perfect" release from the beginning that we all are hoping for.
  4. Maybe you have a FireWall running in the background that is asking for permission to connect LockOn to the internet?
  5. With 1.11 I experienced a problem with bad weather. Whenever I set overcast, thunderstorms, big clouds, fog or something (still don't know what exactly was the reason) LO would crash for me. Workaround was to start LO, quit immediately after the main menu appeared and start it agin. Forget the workaround:p . It seems they fixed that bug. At least for my last few testing flights I could start LO, select any bad weather mission and...FLY...without any crashes:icon_supe . @ED: if that is one of the major bugs you eliminished, then you'd better put that in the 1.12 Readme than the new joystick conf possibility that still doesn't work the way everybody hoped and expected:icon_toil
  6. No guys, don't expect too much from that. This '896256' is a magic number in many forums. And you might really be pissed, that MicrosShit wants you to phone them to get this hotfix (claim by MS: this affects only very vew users, so it's just a hotfix, not an update, real fix or whatever and hence the very vew have to contact them personally). Well, if you want it: Google! Google is your friend (at least that's what somebody in this forum told me some days ago);) Be sure, you will find that hotfix for different languages somewhere. But at least for me it didn't do nothing. Installed it on my game partition and couldn't see any improvement. Did the same on my apps partition and experienced the same: nothing. Well, nevertheless, try it out. Maybe for your system or config it's the holy grail. I left it on my apps drive, who knows, which proggi might someday take advantage of it; and I've got Cool'n'Quiet driver installed there. But for my games partition without C'n'Q drivers I called 'DriveImage Restore' to get it clean again.
  7. Got exactly the same picture like in the 2nd post yesterday evening:( . Killed everything that seemed to be around in the F15 quick start mission and still saw the 25. Flew around to find it, but nothing to find (well, didn't think of using F10). Searched until fuel was out (just for fun), bailed out, and with another press on F2 I suddenly saw a 25 just taxiing from the runway.
  8. Maybe it's only my problem, maybe you see it too? I cleared all commands from the X-52 in LO's controller options, because I assign the buttons via Saitek's controller software. When I switch to the 'test'-button in the config and move the stick, the graphics respond as they should. But when I press a button, nothing happens. I had the same config (every assignment deleted) with 1.11 and I could swear (although not absolutely shure) that in 1.11, when I pressed a joystick button, this one would light up in LO's test screen. Doesn't bother me personally, 'cause, as I said, I use Saitek's software. But it would sure be bad for those guys who assign the X-52 buttons via LO. So, anybody else experienced this? Or is it only because I cleared all the assignments? Or am I just growing old and think I've seen things in 1.11 that never existed;) ? But, by the way: I'm rather disappointed with that new joystick feature. Man, when I started 1.12 up the first time I was rather pissed. It reverted automatically from 1280x1024 to 800x600 or so, many of my assignments like dist vis were changed, while some others were still there. And the controller assignments were there again. Ok me thinks, delete them, copy them to second profile for a linear SU25 AFM joy - and find out that there is no joy, at least with this point:(. Meanwhile the devs cleared out that this feature will only be implemented with 1.2, but hell: who needs the possibility to have two sticks of the same kind installed at the same time? Would it have been so much more difficult to have programmed two separate profiles for ONE AND THE SAME stick instead , one for normal FM, one for AFM? One guy from this forum already did a separate little proggi for that, and he claims, he doesn't know too much about programming. So, why can't ED when he can? Don't wanna rant, but I'm still a bit disappointed, 'cause this would have been a real improvement if you like to fly the SU-25 AFM as well as the other birds.
  9. How many of us are sitting in front of their monitors now, desperately hitting 'refresh...refresh...refresh' - and hoping the server will not break down once the 'Download' button appears;)
  10. Yeah, I second that! I renamed the movie to '_Maximum G', so it shows up at the top of my LO movies. Really one of my favourites.
  11. That's exactly one of the links I found this afternoon, but that don't really help:( This guy says you have to reinstall windows, and at the same time he quotes other people who say you don't have to. Furthermore he says you have to install the X2 driver: No, you don't have to! I have two partitions with separate windows-versions, one for my apps and one for games only. In the BIOS I have enabled C'n'Q. Well, on my apps partition I have installed the X2 drivers, on my games partition I have not. Tried this afternoon and installed them on the games partition, too. Guess what: CPU performance even went DOWN in the benchmarks. Restored the drive immediately and won't touch it anymore with any drivers or so. But it's strange anyway:confused: Still I'm curious what a reinstall would do. Maybe if I get too much time one day, I will do a fresh install of windows on that game drive and try myself - thanks to DriveImage I will have todays state in 20 minutes if it doesn't work out well. But this day with too much time is faaar away;)
  12. In Device-Manager (? don't know what it's called in English, the one where you can see your hardware) everything is ok, 2 CPUs showing up. Under 'Computer' it also tells me I've got an ACPI Multiprocessor CPU. Taskmanager also shows two history blocks with different graphs of CPU load, as well as does the AMD-dashboard-software. Furthermore, of course, after installing the CPU windows found new hardware at the first startup (but I still wonder why I didn't have to reactivate windows, I would have expected changing the CPU such a great hardware change that I would have had to). So, I guess everything works just fine:)
  13. Just phoned with the tech service from AMD. Two people over there told me the same: it should not be necessary to reinstall windows, unless you encounter any problems; that' a clear statement again  You can google yourself to death, search in MS support data base, in AMD forums or wherever you want. You will not find a single place, where someone definitely says: Yes, if you change from single-core to dual-core: do a clean install, otherwise this or that will not run or you can't run on true dualcore or whatever...or no, if you have the latest drivers installed reinstalling windows wouldn't bring more out of the machine.:( If by chance anybody has a trustworthy source dealing with that, please post links here. Until then I for myself will leave my machine as it is and do no reinstall, just hoping, that I don't spoil any resources or power with that.
  14. Arrrgg...no...don't tell me such things. Just went from singlecore to dualcore and I really hope you're wrong. It took me more than 4 weeks lately to reinstall my whole system for the singlecore, don't want to do that again. Are you really sure that a reinstall is necessary? Scotsman, what's that HAL you're talking about good for? What would my machine do wrong if I didn't reinstall? Surely that's not the reason why I get no 8000 3DMarks!?!!?
  15. Just tried it and it works. Maybe have a look into your options menu and see if the right key combination is assigned. Or maybe you are looking at the wrong 'sensors'? It works with the target designators for SU-25 or A-10 e.g. If that are the sensors you mean and CTRL-I doesn't work although it's assigned in the options...well, then sorry, no clue what might be wrong.
  16. Yeah, reading that again is really frustrating:( Will have a look at nVidia panel, but I didn't change anything there except a special profile for LockOn with max AA and AF; but that should only apply when LO is loaded. VSync should be off usually and AA and AF set to application, but maybe that's a clue...will see. SLI board: yes. SLI cards: no:( Maybe someday when prices for the 7800 GTX512 drop to 200 EUR (well, probably in 6 to 8 months;) ) and I can save some money till then I might upgrade. But in the moment I dont't see the slightest need for a second card...except 3DMark benches around 8000-9000. yeah, link would be appreciated. Saves me some time to search myself. Shit, didn't I say over and out? Man, you just got me into it again;) And I've got no time for that. Just received that 'Ruggbutt toy' Ergodex DX1 and am hot like teacher to try that thing:horseback
  17. WTF:mad: Just did a new test again. This time I disabled Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS and also put the clock rate back to auto, which means the CPU running at 2600. No way! Tested 3DMark2006 and PCMark2005 again. Results are what I expected: In 3DMark2006 the scores for SM2.0 and 3.0 stay the same, while CPU score goes down a bit and hence the overall performance. With PCMark2005 I chose the standard settings with additional CPU and Memory tests. Memory dropped from about 4750 to 4550, while CPU stayed around 5337 (5338 on 2700:confused: ) So, I guess something is really odd, but I don't think it's on my side. The tests showed, that it doesn't seem to cost any performance to set the multiplier to xx.5 values or to have C'n'Q enabled. Furthermore, have a look at some article on guru3d: http://www.guru3d.com/article/article/313/7/ They are testing with a FX-57 and different graphics cards. Look at the last benches, FX-57 with 7800 GTX 512; comparable to mine, but I beat it in any category: score 5437 (4787) SM 2.0 2253 (2176) SM 3.0 2266 (2220) CPU 1795 (1107) And look at the comparison between the 6800 GT and the same in SLI. You can see that the CPU score doesn't change there, but the overall score does dramatically because of the shader models. Which brings me to two conclusions: 1) Guess there's nothing wrong with my rig or setup 2) Don't waste no more time on those fu**ing benchmark programs, 'cause they don't say nothing. Scotsman, do you get 150% of my performance in games and applications? Don't really think so. And me as well sure don't have double the FPS in LockOn e.g. than people with half the score would gain. So, what are all these benchmarks good for? Nothing!! A guy with a single core 4000+ and two 7800 GTX in SLI might me much happier than me with a game that makes extensive use of SM2.0 or 3.0, whereas I would score if GPU would be important, but CPU power also (especially with games/apps that use dualcore). Ok, I stop wasting time on those useless benchmarking, better use it for some useful things like flying or :icon_jook . Over and out;)
  18. Whooo...will have a look into it tonight. Might it really be the 13.5 multiplier? But what confuses me: it would make sense if the memory score would be low then, but that one is ok, it's only the CPU-score that's strange. Anyway, will try it. And Cool'n'Quiet: it's activated in the BIOS, but there are no drivers installed on my gaming partition, so it shouldn't run. Taskmanager as well as benchmark programs tell me it's running at 2700, so I guess it does. On my application partition I have the drivers installed and get of course different CPU speeds in taskmanager etc because of C'n'Q running.
  19. Hi Scotsman, nice to see you got your 'good one' back-hope it runs without problems now. Just ran the bench again at stock settings (last time I selected all tests). My results: score 5437 SM 2 2253 SM 3 2266 CPU 1795 Same result as last time with all the tests selected. So, what are the other tests for if they seem to do nothing? Well, I really don't know if this 3DMark2006 is trustworthy. Of course, with two 7800 GTX 256 in SLI you should get better graphics scores and hence overall scores than with one 7800 GTX 512. But what makes me wonder is the CPU score. If you get 1797 with a 4800+ @ 2400, shouldn't an FX-60 @ 2700 score more than 1795? Can't really understand that. And the CPU test itself is pain in the a**, I also get a 0 FPS slideshow. What monster CPU out of hell did they invent that test for? Would like to run the test on the notebook I've got from work - but I'm afraid that rendering 1 frame would either take half an hour or even the whole thing would go off in flames;)
  20. Short test on tracks 2 and 3. As Fudd said: Hard to watch, FPS are jumping a lot, especially in track 3. Track 2: most of the time in the high 30's. When flying very low over the vehicles it's going down to about 23-28. Strange: in one outside view of a turn it drops to 21 for a second or two without any reason. Track 3: Very strange. Starts at about 28 in cockpit for the first few seconds, until you change the HUD color. At the moment the red color comes up FPS drop to 18/19 and stay there:confused: . Maybe there's something rendered far away at that moment that we can't see yet ? I guess so, would be odd if a red HUD instead of the standard green would cost ya 10 FPS. Looking sideways out of the cockpit I gain high 50's to low 60's. Then while zooming and flying towards the runway FPS drop rather constantly to 17/18, then to 14/15 with 12 being the lowest for a second just before the first bomb release. Strange again: The moment the weapon is released and you hear the explosion, it jumps to high 50's-60's with top of 80's. From then on something between high 20's to mid 30's for most time, dropping shortly to about 19 shortly before the next weapon release (if I remember the last correctly, only ran the tracks once and tried to write down some hopefully important points while watching). @Fudd: Seems we get about equal FPS. Are you also using highest settings for AA and AF? And which drivers do you use? I've got the stock XFX 81.89
  21. Yep, same with me. Tried a multi of 13.5 with everything else untouched and it seems up to now it's running stable at 2700. That would be a nice compromise, havin a 'FX-56' ;) - or better say: two of them:D
  22. Thanks for all your replies. Well, why that expensice uber-chip? Simply because this was my last chance for years to get a good rig. In summer I will be Daddy and my wife stops to work; no great chances then to save money for computers. That's why I wanted the best now. Regarding the cooling: I have got a Zalman copper cooler, works great, temperatures went up into the thirties, not more. So that's not the problem. Regarding the resolution: I have a 19" flatscreen, so I'm limited to 1280x1024. But that's ok, I wouldn't need more. And the GTX can use its power for running full AA and AF:rolleyes: . Well, and finally: Scotsman is right. Why trying to overclock? Ok, would have been nice to get another 200 MHz if it would run stable, but this afternoon after 20 minutes of COD2 the game freezed again. Don't know why, but I won't waste time to investigate. Put back to the stock clock of 2600 and everything works fine again. So I'll leave this settings. The FX-60 at stock settings has enough power, anyway.
  23. Haven't done intense testing up to now, because I had problems while overclocking yesterday evening. Spoiled my rig so much that the machine wouldn't boot up at all, not even the POST screen. Had to clear the CMOS and reconfigure the BIOS. Well, have it running at 2800 at the moment and seems to work - most things at least. Just fired up all my games shortly, and they seem to work, although Call Of Duty had a problem at first, even crashed to a BSOD. Funny, after restarting it seems to work, too. But it's strange, PC Mark05 crashes completely to BSOD, and 3DMark06 hangs during the CPU test. Anyway, if I encounter more problems I will revert to 2600, that should also be enough;) . Found another strange thing with LockOn: Going from 2600 to 2800 should give a performance boost of around 10%. Tested again with MIG29 intercept track. Very strange, you really get the 10% plus when on or near the ground in external views, but in cockpit not 1 single FPS more. And the same thing when you are over the clouds, regardless of being in cockpit or external view. What confuses me is that you don't seem to get more FPS in cockpit on the ground. The ground objects seem to be more CPU related than GPU, but they have to be rendered anyway, whether in cockpit or in external view:confused: But, back to your question: NOOO, I guess I would never go back. Many progs seem to use one processor kernel only, but I'm sure in the near future many of the upcoming ones will use dualcore. And even now many things have a noticeable performance increase. Had to turn about 50 photos in ACDSee yesterday from portrait to landscape, each about 3MB - man, that was fun watching the status bar run:icon_supe .
