  1. Yes, of course many factors come into play. The WIP EFM might have too much thrust. I'm just pointing out that watching the video alone isn't really enough to be certain. You are right. My mistake.
  2. The Mirage 2000C has roughly a 1.3 Thrust to Weight ratio on empty. The Mirage 2000 had been flying around on burner for a while at that point in the video, so you can't really make any judgement there without knowing how much fuel was in the tanks. (We don't even know if they have fuel implemented in the EFM yet, or if that gauge is working in the cockpit)
  3. I just watched the times on the video. The real life one only took 2 seconds longer, not 4. It is also carrying two additional missiles, so it is not the exact same setup. Besides, time to take off will depend on the weather.
  4. The old KSP thread seems to have disappeared while I wasn't looking, so here is a news only thread that is hopefully allowed to stick around. The latest official news is that KSP Version 1.0.5 was released on November 9th. Read about it here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/content/358-KSP-1-0-5-is-live%21 Anyone interested in discussing KSP is encouraged to do it on their official forums at the following link instead of here on the DCS forums: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/
  5. I voted UH-60, but an HH-60 variant might be more fun. Who else wants a dedicated search and rescue helicopter for DCS?
  6. I was under the impression that the A and B would be released simultaneously, or at least as part of a single package. Is there a post somewhere that suggests otherwise? Either way, I only really plan on flying the B, so I will skip the A if they are sold separately.

    DCS: F-5E!

If you check both the new model currently in game and the wireframe posted on Belsimtek's site, they have seven stations. http://www.belsimtek.com/news/1553/

    DCS: F-5E!

I'm pretty sure the "five hardpoints" in that description was only counting the fuselage and underwing pylons. There are two wingtip rails on top of that for a total of 7 stations. There was actually a thread opened about that recently. Hopefully the Razbam Mirage will supplement the 2000-5 instead of replacing it. You can find the topic here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=152208

    DCS: F-5E!

Can the radar also be used to automatically slew the AIM-9 seeker head towards the target?
  10. Yes, I had the same interpretation of the OP, and I did mean an update for the AI only exterior 3D model. (however, I would not argue against a playable one too). Maybe, but it would seem like a waste of time to start from scratch when a significant portion of what is needed for a new AI exterior 3D model is already done.
  11. I would like to see the French DCS inventory expanded, so I certainly hope the 2000C does not replace the 2000-5 since they have different capabilities, but the 2000-5 will show it's age a lot more when sitting next to our beautiful new 2000C. I agree, the 2000C model would be a good starting point to update the 2000-5.

    New map

This I understand. There is a lot of big stuff coming up in DCS. Hopefully at some point in the future if their plate is a little cleaner and 2.0 and EDGE are more mature the decision will be revisited.
  13. This is excellent news.
  14. Nevada will likely be an order of magnitude larger. It will also probably require a separate install rather than an auto-update. Besides, Nevada is supposed to run on 2.0, not 1.5.1.
  15. Seems like a sensible choice given some of the commonalities, but I figure the F-14 will probably be the first multicrew release from Leatherneck, and the other two are planned to come out this year.
  16. They might be a little loose with the version numbering for 1.5 since 2.0 is planned to be available by the end of this month.

  18. I wonder if they are using this Ordtech HDD upgrade. Details are scarce on that page but it could apparently even include a moving map. http://www.ordtech-industries.com/2products/Mirage/Mirage_2000/M2000_Avionics/M2000_HDD_Upgrade.html
  19. Q: Will the player be able to bail out of the helicopter and walk around? (To escape after a crash landing)
  20. The Mirage SFM might be more accurate than other SFM releases, but it is not more advanced. All SFMs run the exact same flight model code with different values in the input file. (any further discussion on flight model should be moved to its own thread though to avoid cluttering this one.)
  21. Also, thanks for the checklist (I can't remember if this has been posted elsewhere before). I have far too many other commitments outside of DCS right now, but I'll keep this in mind in case that changes in the future.
  22. A Vietnam theater could also be used for French Indochina war missions. Both the Corsair (hinted at by Leatherneck) and the Bearcat (in development by VEAO) were used in that war. I think the idea is that we are more in the ballpark (at least near the ballpark) with MiG-21bis vs. F-5E than we are with Su-27 vs. F-15C (not even the same city as the ballpark). The UH-1H in DCS is actually a post Vietnam model too.
  23. I have 7 extra CPU cores sitting around doing almost nothing. Those could do the ground/deck crew AI no problem. I don't think having these units perfectly synchronized is that important. They don't need to cause collisions with vehicles, and AI combat units should not try to target them. There shouldn't be a problem loading them in a bubble near the player only. Just make AI follow the same rules with or without the ground crew present and everything should be fine. This would allow everything to be done on the local machine only and not increase multiplayer network traffic. As an extra bonus, if it is done similar to the way I describe, ground crew could be reduced or turned off as a graphics option for people with low performance computers without desynchronizing the game. This should be a new feature optimized for its purpose, not just a bunch of infantry soldier AI dressed in ground crew gear following complicated scripts.
  24. What makes you think they won't announce it the same day as release? Anyone remember Black Shark 2? I would be willing to bet the World War 2 plane is the F4U Corsair. The Corsair also served in Korea, so it could give the MiG-15 another target to shoot at. The British used the Corsair in Europe, so it isn't completely out of place mixed in with the current World War 2 modules either.

    New map

I agree that is (I assume) the reason they are doing it this way. It's (most likely) the same reason the open EFM API is missing several essential features. Back when RRG announced their plan to release the tools to kickstarter backers, they said the version of the tools released would exclude the ability to export maps to DCS. This is certainly still a good solution to the problem, and I would argue better than the current situation, but creating and maintaining a second version of the map development kit with special restrictions would cost ED money. They probably don't think there is enough benefit for the cost... and that's (probably) why we are stuck here.
