No, I meant texture. Looks like texture is broken. Compared to real world picture. Or I am missing something?

One strange notice to Eagle Dynamics. What is this black strip of cockpit back side ? Sending you same picture from real life one to see difference.
-
For gaming reasons it's even worse. But I agree, we are off topic and we should stop.

Thanks for pointing out wrong name, which can only add to suspicion on not enough research when Magnitude decided to use it. Yak-38, MiG-23, MiG-27, MiG-21PFMs and Sukhoi family aircrafts operated kh-23/kh-66 (Zvezda). But not MiG-21Bis, as radar RP-22 is based on fixed beam instead of continues wave (CW). Maybe Yugoslavia upgraded Bis on their own. But I didn't see Grom listed in Yugoslav air force manual for L-17 (Mig-21bis).
-
This is something to add on my "to do list" when mig-29a is released.

In DCS ? I agree. But in DCS you can only hit grounded air units, while the seeker does not react to rest, as it should in RL. Hopefully it will be simulated in the future. I tried with AIM9 and nothing.
-
I thought it could not. Can't remember where i read, but was mentioned that mig-21bis can't guide Grom missile. Can exact version of mig-21 that is in DCS guide it ? Thanks. Correction to my statement. What I learned so far is that fixed beam of RP-22 (Bis variant radar we have in DCS) is not compatible with Grom missile. While RP-21 could, theoretically, guide it. In DCS it was added due to gaming ! I also could not find Grom missile being used in Yugoslavian MiG-21Bis. VTUP from year 1980. Anything is possible with experimental and tested modifications, but serial product of bis that we have could not use it.

Nope, I was wrong to trust sites over manuals. Sorry. It is how you said. Only thing not mentioned is not just pilot manually returnig jfs start switch to off will stop jfs and deplete reservoirs. Misfire probability is still a thing which ground crew needs to be prepared for. Now only things that remains not simulated fully is START 1. START 1 could be simulated in a way to have probability to "misfire" which also results in one depleted bottle. Second start 1 attempt with last remaining bottle and if fails again, you're done. Ground crew JFS refill is needed then. Misfire usually has higher probability in hot temperature, higher MSL altitudes, JFS bottles condition (pressure). START 2 already has high start probability in RL and should remain as is. Thank you. Best regards.

No chance. Grom missile is not correct for MiG-21Bis either. No MiG-21 radar could guide that missile, as well as MiG-29. Their role is intercept, nothing to do with precision strike. Only conventional "dumb" ordinance.

Hello, dear ED team. I wanted to point out small but annoying irregularity considering JFS startup. In real life, JFS starter turbine is cranking using 2 compressed gas reservoirs. As you know, start 1 for one "bottle" and start 2 for both at the same time. Problem is that in real life JFS reservoirs are exhausted a bit less than 2 minutes (can't remember where I've seen this info on their duration) after START switch is set to 2 (or 1), while in DCS they are infinite and will never exhaust. With this, timing is crucial when bringing engine to life. Right after SEC light dissapears and RPM hits ~20%, handle is immediately placed to idle position in order to finish engine start up before reservoirs (or one reservoir) are depleted. Refilling those reservoirs is not an easy task ! Right now we don't have to pay attention to this and can idle engine whenever we like, which is wrong. Can this be simulated in the future ? Where: 1.) JFS is actually timed about 2 minutes and if throttle is not placed in idle position in this time frame (too late), JFS stops, JFS indication light goes out, engine cannot be started and we need to request ground crew option to repair aircraft or add additional Ground crew menu option for "JFS reservoirs refill". 2.) If we attempt to set throttle to idle too early, before SEC light is off and RPM is less then ~20%, it should be simulated as hot start - there’s not enough airflow to keep the engine cool. FTIT should indicate hot start where engine start up should be aborted to prevent possible damage (maybe this is already simulated, I forgot to test it). https://theaviationgeekclub.com/starting-the-engine-on-an-f-16-viper-is-different-from-most-other-jet-aircraft-heres-why/amp/ Thank you for your time. Best regards.

I hope Eagle Dynamics can clarify where they found evidence in the first place. Don't trust source from wartime mig-29 in 1999. As those were not maintained, nor updated as they were supposed to be in 1996 !

Sniper Pod - lack of focus makes it nearly unusable at night
Dača replied to Posohm's topic in Bugs and Problems
I've attached my images to show noticable difference with my settings and Posohm's current settings. In his picture you cannot see anything, but mine is much better and you can even see IR "dots". I did mention that DCS sniper pod is a bit blurry than RL one, didn't I ? You can look it up above. I was able to use TGP without much problem. With TV mode during the day you can recognize anything. No problems there But with infra red modes, it is blurry. Hard to be sure what type of the tank it is, but I can see it is a tank (but not very far away). Just... a blurry tank. And use XR processing. It exists for a reason ! -
Actually it is quite normal. Pilots rarely use mirrors in flight. Only used in leading formations or BFM. Then again it all comes down to preference and needs depending on the situation. And if sun is behind, it can blind pilot in certain angles.

It looks pretty OK on my side. See pictures. Did you use brightness and contrast buttons to improve picture? -

I did not have such bad image when I was playing with Sniper pod. I'll try again.
