  1. Hey I’d buy the Phantom. My only point is that while there’s a lot of passion for it among enthusiasts I don’t think it has much appeal for a more casual audience. It’s not a Viper or Hornet blockbuster. I don’t know if that’s why ED shelved it or not, just a general impression I have. I’m hoping its a modern Russian fighter. This literallly has to get done to keep the game healthy. And if I had my personal pick I’d want ED to branch out into the logistics and special ops roles. C-130 would make me giddy. CH-47, Mi-26, M/AH-6 also.
  2. Honestly this topic poses an unexpectedly tough question. Two years ago you could easily get a consensus for the Viper and the Tomcat. Running through the previous 11 pages of posts there really isn’t much agreement anymore on what an “eagerly anticipated” aircraft could be. Yes, everyone, including myself, wants a full fidelity modern Russian fighter, any full fidelity modern Russian fighter, and this is a problem that ED absolutely needs to solve. The F-4 also repeatedly comes up, but I’ve always suspected the obsession with the Phantom is limited to a vocal minority here on the forums and the aircraft has limited broader appeal. The F-15C would’ve made sense if RAZBAM weren’t developing their own variant. As others have mentioned it would be a slap in the face to RAZ for ED to announce their own F-15 so quickly. Personally I know I wouldn’t buy both. So yeah, the front runners all have strong arguments against them. ED aren’t allowed to/can’t get a license (Red Air), have repeatedly said its on permanent hiatus (Phantom), or there’s already a 3rd party variant in development (Eagle). That just leaves a scattershot of minor European aircraft and random rotorcraft, a couple of which have already been confirmed as in development. A tough question indeed.
  3. Great. Now the Tomcat armchair simmers want those [uNREALISTIC] click clack sounds added to the Hornet even though the F-14’s own SME’s say it’s unrealistic. This is supposed to be a simulator, not a wishulator. If you want arcade sounds (which is exactly what you’re asking for, btw) hopefully MAC will be more your style when it’s released.
  4. Correct, core RPM would not increase with AB. I was saying the RPM doesn’t decrease as much as expected when throttles are pulled back. It seems most flight regimes are at 98-100% engine RPM, regardless of throttle position or thrust output. I’m not too worried about it though, if we don’t have the correct tapes yet I’ll wait to do any serious observations. That explains it, maybe I missed that in the manual. The Hornet does show total FF though, including AB.
  5. That’s more or less what’s being described. If “U” engages the shuttle to the aircraft - steam from the rail, JBD’s rise - and the salute doesn’t cause a launch, then that’s a bug. Ok, so you don’t have the bug is what you’re saying.
  6. By what metric? Because if you’re judging the sounds on accurately representing what it’s like to sit in a Tomcat cockpit then it’s already been established by real world F-14 pilots that the current sounds don’t meet that metric. HEatblur has even said that wasn’t their goal unfortunately. What you’re actually saying is that you like the sounds more. Good for you.
  7. Has anyone on the team found this bug or been able to reproduce?
  8. Whoa, final?! I thought sounds have greatest need for improvement. It all sounds like wip or very amateur as it is now, inside cockpit and outside. Please rethink the final status or at least make the fixes that’ll allow mods to be created re: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3857775&postcount=36
  9. Are the engine tapes we have now the correct ones yet? The HB manual still identifies them as TF-30 indicators and the correct F110 indicators are coming later.
  10. It’s in HB’s own manual also. I was actually investigating the engines yesterday and noticed Secondary Mode doesn’t appear to be implemented, among other odd behaviors. I never worked on the F-14, but I have a lot of engine run experience with F-110’s, in test cell and on the F-16. The cockpit engine tapes in the 14 don’t react how I’d expect at all to throttle movements. The RPM tape stays at 100% through a wide range of throttle positions, FF barely rises with AB, and so on. The 14 and 16 could be rigged and scheduled totally different though so who knows. (Aside, did ED ever properly model T5 Override on their TF-34’s? It hadn’t been by the time I stopped playing.)
  11. I’m also experiencing this. I go step by step through the carrier tutorial without a problem, but in any other mission on a carrier my plane won’t launch. Salute all day, plane won’t launch.
  12. The problem is the constant hinting at much sooner dates within that range, starting with freaking Xmas continuing up to these last few days. Promising too an actual firm date soon soon soon for many weeks. Seriously should we not be asking wtf?
  13. Sorry was anything actually announced in this update or is this another update saying they’ll announce stuff in a future update? Wags is already walking back the “EA in 2019” YouTube statements. It’s gonna be awhile.
  14. NO THIS WILL HOPEFULLY NEVER HAPPEN IF CONSOLE PORTS ARE SOMETHING YOU’D LIKE TO SEE YOU PROBABLY MISUNDERSTAND THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF DCS.
  15. :noexpression: I...wasn’t expecting what happened with the remote... ...and I still don’t understand it. Regarding F-14 release, based on the videos we’ve seen so far I expect March 20th. Placeholder sounds, rear cockpit can’t even be shown yet, bugged cat launches. It looks great and I’m team take-all-the-time-you-need, but she’s obviously not ready yet.
