  1. http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=24&art_id=nw20100320141212989C560893 Seems like this could be a good setting for a hypothetical civil war scenario too now.
  2. MiG-31 and F-14, since we already have the Su-27 and F-15 :)
  3. Laptop 1 Processor ( Intel® Core 2 Duo Mobile T9600 Dual-Core Processor (2x 2.80GHz/6MB Cache/1066FSB) ) Memory ( 4GB [2GB x 2] 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM [Notebook Memory] - Corsair or Major Brand ) Video Card ( Mobility DDR3 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4650 PCI-Express 3D Video [CZ-10 Ultra] ) Primary Hard Drive ( 320 GB 5400rpm Serial-ATA Super Slim Notebook Hard Drive ) Laptop 2 • Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53 GHz, 1066MHz, 3MB L2 Cache) • 4096MB 1066MHz DDR3 Dual Channel (2-2048 modules) • 500GB 5400 RPM hard drive • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M (1GB DDR3 and Intel PM45 Express Chipset. Not underclocked like Asus does.)
  4. True, weren't some of the best pilots of the Iran-Iraq war MiG-21 pilots? They even managed to shoot down F-14s lol The MiG-21 is truly legendary.
  5. Hey man that's TMI lol
  6. Looks nice, but are these using the F-15C avionics still? When is ED releasing the tools to create new avionics and flight models?
  7. Most of those are 3rd generation aircraft, so I don't know if they'd be any fun going up against the badass 4th generation F-15C's  I think the Su-24, F-14, and Mirage would be fun though.
  8. So right now we can model: F-16A F-16C F/A-18A Early Mirages With some Mirages and F-16s modeled we can create other theaters such as the UAE, India, and Taiwan. Also with the F/A-18A we could model the Austrailian Air Force and fly against Indonesian Su-27s and F-16A's, a good setup for an East Timor map :) More planes + More maps!
  9. How about the Mirage 2000 instead of the F-16 or F/A-18? It would be a nice change of pace from US/Russian fighters.
  10. Tease? How about this landscape for a potential future project? ;)
  11. The updated map with the satellite data: A preview render of Vladivostok in Global Mapper: The satellite imagery is not perfect and some data is not 100% lined up either. There are some clouds that also need to be edited out. Once this is done, and the terrain mesh is created, I'm going to create new farm textures and add in roads, rivers, cities, and airports. Due to lack of better data, I'm aiming for the map accuracy to be an "approximate representation" rather than killing myself getting the 1m resolution accuracy city/road/airport data. In the end this is a game and we aren't CIA or military. Even FC 2.0 is an "approximate representation", IE Runway 13 at Batumi. The terrain will end up being about the same land mass as the DCS/FC2 map.
  12. Update, I've obtained higher resolution images with "Truecolor" terrain coloration. I'm rebuilding the terrain with this new data, and it should look much more crisp. Screenshots will follow. Old data vs New data
  13. It's just for aesthetics really so no. I would use it in just for fun applications like moviemaking :)
  14. You can change the rgb values yourself.
  15. Since the DCS engine is more optimized your performance should improve in 2.0. Also try turning the water to medium and using some framerate tweaks.
  16. Eagle Dynamics' terrain is much lower resolution than this, so they need to add the general textures to make it look better at lower altitudes- especially farms and cities.
  17. What files did you edit with this?
  18. Try http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/All_about_land
  19. They could help test our Manchuria theater :)
  20. Varyag was sold to China like 10 years ago...
  21. Since this terrain is desert, it had the danger of looking too similar to Hawg11's Nevada. However, Nevada's Noise texture is lighter in color and has small bushes and plants with sand, and Batou's is darker and more rocky and sparse giving the terrain a totally different feel and character. Feels very authentic when you look at real life pictures of the Afghanistan desert and notice that the composition of the sand is different. A-10 over Afghanistan F-15 at Nellis Hawg11 vs Batou

LOMAC 1.0 was released in 2003, so I guess it's more along the lines of 7 years. Still very cool, I think Falcon 4 and Janes F-15 only held my interest for like 3 years Multiple planes and good variety was LOMAC's sticking point :)
