  1. hi guys EVERY time I boot up a game, none of the icons ingame work. Plus, if I move my mouse around the screen (in game I mean), I can see my desktop icons. The only way to fix this is to click on the icons which will effectively ALT TAB me out of the game to the desktop, then I ALT TAB back in and we're good to go. This is very annoying. Similarly, most of the time I can't click 'Quit' when trying to exit a mission unless I ALT TAB to the desktop again.
  2. well, the jungles don't have to be detailed (this isn't BF3) and I'm sure there's a way of reducing the # of polygons or whatever they use to lessen the impact on FPS. Still though....I reckon this has merit.
  3. Agreed. But again, I'm only concentrating on the Vietnam conflict due to the large scale jet action that took place - probably on a greater scale than anything that has happened before or since (except probably Korea). However, the same could probably be said for WW2...we do have a P51..I understand an FW190 is on its way...we just need an ME109K and a Spit IX and we'd be good (for starters anyway).
  4. lol yeah sorry, added that too. I knew all of these additional a/c but I just wanted to sort of prove a point that with all the current a/c in development (except the new stuff I saw above which I didn't know about), we could practically have a Vietnam campaign. Whilst I like modern day a/c, I LOVE historical battles rather than make believe. I've been reading a lot about F105 pilots who flew in Vietnam (100 missions) and so would love to recreate the missions they flew. Besides, think about...Vietnam would be an excellent campaign to do - lots of a/c, SAMs, bombing, air to air refueling, carrier ops (from just off the coast), etc etc etc.
  5. Added to the original post - how could I forget the A6?? lol...the USAF/USN/USMC used so many diff a/c over there - I've pasted the wiki list below: A-1 Skyraider ground attack aircraft A-37 Dragonfly ground attack aircraft F-5 Freedom Fighterlight-weight, low-cost fighter used in strike aircraft role A-4 Skyhawk carrier borne strike aircraft A-6 Intruder carrier borne all weather strike aircraft A-7 Corsair II carrier borne strike aircraft AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter AC-47 Spooky gunship (four) with the 1st Air Cavalry Division AC-130 "Spectre" Gunship AC-119G "Shadow" Gunship AC-119K "Stinger" Gunship B-52 Stratofortress heavy bomber B-57 Canberra medium bombers - used by the U.S. Air Force Canberra B.20 Royal Australian Air Force medium bomber F-4 Phantom II carrier and land based fighter-bomber F-8 Crusader carrier and land based fighter-bomber F-105 Thunderchief fighter-bomber F-100 Super Sabre fighter-bomber F-101 Voodoo (RF-101) fighter-bomber/reconnaissance plane F-102 Delta Dagger fighter F-104 Starfighter fighter F-111 Aardvark medium bomber OH-6 Cayuse Transport/ Observation helicopter OH-58 Kiowa Transport/ Observation helicopter OV-10 Bronco, light attack/observation aircraft UH-1 "Huey" gunship role (various models)
  6. hi guys I posted this in the wishlist but wanted to know others feedback. Basically we have the following in development: - Mig21 - A7 Corsair II - UH-1 Huey - F100 (I think) It would be awesome if someone (ie. DCS or 3rd parties) could make the following atleast: - F4 Phantom II - F105 Thunderchief - South East Asia map covering Vietnam (North & South), Cambodia, Laos, Thailand or parts of it. THEN we'd have the makings of a DCS Vietnam type campaign where the F4s escort the F105s to North Vietnam to be confronted by SAMs and Mig21s, with F105s doing Wild Weasel flights to suppress SAMs. They would also require air to air refueling. The Hueys would also be in their 'element' ie. flying from FOB to FOB, doing gun runs, etc. Other 'nice to haves' could be: - A6 Intruder - A4 Skyhawk (USN) - A1 Douglas Skyraider ("Spad") - (USN/USAF) - for CAS/SAR missions - CH53 "Jolly Green Giant" - for SAR missions - F111 - Mig 17 What do you think? Too far fetched?
  7. whatever it is....as long as it has substantial ground attack ability...I want it! :)
  8. yeah but atleast, with the middle east, you can recreate battles from the past. I'm sincerely hoping that they release not only a ME map, but a SE Asia map as well ie. Vietnam/Thailand/Laos to go with the Mig 21/A7/Huey/etc. I like hypothetical scenarios as much as the next guy, but I prefer something more akin to actual historical battles - the Linkbacker campaigns, Rolling Thunder campaigns, etc - that would be awesome to replay ie. - Mig 17/21 vs - F4/A7/A4/F105/A6 (hopefully) You also had close support missions with airborne FACs dropping iron bombs, napalm, etc and you could actually use the upcoming UH-1 Huey in the proper environment doing the same thing. Just makes sense if you ask me. Sure its a longshot but well worth it I reckon.
  9. what they need is a middle eastern environment. Some of the greatest jet battles in recent history have occurred in the middle east (eg. 6 day war, gulf war, etc) although not necessarily air to air.
  10. yep I get the same thing...try doing that at low level and the A/P will fly you into the ground....guess how I found out! :)
  11. I don't know if its been requested before but I sincerely hope that DCS (or a 3rd party) consider making an F4 Phantom II or F105 Thunderchief ("Thud") which would be good adversaries (well the F4 anyway) for the upcoming Mig 21. So if you consider the following: - Mig 21 (in dev) - F4 Phantom II (hopeful) - F105 Thunderchief (hopeful) - Bell UH-1 (in dev) - A7 II Corsair (in dev) - Vietnam map (North and South and perhaps Thailand - hopeful) We've almost essentially got ourselves the ingredients for a Vietnam-type campaign!! Perhaps an A-1 Skyraider ("Spad") thrown in for both the USAF and USN.....
  12. I would love a new fighter/bomber - SU24 I think it is. More ground pounding choices.
  13. hi guys I'm a noob with DCS stuff so I've started learning the SU25 from scratch, however I can't seem to fire missles (tv guided) eg: - I line up the target and select 7 with vkhir missles - shkval on, slew to target and lock - reduce size of target to around 10m (vehicles) - I then put the target in the missle aiming reticle (heck I even tried turning on the laser arming mode) - I then get the launch authorised notification and I'm within range however when I hit space or my joystick button to fire (which works for cannons and rockets/bombs), nothing happens ie. no firing. Same happens when I try a SEAD training mission. any suggestions? am I missing a step?
  14. hi guys I haven't played A10 for a while and wanted to get back into it, but I don't know what version it is so that I can update with the correct patches (given the patches are incremental). Thanks
