RWR in Su-25T almost unreadable in daylight conditions
Fer109 replied to Fer109's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
But I remember when flying it few years ago, I didn't have such a problem with the Su-25T. I guess it is something new from a certain time till now. By the way I have a Nvidia 1080, in case it could be related with my graphic card. -
Recently I tried to fly this plane and I discovered that now it is very hard to read the lights on the SPO-15 during most of the daylight missions. In other Russian planes (Su-27, J-11...) I didn't find this problem. Has anybody found the same problem, know how to solve it or if it is already reported? Thank you in advance for your answers. I can understand that ED must be busy fixing bugs of paid modules, but just in case they found some time to take care of this minor issue, it would be very fine.

In the open beta version the "Ammunition replenishment start" ( by default is LAlt+\ ) command can be seen in the control setup duplicated and in a different orange color (instead of the standard grey color of the rest of commands).

I had the same problem. Try to add at the end of your monitorlua file this: "GU_MAIN_VIEWPORT = Viewports.Center"

I had the same problem in the open beta version. My oficial release version doesn't have any problem. You gave me a clue and I fixed it by adding at the end of my monitorlua file this: "GU_MAIN_VIEWPORT = Viewports.Center"

DCS Carrier Wars - Round 1.2 - Battle on the Black Sea
Fer109 replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Tournaments & Events
A quite interesting flight in an international environment. Waiting for the next one. Thanks to 104th for hosting and managing this great event, and congratulations to the Red team for the well-prepared gameplan, particularly to those who were able to return to the Kuznetsov safe and sound... -
DCS Carrier Wars - Round 1.2 - Battle on the Black Sea

Any problem with my signing up? I requested to join on 4 December Reise too. -
We agree on that. Just in case, using "bearing" instead of "radial" could be good enough. I will only add +-180 degrees for saying my BE position. But I would prefer to skip that task if possible. Thank you for your comment. PS If I had a dedicated controlled for my flight, I would ask for BRAA format with no doubt. It´s easier for pilots. The issue is that usually I am not the only station airborne.

What is true is that I didn’t mention how specifically USN/USAF usually works. Obviously, GCIs can use whatever format they want ot need. What I meant BE format normally is the "default" choice. As a matter of fact, "picture" calls implies bullseye format. My intention was not to create a debate about that, neither was my topic. The fact is that for few groups, of course TACTICAL format would be workable and better, but for several groups (like we can find in many server like BLUE FLAG or 104TH) TACTICAL information is just useless for the other players. The reason why GCI are overwhelmed in crowded servers is because they stick to TACTICAL format. I only want to have the tools in DCS to be able to work properly using BULLSEYE format too. There are already implemented some options, but in my view not enough, in particular in FC3. For instance, working with BULLSEYE format in the F-15C at this moment requires a huge effort to pilots: First of all, your selected WYPT has to be the BE. Secondly, to check your current BE position you should check the opposite heading of the HSI pointer (for knowing your radial), and then the distance (in HUD or HSI). And finally, estimate the bearing and distance of the “bogey” BE position related to our BE position. So complex steps make BE format not workable in DCS at this moment, let alone pilot training for working like that. Using NS430 as I mentioned above is a way to promote or allow it, at least in a limited way, and at the same time, increase our “situational awareness”. Anyway and regardless my opinion concerning the use of BE format, I am just doing a simple suggestion to Belsimtek in order to improve this module: to be able to select “radial” as a field. My fear is that as far as “radial” is not an option in the real GNS 430, they would not implement in DCS NS430 either. Therefore maybe I should firstly request it to Garming… Who knows if Belsimtek can improve real products… :smilewink:

I have just bought NS430 module. My goal is to use it as a “situational awareness” display, using the second page of the “nav” mode. In this page you can also add “showing fields” and change them. My idea is having present my Bullseye position all the time close to a map showing my aircraft position. In the first field, I use “waypoint” (the bullseye), in the third “distance”, but in the second instead of “bearing”, I tried to change field to “radial”. But this options is not possible. There are many fields you can choose, but not “radial”. I know the “radial” is the same as “bearing”+-180 degrees. But if possible, it would be very nice to have this option too. Real life GCIs use BULLSEYE format for giving information instead of TACTICAL (BRAA, Bearing Range Altitude and Aspect). Despite of the fact that TACTICAL information is easier to understand, in fact it is only useful for the single group GCIs are reporting to. On the other hand, even it is true that BULLSEYE format information is less intuitive because you need to assess your BE position and then the position provided by the GCI at the same time, it will be useful for all the players on frequency. And in the long run, it should be the default format in a multiplayer missions. GCI controllers cannot afford to broadcast TACTICAL information to every each player, in particular, in overcrowded servers. Sooner or later, we have to promote, or at least to provide tools to use BULLSEYE format. Mirages already have this option, F-18 is working on that… Therefore, almost all modules could join to BE format with the help of the NS430. That is way of my request, and by the way, it looks quite simple to be done.

TGPs from A-10C and Harrier can successfully designated tgts, and even lase and guided weapons (like Kh-25ML) for Su-25T using laser code 1113. I tried that with human players with satisfactory results. But I tried the opposite and it doen´t work. Using Su-25T and designating tgts, with "Shkval" and activating laser can NOT be detected by LST(looking for that 1113 code) from A-10Cs either Harriers. Moreover, I tried launching a Kh-25 ML to "force" ilumintation, and still they can not detect my Su-25T laser. Anybody ever tried something like that or can find an answer? It seems to me that TGP laser is good for Su-25T, but no the opposite. My goal with that is being able with Su-25T to guide GBU delivered from other ac like M-2000C that can perform ingreess from very high altitude, standoff ground threats, while I guide them from the distance. Thank you in advance for wise answers.

Andrew8604, I agree that if we find boost fuel pump and generators on or off at the beginning of the mission will not make big difference but, Firstly, its the correct way as pilot should find these switches. Secondly, we should not mix what it is implemented from what it is not. I am not asking to implement new weapons not implemented yet (as you mention nuclear bombs), I just requesting to "correct" default position of some switches that they are already implemented. In general, I dislike to be discussing in this topic "bugs and problems" what we prefer, think or desire. We should focus in reporting things to be corrected or revised. And last but not least, it is quite easy to fix. Belsimtek has made a very nice work with this F-5E module. As mentioned in the e-shop this module has a "Detailed modelling of the F-5E instruments, engine, radios, fuel, electrical, and hydraulic systems", so, I just want to help them to comply with that. It will be good for everybody, Belsimtek, DCS and users.

According to DCS F-5E-3 FLIGHT MANUAL page 126: “NOTE: Floodlights are an emergency lighting. If the AC system fails, the floodlights are powered by the DC system (from the battery) and provide illumination in the cockpit, bypassing the FLOOD knob. In this case, the ENG INSTR knob must be out of the OFF position for the floodlights to operate.” But according to T.O. 1F-5E-1 manual, Section I (page 1-100), also need that FLOOD knob to be out of OFF position (both knobs: ENG INSTR AND FLOOD). (and obviously, Battery switch - ON)
-
In a cold start, we can use Utility Light with Battery switch off. But according to DCS F-5E MANUAL page 271 (Electrical System picture), to provide with electrical power to 28-Volt DC Bus (where Utiliy light is located) Battery switch need to be in ON position. So, I recommend that Utility light to work should need: Battery switch ON, or one engine and generator ON (it will get DC POWER through Transformer Rectifier), or external power connected.

You can read in DCS F5E-3 Flight Manual, Normal Procedures, page 189: "Put aircraft in “cold start at the ramp” position for engines start procedure. During cold start all switches are set to required position, i.e. preflight procedures are completely fulfilled". What you prefer, Andrew, could be fine... but I prefer what we can read in official manuals too. I agree G00dnight, but before every flight, fighters are pre-flight checked by ground crew, using a checklist, and they "deliver" the plane to pilots in a standard and proper way. Normally this way is the same way that pilot leave the plane after doing ENGINE SHUTDOWN procedure. And as you can read in DCS F5E-3 Flight Manual, page 206, Engine Shutdown procedure, step 4: "4. All Unguarded Switches (except battery, generators, and fuel boost pumps) – OFF. " Moreover, we use to find the plane in a "cold start" with airbrakes out and flaps up, because this reason, ergo, because in the After Landing procedure we have to put them in that way.
-
I a cold start, we normally find Diluter Lever placed in “100% Oxygen”, but Default position should be better “Normal Oxygen” as the standard position. To support my suggestion, we can find in T.O. 1F-5E-1, Section II, in PREFLIGHT CHECK Right Console Operation procedures, 1.b. Diluter Lever- Normal. I consider this as a minor issue, but easy to fix.
-
In a cold start, you will normally find fuel boost pump and generators switches in off position, and according to normal procedures they have to be placed on for starting up engines. In my opinion, these switches should be on by default at the beginning of the mission. To support my suggestion, if we read ENGINE SHUTDOWN procedure in T.O. 1F-5E-1, Section II, we can find in step 3, that fuel boost pump and generator switched are leaved on. Therefore, It is normal to expect finding them on in the next start. I know that these changes would affect to DCS F-5E manual and the training mission, but it would be nice this minor issue to be corrected.
