  1. Thanks for the replies guy, I'll have to test the editor suggestions :)
  2. Ok, everytime I talk with JTAC I ask him: ....What do you have for us?" Then JTAC starts telling me targets it wants me to destroy. And what direction the SAM or AAA threats are... My question is, how can I tell JTAC to assign a certain type of target for me? For example, If Im entering an area of operation, I want JTAC to tell me where the SAMs are first so I can take them out. Then I want to know where the AAA (if any) are. Then I'll focus on the Primary Target or Tanks. How can I get JTAC to give me exact cords. of SAMs? Im tired of spending half of the mission time trying to spot the exact location of the SAM site that JTAC just warned me about before he told me to take out a tank column. He tells me the UTM of the Tanks just find, the SAMs I need to guess.. Somewhere NorthEast about 6 miles, thats all he tells me.
  3. Lets say Im doing a campaign, how do I pull that information up while in game?
  4. Lets say I started the mission, and I didn't write the radio frequencies down. How do I check what they were for ATC, Wingman, AWACS, TANKER, etc. ?? Without having to abort the mission.
  5. L-ALT + P Turns on. L-SHIFT + P Turns off
  6. This might be a spoiler so dont read if you think it is..
  7. GGTharos, Ok. I'll give you that... Except for one thing. It should still be "Behind the Tankbuster" :)
  8. Ok, it does seem to be more effective when attacking from behind, and at a steeper downward angle. Which I find really strange. I've done some research, seen the History channel, Googled, Youtubed, Wiki, etc. and I can not for the life of me find ANYTHING that says an A-10 is not effective against a T-80 or T-72 if attacking from the front. In fact some of the Videos I've seen clearly show a tank being attacked and the front of the tank is the target, no problem is destroying it at all. Why should it matter in this sim if you're attacking it from the front or behind? I know the tank has thicker armor in the front, but no tank can survive the GAU-8 Avenger within .7 miles of burst rounds. From what people have said in this forum, attacking the tank from behind angels 10 and within .7 miles is how you kill the tanks. Is that a correct assumption? I seriously doubt that out of the 900 tanks destroyed in the first Iraq war (those of which destroyed by the GAU-8) all those kills that were done from attacking the tanks from behind because hitting from the front or side would be useless. If thats the case, they need to give the A-10 a new nickname. From "Tankbuster" to "Behind the Tankbuster"
  9. Im still waiting for someone to explain how this tank (log detail above) can return accurate fire after getting hit twice by an A-10's GAU-8. Most importantly, how is still survived and still combat effective. Its impossible.
  10. Ok guys, I just looked at the log file, and I am hitting the tanks. I fired on 2 tanks T-80s to be exact. Log file says: Me > Shot > GAU8 30 AP Me > Shot > GAU8 30 HE Me > Group #9 T80U > Hit GAU8 30 AP Me > Shot > GAU8 30 AP Me > Shot > GAU8 30 HE Me > Group #13 T80U > Hit GAU8 30 AP Group #13 > Me > Hit 7 62x54 Me > Failure Group #13 > Me > Hit Utes 12 7x108 T Me > Failure Me > Shot > GAU8 30 AP Me > Shot > GAU8 30 HE Me > Group #13 T80U > Hit GAU8 30 AP Group #13 > Me > Hit Utes 12 7x108 T Me > Failure Me > Landed As you can see, I successfully hit the tanks. One of them even returned fired and hit me back! On two runs, causing me to return to base for repairs. I have to call BS on this. If a tank was just struck twice by an A-10, lets say 30+ rounds hit it. It will NOT be able to return fire. No way. Especially so accurate on the same pass that the A-10 has to return to base. No way in hell. I can send the Log file if you want to see it.
  11. Ahh, That could be the issue. I'll focus more on waiting till the target is in within .7nm. Thanks guys.
  12. I think I started around 2 miles are so, but I just tired a test map and the tank did blowup this time. Maybe I was just missing and had back luck. I dont know. That leads to a question I have, Is it possible to force the TGP diamond on the hud to stay visible? Mine disappears when the CCIP dot when using guns moves over the TGP diamind, which makes it more difficult to actually know if Im 100% aligned with the target. Do you know what I mean?
  13. Im having absolutely NO luck with using the Gun against a T-72. Once again I opened up all of my 1150 rounds on a single T-72 on several passes and it wasn't even smoking. I know I was hitting it, it even popped smoke a few times to hide itself when it was getting shot at! Im going to make a quick track attacking a tank today. Its really annoying the hell out of me!
  14. The game has an "Encyclopedia" but it seems to lack detail on the different types of rockets. Unfortunately I couldn't find it on this forum either, or the manual, so I ask... What is the difference in the types of rockets listed below... M-257 M-278 MK-1 MK-5 MK-61 M-151 M-156 M272 WTU-1B Thank you
  15. You can assign your weapon loadout when you're on the ground parked at anytime. Just press the \ key and chat with "Ground Crew" > Rearm > Select a weapons loadout that you like and includes the Pod. I personally Like Anti Armor > option 9. If you going to fly that high you will need a Targeting Pod.
  16. I've done a few strafing runs on the first campaign and I've noticed it's taking a lot of rounds to destroy a tank. I remember before the patch it wasn't so difficult. Did they reduce the damage for the main gun or am I mistaken? I know Im hitting my target because I see the gun bullet holes in the ground around the target area through my TGP. In the real world less than a dozen direct hits is enough to make a t-80 continue its career in a museum. If I spit 400 rounds at it and they all landed within a 30ft radius, surely at least 12 found their mark. But yet the tank isn't even smoking. I just hope Im mistaken and the damage from the gun wasn't reduced.
  17. Find the targets via Targeting Pod first. Then SOI the Mavericks to the target you spotted with your TGP. Zoom in the mavericks view and lock on to the target. Easy kill from 20k feet.
  18. I researched this, but Im surprised I didn't see anything on it. There should be a sound effect that enables the moment you turn on the Oxygen flow till the moment you turn it off. The sound of the pilot breathing, especially when pulling hard G turns should be heard. Im NOT saying it should be loud. But a settle sound like 5 or 10% volume of all other in cockpit sounds. In fact if it were in sync with the "FLOW" indicator on the Oxygen levels, that would be even cooler. This sound will actually help remind me if I forget to enable the oxygen flow. What do you think?
  19. I don't know about you guys, but Im really looking forward to a Campaign in a desert/middle eastern environment. I tired to create my own, but it looks as though you can only make maps based off one, Russia style area? Or is there a Desert map that I overlooked? I would really like to do Missions involving Middle Eastern style scenarios. Maybe like a fictional Iran invasion or something. Or scud hunting, A-10 Missions taken from both Iraq wars and put into one fictional war.etc. I checked the user files and didn't see anything like it. Is it possible or not at the moment? btw: This new patch does rock!
  20. Qazme, sometime next week? Are you serious? I guess I'll look into downloading and updating it manually... I know a lot of customers on this game come from Steam, I guess if it will take another week it must not be easy... Strange.
  21. Whats the deal? Why doesn't it just auto-update through steam anyway? I hate dealing with directory changes, deleting, install this before you install that, patch simi, patch full, yadda yadda yadda. I like Steam so the only thing I have to do is come home and play and its already updated with autoupdating. How long before Steam gets the latest???
  22. Why don't they just update it on Steam also? So many people use Steam, such as myself. In fact I would have never even found this game if I hadn't seen it on Steam.
  23. Im not sure the correct way to do this... I've been marking positions that are called out by JTAC (example: MM234765) by selecting a random waypoint like Waypoint 5 > ON CDU set STEER PT > WAYPOINT > Switching from L/L to (the other options forgot the name) > Entering in the keypad MM234765 >update the waypoint.... So now Waypoint 5 is the location JTAC wants me to focus on. Is this correct procedure? I think it would be better if I created a MARKER at the position so I dont screw up any preplanned waypoints, but Im not exactly sure how to do it. The Manual really doesn't explain how to setup Markers. Any suggestions?
  24. Awesome, thanks guys!
  25. Ok, Please tell me if Im missing any steps. (p.s. I didn't complete the landing tutorial because Im using Easy Communications and that kind of threw it off) 1. I radioed the tower and set "Inbound" 2. Set my Nav > Divert > Selected correct airfield > Observed ILS info. 3. Entered the ILS info into the ILS correct (ping was heard) 4. Enabled "ILS" directly in front of the cockpit joystick 5. Got landing clearance. What do I need to do at this point to get the ILS to display in my HUD? After flaps, gear and successful landing.. 6.Landed successfully then parked, refueled, and rearmed. What do I need to do to get my CICU to reset the weapon loadout without having to turn it off and turn it back on, then "LOAD" again? Any other tips or something Im missing when doing a quick landing to rearm and take off again would be great!
