  1. So Im still having trouble deciding on hard drives... I took EtherealN's advice and decided to go for a 1TB 7200rpm hdd but I can't quite figure out which ones are good quality. I was looking at SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive Is that a good one or should aim for something better? Im getting a second job to come up with more dough for this build so I won't mind a whole lot spending a little more... I can tell you I pretty much dont wanna do a SSD, just seems like too much money
  2. I laughed :p
  3. lol im curious too
  4. I am in complete agreement with you here, Kuky. To me a small fee would seem completely reasonable for this kind of patch. I see it on the same level as paying a monthly fee for MMOs like WoW or Planetside. A fee of around $15 would actually make me feel better about the patch since they are putting in the work for us. On top of that, it might motivate them to provide an even higher quality service than what they are already providing since they have been compensated for their efforts. Just my two cents. -Dakota
  5. Ive been told the 560 would be pretty sufficient, though I have yet to actually buy one so I cant vouch for it
  6. Anybody know some good sites for military aviation desktop wallpapers? tried some google searches, didnt find much that were any good.
  7. How about this one: Who coined the phrase "coin the phrase"?
  8. I see thx winz :p
  9. Just curious, is it really necessary to have more than 8GB of DDR3 RAM to run black shark on high settings? Considering the rest of the hardware on the comp is fairly sufficient (like a core i5 2500k, asus p67 mobo, and gtx 560 GPU)
  10. This first one is by the chill ass lady Lynx, she has an amazing voice This one is tripped out but syncs up so well with the beat
  11. Ah ok thanks Namenlos!! Heres another one, make sure you listen long enough to get to the drop (youll know when you get there ha)
  12. this is so cool I grew up in ftw, stuck in oklahoma going to school atm, but that would be so fun to attend one of these! My brothers and I used to host LAN parties all the time with our friends and always enjoyed the hell out of them, that is after we troubleshooted for several hours to get everyone working ha. Next time I'm down there and this is going on I'd for sure drop in and see the action!
  13. this is a noob question but how do u post the actual video in the thread?
  14. Thanks for that info Kuky! So I guess its not gonna hurt to just go ahead and get the professional version...
  15. Is the difference between Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional worth worrying about? I am a student so I can get the Professional version for very cheap from my university. However, if its going to make a big performance difference then I'll go with whatever one is better...
  16. Ahhh ok I see what you mean then, thanks for all your help! After reading everything from other users I figured I might as well go ahead and bite the bullet and increase by budget to at least $1,000. After buying TrackIR and a new windows 7 I'm probably looking at like $1,200 to $1,300. I was hoping to get a new copy of windows for discount price, being a student and all, however it seems they only do it for the Professional version instead of the Home Premium. I even had my sister check with her university and its the same story. =(
  17. Thanks for some direction y'all. DarkGriffon, what do you mean by bells and whistles, I was looking at the ASUS Crosshair IV and someone had mentioned bells and whistle as well. Also, if I plan on getting an Intel CPU is that still going to run well because I kept reading about how this mobo is apparently really good for AMD over-clocking? If I get intel will over-clocking be necessary? When it comes to that stuff I'm usually pretty bad about doing it, I'm always afraid I'm going to break something when I tweak around with it.
  18. can anyone shed some light on motherboards and what I should be looking for?
  19. Yea I think that whats its looking like im going to do, DarkGriffon. I was originally building this comp for DCS A-10C but after thinking about and receiving advice from friendly people here on this forum, it looks like I am going to start with Black Shark. I'll most likely end up getting both but helicopters are what really amaze me and I love the way they fly so I think BS is the best place to start. I still wanna get into A-10C at some point becuase "I wanna go fast!"
  20. I was actually wondering about this too. If I download DCS will I be able to load it on another computer someday? Im still a ways from getting enough cash to build a computer for it but I was thinking of going ahead and buying the game so I can start reading the manual in my spare time
  21. Thats some good info Ether I'll def keep that in mind. Thx!
  22. Im getting some help from very friendly people on this forum to build a new computer. I'm primarily building it with DCS A-10C in mind, so it should be able to handle black shark extremely well. What I was wondering is which one would be good to start playing first? Does it take more time to learn how to play black shark since its a helicopter and those are just a bit more complicated? If I go with A-10C am I going to get in the air quicker and start blowing up baddies than if I were to start with black shark? Just wondering what yall's opinions were... much love, dakota
  23. Ok thanks so much yall that info is very helpful! Was looking at power supplies and is a 1000W pwr supply going to be enough? is the power supply a good place to really try and save money cause its looking like my budget is nearly reaching $1000 dollars so lol. Btw if you havint noticed I pretty much know nothing about computers, thats why Im having lotsa questions but everything presented in this thread has been a tremendous help so thanks again!
  24. so is the difference between AMD and Intel really a big deal or....? I pretty much get equal recommendations for both and really like the price of that amd phenom II 4x 955. Also if you were to guesstimate a general price range for graphics card (I was thinking nvidia), what would that be? I was looking around they can get as expensive as my entire budget, so Im just wondering how much is enough to spend on the gpu. And last question I promise heh, is it better to match an AMD with ATI gpu or maybe intel with nvidia gpu... or does it even matter? Thx for all the help so far yall!
