It sounds exactly the same on my end. Check your audio configuration?

Thank god for windowed mode and dual monitors ;)

OK confirmed, complete uninstall from Steam. Install via the 1.1.0.7 download from the ED site. Your CD Key is saved into the registry of your machine and the license is still active as long as you have not renamed your PC or changed the hardware. 1.1.0.8 patch installed flawlessly and you can join multiplayer etc. No more messing with the Steam version for me, thanks to ED for being cool and setting it up that way. Learned my lesson no more of their products through Steam!
-
Yes the Steam key appears to work. I think my computer is borked though. After installing 1.1.0.7 it launched fine, after installing the 1.1.0.8 patch it went all wonky. I think I still have things pointing to my Steam directory on the protection stuff for the sim. Gotta get rid of star force and reinstall yet again then I will let you know for certain. (The activation did work though, in fact it never asked me to activate, and when running the security stuff it said the license was still installed, valid, and activated.)

Not sure if it's just me, hopefully it is, but patching the Steam version like this has broken multi-player with a "Integrity Check Failed" message. And no the old fixes from beta no not fix this one. SO I'm in the process of downloading the game straight from ED and seeing if the serial key works for it too. If so I'm done with Steam with this sim. So word to the others thinking of trying it, something to look out for. For what it's worth the single player worked perfectly.
-
Yeah I would be too, however waiting and extra week, just means next time I'll be manually patching again anyways. If something in the ncf/gcf gets messed with all you have to do is delete it and steam will download another version. It's only 2MB......(I found it totally over looked it.)
-
Humm no ncf file here for DSC:WH. No gcf either funny enough. Either way I'm enjoying my 1.1.0.8. If something fowls up I'll just reinstall it's not that big of an issue.
-
You mean gcf? It will be ok it will "patch" it once again and update the gcf file. Least games in the past have without issue. One thing I did notice the activation once updated, which is supposed to happen, moved me from 10 to 9 and ED said they had given us an extra activation.
-
I just ran the updater and remove the "new folder" when selecting what directory to install too. Just picked "\Steam\steamapps\common\dcs a-10c warthog" as the directory.
-
You can use 32bit apps in 64bit windows. My trackIr is running 32bit on Windows 7 Professional. On a side note, I used the updater on my steam install and it patched just fine. I just had to specify the folder for it to install to, so you guys with Steam patch away!

Hardly anything, in real life, will run without the AC being turned on, however I have started the A-10 up in DCS without touching the inverter switch. I think they only thing really modeled on that switch is the sound. None the less learn it fully right the first time this is a 'study sim' after all.
-
Yeah the two big fixes I REALLY want are the gen switch fix and the shadows. Man it will make a marked improvement in the sim for me. Was hoping, like you guys, that it would be released over the weekend but didn't expect it since it was a holiday weekend. Maybe the end of this week I hope!(hopefully sooner!)

Hey ComradeLucifer, there can be a number of issues causing this to happen. Nobody will be able to give you an answer without looking at your machine or the dump files from the BSOD. The easiest solution for you is to download BlueScreenView and check the dump report for yourself. More than likely it's a driver that has gotten corrupted or isn't compatible that got installed. Your dump files if it doesn't open the right directory from the start is 'C:\Windows\Minidump' depending on what drive you have windows installed. Hope this helps ya some.

Mine turns off automagically when I start dropping gear getting ready to land.

Wait so when we hear those we aren't suppose to eject? I thought it was the only way to the ground since there are no ladders?! (Joking of course) I'm surprised if the pilots do anything more than shut down the engines and fuel pumps and turn off the generators and battery switch. I mean essentially once you have killed the engines and the electrics it's 'safe', with the exception of the ejection seat which anyone in their right mind would disarm before unstrapping. I imagine the ground crew returns the rest back to the 'safe' position for the next flight. I mean do you really want to try and fly a plane that a combat pilot safed after being shot at and tired out over a couple hours?!
-
That's why they are called steering bars and not guide bars. lol, HUGE difference, almost 180 degrees worth ;)
-
Yeah I love it SSSSOOOOOO MMMMUUUUCCCCCHHHH I just want to kick it's hog's teeth in at times. Man, this thing just throws new things at you everyday.
-
Figured out my heading bars being stuck in the middle permanently was because both VHF radios where sent to ON instead of TR causing the navigation error. Knew I would find it!
-
It some airplanes you can change your HSI from magnetic to true and set it as the runway marking and be fine. However I don't or haven't found that yet in this sim, as well as magnetic headings for the runways.

Yeah I have HUGE respect for the pilots in the military. Especially guys running CAS because while we are stressed not to get shot down and make this munition hit the target, when / if it goes wrong, "oh well restart", there is no restart button for blue on blue events or really losing your life. Not to mention the cool head you have to have on your shoulders for the lengths of time you are in pure boredom and then sheer terror. My dad is a police officer and he often explains his job as, "50% paperwork, 45% pure boredom, 5% sheer adrenalin." That's kind of how I imagine the guys and gals fighting for us, either in the air or on the ground. I mean after all who can't respect them, everyone has at least one family member in the military now a days.

How long did it take you to learn the A10?
Qazme replied to Flacracker's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I've done some of that....not on purpose though, dang AAA and low flying.....including some of that with half a wing missing and one engine on fire. What's the saying?? Oh yeah going out in flame of glory. lol -
I've used the ground power once. It saved me virtually no time, plus I like throwing switches ;) So I just use the APU for startup and shut it down as part of my final checklist before taxi. It would be helpful in the event, like in some FSX planes, if you stayed on the ramp battery power only doing checklists, taking a break or whatever, to have the ground power to start in the event of battery charge death.

Yeah I tuned the radio and turned it on, I hear the sounds coming from it. I've tried changing the PTR modes from EGI to ILS and nothing makes a difference. It's just not working. It's stuck there rather I decide to turn on or off the ILS radio, when aligned with the HSI and hearing the beeps it stays perfectly centered in the middle, a perfect cross. It worked originally but not anymore. I can swap the PTR switch to ABLE or STOW and it stays in the middle in a perfectly centered cross no matter what. It's like that from startup through the flight and all the way to shut down. I would be happy if I could just get it to STOW as it's annoying while flying having that there. I know it's got to be something I'm doing wrong, but I've ran through the startup procedures and pre-flight checks along with the pre-start checks to make sure all the switches are in the right position. Unless I'm missing something in the check lists, I'm at a complete loss on this one.

Qazme replied to Flacracker's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Same here, I'm nowhere near the "master" level of tuning myself into the A-10. However after two weeks I do find myself able to navigate, use the weapon systems, the major options in the profiles, and setting UTM coordinates from JTAC / OFFSET coordinates from AWACS. So I can find stuff, bomb stuff, and get home however there is still A LOT of reading and practicing to where I fell truly comfortable in what I'm doing. Considering the amount of training you have to do in the real world to get where I am in the sim, especially considering you would still be in ground school at this point, I feel pretty good!
