  1. does any one know where I can download the latest version of DCS world, been out the loop for a three months, tried the auto updater, but that stopped downloading two thirds through, for some reason I cant locate it, thanks in advance.
  2. If you fire the Tunguska horizontally, its range is about 26000ft, however if you fire it vertically, its range is about 20000ft, so roughly, if your 10000ft, and 2nm away, your just coming into range, no doubt there is a more accurate way of calculating this, but taking wind, temp, and air density into account, which will all effect the trajectory, its a quick way of doing the maths.
  3. OK, will do, the mission briefing though, stated that low level was the order of the day, thanks for the reply.
  4. I just flew the serpents head mission, and got shot down by a manpad. I was low level when I was hit, going full throttle. So, what have I learned, nothing really, if I done this mission again I would fly the same route, maybe with a few variables, so, how do I manage next time to get back in one piece.
  5. My fault, the printed ILS approach I was using was for 25, but the CDU, gave the runway as 07, so I was approaching the wrong runway, thus the erroneous glideslope display.
  6. while attempting a visual ILS approach into Kobuleti, I noticed that glideslope was indicating a fly up although my height and attitude seemed ok, to confirm this, I was about a hundred feet, just before the thresehold, with the glide slope indicating that I was very low, in other words the glideslope is giving false indications of being low, the localiser was fine, any ideas, thanks in advance,
  7. Can anyone tell me how to change the barometric altitude on the HUD, to radar altitude, thanks in advance.
  8. Here' the scenario: I find a target with my TGP, lock on to it, and press TMS right short, to make it a mark point, then move the rotary knob to mark point, I then have mark point 'A' on my HUD, all well and good. I then find another target with my TGP and press TMS up long to make it SPI, I then press TMS down long to make it SPI to steerpoint,, then if I press china hat long aft, this should slave my TGP to steerpoint, but this does not happen, it stays on the mark point, what am I doing wrong, thanks in advance.
  9. Can anyone explain why the TGP unlocks sometimes, on a moving target, thanks in advance.
  10. Thanks for the replies, on this particular mission, prior to the bombing there WERE air defences, but they were neutralised by wingey and I, and SEAD, military assets are now reduced down to bog standard tanks, and what not.
  11. If an attack was made on an enemy military fuel depot, that was defended by small arms, and, was many miles away from any civilian population, what would be the bomb of choice, smart or dumb, I suppose it comes down to money VS accuracy, I cant be sure, but apart from the gun, the A-10 in conflict uses dumb iron bombs as first choice, however I could be wrong, thanks in advance.
  12. I want to complete a mission as realistically as possible, so here's my question: In real life, if a military fuel depot was defended by small arms fire, and it was isolated many miles from a civilian population, would dumb bombs be the ordnance of choice, or would the more expensive, smarter version win the day, I suppose it all comes down to accuracy VS money. I picked up some where, that the majority of bombs dropped by A-10s in conflict were dumb, and I was curious as to what would happen in this particular scenario, thanks in advance.
  13. Excuse my ignorance, but just a quick question, if you mirror from one drive to the other, is this the same as copy and paste, thanks
  14. Hi Gerd, yes I know the advantages of an SSD. In earlier posts, NatoBoomarang copied and pasted his DCS world straight from his hard drive onto his new SSD, although this worked initially, I was curious to know if the game performance had improved, if it has, all well and good, if not, then it may be a bit more complicated, and he has just moved the sim from one drive to another without utilizing the advantages of the SSD, several people have already advised me this can happen, and other problems can arise, but then again, they have not dealt with this particular program. It would be interesting to know if anyone has done this transfer, say over a year ago, and has not encountered any problems, and, has noticed an improvement.
  15. Hi SOBEK, that's the point I was making, if you look at my post again I agree with you that the operating system SHOULD be moved to the SSD, otherwise the full advantage of the new drive wont be realised, as I understand, copy and paste, just moves the sim to the new drive, not the operating system.
  16. What's the main difference to the in game performance, with the new SSD?
  17. I am in exactly the same boat, but, I am completely computer illiterate, so I have booked an appointment for someone to install the new SSD, and get it up and running. I discussed the copy and paste idea, and he said, although this would work in the short term, it wont make the sim run any faster, because the operating system needs to be moved onto the SSD drive as well, and, because its just been copied and pasted, updates, and mods etc will cause real problems in the long run, the only way round this is to delete and reinstall the sim, onto the new SSD, please don't shoot the messenger, I am just repeating what I have heard, but, I know this guy has been in the business for twelve years and comes recommended. He also mentioned about partitioning, and formatting, but i'm afraid I was lost by then, now, I admit that some of this may have been lost in translation, but it does seem according to other forums I have now visited, its not as simple as it seems, cheers everyone.
  18. I will be getting a new 240GB SSD in a few days, what's the best way to transfer DCS world only, from my old hard drive, to the new one, thanks in advance.
  19. Does the RAM need to be compatible with the existing one, and as far as the SSD is concerned, do I need 7mm, or 7mm kit, thanks again.
  20. Thanks for your help, I have seen a recommendation on Tomshardware its 256GB, so I take it that will be plenty, also going to throw in 8GB of RAM, as already suggested.
  21. As already mentioned, I only use the computer for DCS world, and my current drive is only about 25% full, so, what size would You recommend for the SSD?
  22. thank you, the site is down at the moment.
  23. Would an SSD replace my existing drive, or could I add it to my computer, and, could you recommend one, more for speed than storage, thanks for all the feedback.
