Sobe, i think you would just replace "Iku" with the name of your preset (i have not tried this method) Iku64 as to why you cannot connect to sim, i see you have "LEAVU2_F15.jar" so it looks like you are using another version and not the leavuEri_2.1 files from my post #2 so i suggest you try it all from scratch using the files from post #2 and see how you go. -

OverDhill, the AOA not working properly is solved by an edit to the export.lua line 1198 original: SendData("16", string.format("%.2f", aoa * 57.3 ) ) change it to: SendData("16", string.format("%.2f", aoa * 1.00 ) ) and give that a go, AOA needle position is not the same degrees as game but it is the same value on the gauge:thumbup: -

it got me thinking and this is getting a bit off track, I wonder if you could have dcs on 1 screen, then helios and leavu and the radar viewport on the second by arranging the monitors like this: imagine you had a rectangle 2x monitor wide and 2x high with with your 2 monitors in the opposite corners of the rectangle dcs top left, helios etc bottom right and lets say those monitors were 1920x1080 the method would be to tell dcs the monitor resolution was something like 2120x1280 or more if need be, so dcs could use the top left corner of the second screen for the radar viewport while leaving the rest of the screen available for leavu not sure if it would work but it entertained me for a few minutes thinking about it  -

OverDhill, no worries mate, u never know peoples skill level when it comes to these things, and it was Iku64 with connection issues then I suspect you still have a problem with the export.lua or the placement of the export folder, but I don't have any further suggestions to try. Iku64 could you please explain how you tell leavu to chose which version of java to use this could come in handy as when I installed both versions of java, x64 first then x32, leavu would start but did not open mfd's just like the problem Sobe is having. -

unfortunately there does seem to be a limit on how small you can go on the leavu mfd's. using Capt Z F-15c profile for example: for a 1920x1080 screen the minimum sizes of the leavu mfd's are not a problem, but on a smaller screen this is a problem like my 1366x768 touch screen laptop. -

Fakum, the instructions from Yoda are not necessary to install leavu if you follow the guide i have posted, but you will learn about the finer details of leavu by reading them. my guide is a how to install, Yoda's guide is a how to use, hope that makes sense. as for the leavu and the shortcut, leavu does not need to be installed with an exe as such, you just copy the leavu folder to your desired location and start it by running the LEAVU2.jar making the shortcut to the LEAVU2.jar was a step i forgot to add in the guide, will update in the next revision. -

Rickety, that is an excellent description of how to install leavu using the guide this is how to do it, it's not the only way but this way works, thanks Rickety we are having a mix of methods talked about in the thread and it's confusing everyone including me :) not sure why u couldn't install the jre, maybe you had a newer version already. the multiple methods is half the problem, the one where files go in the bin folder, and all the export files in the scripts has different do files in the export.lua i will say it again :) Stick to the guide, follow the leavu section using the files provided in post #2 and it works like a charm. -

OverDhill, I see you have one of those MFD Cougar overlay frames over the mfcd if you want to map the helios mfcd buttons to match the leavu buttons then look in my leavu keybinds frame keys 3 eg: the key combo for leavu mfd 3 button 0 = left cntrl + right contrl + 0 in leavu the buttons are layed out as follows: the 20 buttons are numbered 0-19 0-4 is top row from left to right 5-9 is left side top to bottom 10-14 is right side top to bottom 15-19 is bottom row left to right here is a quick and dirty visual of the leavu mfd button layout that matches the leavu preset #'s 0-19 ....0...1...2...3...4 5.......................11 6.........leavu. .....12 7..........MFD.......13 9........buttons.....14 10......................15 ....15.16.17.18.19 if you simply want to make them work on the mfcd in the helios profile in helios bind output pushed for button 0 looks like {LCONTROL}{RSHIFT}0 1. edit your leavu preset with notepad, there you can mess with the sizes and the positions for fine tuning the mfd's to suit your profile the info above is for a different method, please disregard I truly appreciate everyone trying to help but one thing is for sure, we are really getting mixed up here with different methods to get it working, which seems to be generating even more confusion than we have already :) we all know how frustrating it can be when you can't get things to work so, read twice, paste once :) Stick to the guide, follow the leavu section using the files provided in post #2 and it works like a charm. I will go thru all the posts and look at updating the guide with any helpful info. Sobe's issue is with getting leavu working, nothing to do with talking to dcs. he cannot get a leavu mfd to appear even with my single preset when he starts leavu, creates a no frame mfd, sizes and adds it, nothing appears on his screen and nothing in the leavu active list, that is what we need to solve. -

I looked at the download of leavu that Sobe posted and it differs from the one I have, it seems to be an updated version that I was not aware of, I will look at another day. this explain Fakum's questions about the file structure. I have uploaded the zip version of leavuEri_2.1 that have been using to the #2nd post and if you use that version then the file structure will be correct as per the guide. Iku64, just to make sure everything is in the right place the export.lua from my custom files zip Scripts folder goes into your c:\Users\YourUserName\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts folder the export folder from leavuEri_2.1\Fc2 Exports\Config\ goes into your x:\games\DCS World OpenBeta\Config folder -

Fakum, i will try to answer all you questions in bold test “install leavuEri_2.1: (see note below if you already have helios setup) you will find that Yoda has provided a very informative set of instructions with leavuEri_2.1 the steps below show how i got leavu working with DCS v1.5.2, not saying it's the best way but it works and the method may be changed in the future. install jre-8u71-windows-i586 (32bit version is required even on x64 systems so i believe) from leavuEri_2.1\Leavu Client folder: paste leavu folder to desired location eg: x:\games\leavu” __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "you will find that Yoda has provided a very informative set of instructions with leavuEri_2.1" In addition to the instructions set within this specific readme file, am I supposed to also follow the instructions inside of Yodas readme file? no you don't need to read Yoda's instructions for this install process, but i highly recommend it for the understanding leavu better process :) ________________________________________________________________________________ "from leavuEri_2.1\Leavu Client folder: " I have no such file structure, I do have the leavuEri_2.1 File though. Is instruction simply intended to tell you to go the location where you extracted the files? This is the structure that comes in the leavu zip, this is where the leavu folder is found _______________________________________________________________________________________ "paste leavu folder to desired location eg: x:\games\leavu" Assuming this is being installed for DCS Open Beta, is it the intent of these instructions to paste the file “leavuEri_2.1” to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta? no, x:\games\leavu was just an example, leavu can go anywhere you like _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Further down the installation instructions, it states: “start leavu with your desktop shortcut” What shortcut? How was it generated? that could be an oversight, i must have already had one there, i always make a shortcut and add the preset file to its target so it auto runs my preset this is a good example of the info you can learn from Yoda's instructions -

yes the mfd's in leavu do seem to have a minimum size OverDhill, as for leavu mfd default positions if you used or at least modify one of my leavu presets, use my leavu keybinds and modified Capt Zeen F-15c profile you should have a small grey "leavu setup" button approx bottom left of tews clicking the button once will automatically get the right info in the right mfd's Iku64, have u definately copied the dll files to windows and placed the export.lua in your Scripts i have the same F-15c and dcs 1.5.2 so all good there. -

I have now updated post #2 with a new "custom files for G3 guide v3.0".rar added the files you need for a 2x 1920x1080 side by side setup Sobe, the sidebyside files are the ones you want, no need to reset monitors or make any changes copy the sidebyside profile to your documents\helios\profiles folder copy the sidebyside preset to your leavu\presets folder start leavu and load the sidebyside preset start helios and load the sidebyside profile if that doesn't work then get back to me. OverDhill, sounds like you may need to check your dcs monitor setup, first thing to do is make sure in the dcs options, monitors = 1screen and make sure it is the default file, not one you may have edited. if that doesn't work then get back to me. -

I have now updated post #2 with a new "custom files for G3 guide v2.0".rar including files for a single screen setup and a 2 screen setup, just copy and paste these files into the right places and you should be good to go with no need to edit the profile Sobe, did you go into the editor and reset monitors, this is when I have seen the grey background issue, in the editor monitor 2 properties, background fill is checked, when I unchecked this and tried to save the profile it no longer worked so that is one of the reasons why I have uploaded two working profiles for different screen layouts. please describe your monitor layout positions and resolutions and I will try and help you some more with a custom zip if need be. -

you're welcome, individual results may vary :) also see post #2 for some helpful pre configured files they should make setting things up a little easier  when trying to test the fps hit, working with helios i had some trouble doing a reset monitors, i would open the profile, reset monitors from one screen setup to another (in this case from single to 2x horizontal with helios on the rhs) and for some unknown reason after saving the profile it had lost all the bindings and was dead in the water, and i had to untik fill on monitor2 otherwise it was all grey. it would start and load up ok but nothing was happening. after having a chat with Capt Zeen, i ended up manually editing the profile which did the trick. by changing a few numbers i could choose what screen the profile was on and everything worked again, avoiding the need to do a monitor reset from within the profile editor which was causing the problem same goes for the leavu mfd size and x-y positions, they are easy to edit in the preset file will explain further if need be -

Fakum, as far as a fps hit goes, the best I can do is share the results I am getting and explain my setup, sadly I no longer have a full sim setup and am doing all this via laptop and lounge :) testing hardware: first laptop is a I7-2630qm cpu @ 2.0ghz 1920x1080 screen, 8gig ram Nvidia m460 graphics 1.5gig extended the display to my 4k tv as second monitor via hdmi second laptop is a Celeron 847 @ 1.1ghz 1366x768 touch screen, with 2gig ram, 512mb shared with onboard video both running windows 10 x64 so if we use the instant action 1v1 bvr mission dcs graphics options and Nvidia drivers all at stock settings results: the first laptop with extended display to tv dcs only = 26-27 fps dcs + helios only = 24-25 fps dcs + leavu only = 25-26 fps dcs + helios + leavu = 23-24 fps results: first laptop running dcs and second laptop running helios + leavu via wifi/lan dcs only = 26-27 fps so no noticeable impact on fps at all. with everything running from a first laptop I am getting a 2-3 fps hit remembering I am only getting just shy of 30 fps as it is. running dcs on one pc and helios and leavu via wifi/lan, there is no fps hit to dcs pc -

Guides, Downloads and Links, enjoy G3 Note: these guides are specifically designed to be used with the files provided below: the copy of leavuEri_2.1 used in the guides: LeavuEri_2.1.zip the original step by step guide, needs updating: goes into more detail for doing it all from scratch yourself DCS v1.5.2 beta_helios_leavu_G3readme rev1.0.rar a much simpler guide for installing leavu using my custom files: this is all you need to read if using the custom files provided below DCS v1.5.2 beta_leavu_guide v3.0.rar here are some custom files - pre configured to help get you started: if following the simpler guide you will also need to grab these files custom files for G3 guide v5.0.rar the custom files for G3 guide v5.0.rar includes: leavu keybindings folder with the pre configured keybindings for up to 4 mfd's leavu Presets folder with 3x pre configured leavu MFD's presets to suit Capt Zeens F-15c profile helios folder with 3x modified Capt Zeens F-15c profiles and updated profile background (see included readme for the latest profile) Scripts folder with combined export.lua for using both helios and leavu together what u get and why: with these files you can copy the keybindings and presets into leavu, all the MFD's are already in the right places with keybinds already done. so there's no need for you to manually create, position and bind keys to mfd's. you also get 3x modified Capt Zeen F-15c helios profiles (single, below and RHside) complete with the "setup leavu button", it's all been done for you and that means if one of them matches you screen setup then there is no need to reset monitors or make any changes plus there is an updated helios/leavu export.lua ready to go the different screen layouts 3x configurations called single, below and RHside single is setup for a single screen 1920x1080 such as a second pc over lan/wifi below is setup for a 2x 1920x1080 with the dcs screen on top and the second screen for helios and leavu below RHside is setup for 2x 1920x1080 with dcs on the left, helios and leavu on the right what u may still need to download and where to get it: helios v1.3.190 http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com Capt Zeen's F-15c profile http://www.captzeen.com/ note: you still need to install the original Capt Zeen's F-15c profile as it contains all the image files and maps etc. Java 32bit - now updated to jre-8u73-windows-i586 http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=116028 note: this link will start the java download automatically I found if I had both x32 and x64 versions of java installed I had trouble with leavu2 optional software: Input Director Great for sending keystrokes over your network, or to totally control other pc's just like a KVM Input Director http://www.inputdirector.com/ (if u need help, yell out and I am sure one of us can lend a hand) -
How to setup DCS v1.5.2, F-15c + helios + leavuEri_2.1 using a slightly modified version of Capt Zeen's outstanding F-15c helios profile you too can have a functional VSD, TEWS and PACS thanks to leavuEri_2.1 includes a solution for sending keystrokes over wifi/lan to DCS from a second pc see post #2 for more info to get started: following the much simpler guide and use my custom files click to view the image feel free to join the discussion Note: there is a lot of good info here, but also a lot of confusion

G3 replied to Capt Zeen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Capt Zeen, I'd would just like to say what a wonderful job you have done creating such amazing helios profiles, thank you very much. thought I'd share a pic here of your F-15c profile I modified slightly, complete with functioning VSD(radar), TEWS and MPCD(pacs) using LeavuEri_2.1 I will look at creating a new thread with a setup guide for DCS 1.5, helios and leavu using your F-15c profile For those interested, click on the attached thumbnail. Keep up the good work Capt Zeen, cheers G3. -

Ghostdog, other than for a very basic stick setup, I must question your comment. Not just for the sake of the beloved debate but to clarify :) as I thought the ch manager was essential for making or loading CH profiles. Out of interest what documentation are you refering to ? I am just a bit puzzled and would like to know exactly what you mean, cheers.
