  1. It'd be nice to have the option of it starting trim when pressed so that while the t key is pressed the controls do nothing. The release of the "t" key would then indicate the neutral position of the controls. This would minimise any wobbling while resetting the controls to neutral. If it does this currently I'm doing something wrong (quite possible). To AlphaOneSix, do you reset your controls rapidly or slowly while holding the "t" key down? I haven't had much success in resetting them slowly while holding it - the helicopter lurches while I'm resetting the controls (if I just hit/release the "t" button the helo also lurches while I'm resetting the controls). I've only just started flying recently though so it may just be that I need more practice.
  2. For me, "axis" was right under "all" in the drop down box at the top of the controls screen. To invert an axis I selected it and pressed the "tune" button towards the bottom right of the screen - there was a checkbox there to invert the axis.
  3. For anyone looking for a Black Shark squadron in Australia, the Virtual Australian Airforce is starting up Black Shark operations and is always open to new members. We're quite a relaxed group without ranks or formal requirements.
  4. DCS Black Shark, gui as well as sim was crashing frequently to desktop with the crashlog to Microsoft showing an error in directinput8.dll Here's the system: processor C2D 8500 4 GB ram windows XP SP3 ATI 4870 CH fighterstick, throttle, and rudders USB audio for voice comms usb mouse/keyboard connected via a KVM switch Microsoft Sidewinder USB gaming Mouse And here's a work around: Changing connected USB devices, say using the CH manager for the joysticks or by disconnecting the USB audio decreased/increased crashes - reducing the number of devices always seemed to help. Disconnecting the Sidewinder mouse from the system has so far eliminated all crashes. Perhaps this is one for the devs to investigate as this has only ever happened for me in DCS (not lomac or flaming cliffs).
  5. For the trimming of the aircraft [t] key - it'd be nice to have the option to press and hold the [t] key while releasing the controls rather than punching it and letting go quickly (which can cause transient bobbing about). Trimming is a big part of Black Shark so this would actually make a real difference to flying the sim.
  6. Lomac allows you to use multiple controllers (so no problem mixing brands) - some older sims may not. BTW saitek has recently brought out their own pedals - I have no idea how good they are as I use ch gear (Rugg's analog braking sounds interesting). As to using the rudders I find that if I don't stand on them the A10 seems to turn like a 747.
  7. I want a remake of Microprose's "F117 Stealth Fighter" with modern graphics, co-op netplay, and a mission editor. It was a very speculative sim (and in many ways wrong) but it was FUN!
  8. Finding people who live in your timezone or joining a squad and flying in a private server is a much nicer way to start out online. You'll be in a more supportive environment and you'll probably be flying actual missions (pubs by necessity tend to have rather generic goals). The same (or compatible) timezone is a big factor - as is what you fly. A recent thread on squadrons is here: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=21947
  9. I think that since the original poster is in Sweden (and flies Soviet fighters) a European squad like the 504th would be nice and close to his timezone. And now for something completely different - for any Australians out there (especially those interested in A2G stuff) - you could always check out the Virtual Australian Air Force. We're a pretty relaxed bunch and you don't have to do any tests etc before flying with us. Even if you're signed up with another squad we'd be happy to fly with you (a few of us are joining occasional flights with 3sqn ). We currently fly A2G co-op missions (USA A10 and Georgian SU25t) on a private server and use IRC and a wiki to organise flights. http://www.vaaf.net irc://irc.oz.org#vaaf
  10. There's a freeware application called shoot! http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/ I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work in LOMAC __ Scatter Virtual Australian Air Force http://www.vaaf.net
  11. Does anyone know what G2A missles have actually intercepted another missle? (in real life - maybe even in combat) The only two that I know of are the patriot and the arrow - and the patriot's results didn't seem that convincing at the time (firing aginst long range missles high in the air). During the Falklands war an exorcet was shot down by a wall of gunfire from the Invincible. In LOMAC even things like strela's (not even radar guided) are modelled as being able to take out a certain percentage of A2G missles even when they are fired from a relatively short distance (which seems to be really pushing the boundaries of plausibility). Surely if G2A missles had this sort of capability, SDI (star wars) would have easily been a success. Scatter Virtual Australian Air Force http://www.vaaf.net
  12. Has anyone managed to "jump aircraft" to an AI aircraft in a network game? (maybe it's not supposed to work but it's a server option). I'm flying FC1.12a In single player it works fine and I've enabled it on the server options (and set to global) but haven't managed to get it to work - so I'm interested to see if it's just me. Reason that I'd like to use it is that I fly co-op with a small number of people (only 128k uplink) - while we mostly fly ground attack it'd be nice to have an AI escort that we could jump into to add some spice to our missions.
