  1. Developers such the ones you mentioned don't choose to develop a certain aircraft according to what 10 people might think and it's normal. Anyway, everyone tells whatever he want, but staying quite and learning stuff about the Huey is the best thing we can do for the moment, constantly asking why no news etc should be very very annoying, even disturbing for the developers. They probably made the mistake of announcing this one too early, far from the release, but now it's done and we just have to wait ;-) I know we have lots of energy to release, so why not read every technical PDF we can find on the web about the UH-1 ?? I can tell you there is a lot, I have about 800 Mb of Huey pdf on my hard drive, PoH, technical drawings, story related to them etc etc... And I don't find the time to post here the same eternal question
  2. No problem guys, that's nice with me but, as I try to follow this thread ( and it's hard as there is 15 answers/day ), I would like that at least it stay around our beloved future Huey. And as you said, " no new infos ", so, logically this thread should be quiet until there is new ones ... But I'm not one of those that are a sticklers for the principles, even though I would love to see a new thread emerge, like " Anything around Huey " or yes, like Raven said, a Xth wish list ;-) But ( yeah, I'm a but guy ^^ ), as a module take merely two years to be created, have wish lists such Mi-24 ( I would love this one ), Blackhawk, Apache, Chinook etc etc is the matter of 10 years ...
  3. Why posting about an hypethetic future Cobra on a Huey thread that isn't even released ?
  4. Any Cobra is fine for me... Or the earlier Vietnam AH-1G or later W Super Cobra used on seas would be fine... But this thread, so hard to follow as there is 15 replies/hours, is about HUEY
  5. Yeah Cowboy my friend ! Totally with you. I just imagine a Cobra and it's also as awesome as the Huey... hope to see a Vietnam map emerge, with historical missions such Ia Drang Valley, Operation Hastings, Irving, Cedar Falls etc etc and great pilot campaign... I remember a while ago, when I was still a Ka-50 pilot, making all my missions in rules of art, taking time to destroy all little targets one by one, going back to FARP to refuel and re-arm, all of that while listening Metallica's and Thin Lizzy's discography... Really great memories, I'm happy I'll able to do the same with DCS : Huey, with all best hits from the 60's up to the late 70's... But don't understand why this thread is so busy, PLEASE LET THEM WORK, they are aware that people are waiting for media, if they don't, the reason is just they aren't able to. Please be patient guys, I'm like you, I just know what it is to develop something...
  6. Yeah, and it front of us, developers that are very hard to get a WiP off
  7. All those speeches are nice but I found 3 main points that are way off from this virtual UH-1 - The blade curve is too pronounced and don't looks natural - The landing skids are a bit too high - When cyclic centered, the rotor disc should be a bit canted forward ( 1 or 2 degrees ). This is designed like that on real helis to keep an average " horizontal " fuselage attitude while in high speed cruise flight.
  8. Yeah, I agree wit you Turbo Hog, but as a little developer myself ( a PC-6, for another simulator ) I can tell you all takes always much longer than expected, even if all goes well ( and trust me, that is almost never the case )... Longer why ? because when there aren't bugs to sort out, you always find some points that could be tuned, polished further and further, and when you do it, new bugs appears etc etc... In the Belsimtek case, maybe their biggest mistake was to announce the product. I think they would be in a much more relax and nice mood to finish a product when there isn't hundreds of people complaining every single hours about the release date being always pushed further... But now it's too late, anyone is getting crazy about this, and I truly understand it... The best solution in that case is to get yourself occupied your free sim time with other stuff like reading technical publications, watching videos, learning from real documents, learning, learning, learning... cause nothing is more uncomfortable than get a new product and struggle to make it work, as you are very excited in the beginning and usually you lack required knowledges... And it really f*cks up the pleasure you would get from a brand new product My 2cents comments ;-)
  9. Yeah Cowboy dude ;-) and that's impressive to see how quick this thread evolved those last couple of days !
  10. Hello Darkwolf, Yes, I'm French. Hey nice, we'll maybe meet there ! It should be on September for me if all goes well ! Yes, X-Plane 10 is really good. The thing all of you have to know, is that it works really different than FS series games... And for example, if you try the demo without correctly calibrate your axis, map the switches, buttons etc, you'll face uncontrollable events. I can assure you my early attempts at X-Plane ( back in V8 ) were just absolutely chaotic... but now, I can only take DCS if I want to fly on other sim. Give your chance to X-Plane ( latest 10.20 64 bit version works really great ) with one or two great addons like the Dreamfoil's Bell 206 and R-22, and the awesome BK-117 from ND ( check You Tube ). Sorry, don't want to deviate from original subject, just say some tips if you want to CORRECTLY train before taking the direct controls of the legend...
  11. @ SkateZilla : Sorry for you, but from what I read, you still had a nice career and opportunities, most than anyone ;-) ! I'm 18 YO and already PPL, dreaming of becoming a combat heli pilot in the ALAT ( French Army ), they got the Tiger... I should pass tests next year if all goes well, I'll tell you then ;-) Another thing. If you guys want to save time when the Huey will be delivered, you'd better learn how to fly a real helicopter... as it will have nothing to do with the KA-50... And sorry to say that, but FSX, even greatly enhanced with Dodosim is still a joke about helicopters... Please give a chance to X-Plane 10, it has really realistic default physics, and this guy made a perfect Bell 206. You can taste how it looks : This particular Jet Ranger has awesome physics, the startup and overall all turbine management is perfectly simulated, with the starter, governor, twist grip and push to release button ( to close fuel ). Once you know how to handle this chopper, you surely won't have problem with the DCS Huey, as it should behave the same way ( not exactly the same, but closer than the KA50 or FSX ships... )
  12. Nice happy ending story dude ;-)
  13. + 1 Cowboy, check here everyday, if not twice... and really start to desperate ;-(
  14. Guys.. " I want this, I want that .." I know that DCS makes things according to their contracts with the army.. but SORRY, when you are making a very accurate sim for a .. MUSTANG, What the h*ll is going on ? Who is still using that old warbird today ? That's a nonsense. So I don't know why the Huey or Blackhawk are not a " realistic choice ", they are STILL in use today, all other the world.. the 51 is just used on airshows, and just forget the Comanche, it wasn't used really ..
  15. Lol, you guys don't even take time to read what was posted before, you just come here and ask " I want my APACHE ASAP !! " No.. even if the title is helicopter wishlist, the main subject was the UH-1 Huey.. At least, you could try to agree with each other, it seems main winners are the Apache and MI-24. The Comanche is just ridiculous, the real one was soo expensive no one wanted it.. I would personally be for the AH-1W, or the MI-24, as I think that series of simulator was originally russian, and they should alternate the two countries, from one DCS module to another.. posts like " APACHE are the best, WHO's WITH ME are just totally useless, not constructive at all "
  16. As my username can let it guess, I'm a fully, deeply, 9000% Huey LOVER That means , civilian or military, -B or -H variants, I'm fond of that chopper.. It's rotorhead, blades, cockpit, overall shape, sounds.. and history are just so... Loving. I would give a lot to be able to fly one in the wonderful DCS Word. This thread is now a year old, Now that P-51 is out, we can launch the polemic again, they release a plane, that should fight in a world full of SAM, Air Ground, Air-Air things.. with what ? six guns ? LOL So I think the weapons side of things is becoming less and less a decisive argument. A Bell UH-1 Huey, in the appropriate foggy, grey, wet map of Vietnam jungles, would just be so SO exciting, with a detailed world that latest DCS offers to us.. Imagin : Start a mission ON YOUR FEET ( so you control the human ) in a forward base, by night, in the middle of a dense jungle. You go to the next barracks and your chiefs give you night's order mission : a team of 7 SOG Soldiers are lost in the deep jungle, near Cambodian border, you have to pick them out ASAP, as patrols on Cambodge is absolutely ( officialy at least ) prohibited, then take them to Da Nang airport cause they're about to finish their Tour Of Duty and should prepare to get back home.. during the flight, all can happen, stay tuned on the radio, the war is still advancing, and all can happen.. ( meaning here you would eventually be called to land on a kind of FARP, ground guys loading rocket pods on your airframe sides ) and we tell you you have fight against a VC attack near Khe Sanh, as soon as 7 guys are delivered. All mission editor, trigger etc offer many possibilities. I'm sorry guys but that sound really exciting plot, you'll need to work like a real pilot, plan your navigation " by the book " on map before, calculating wind drift, fill your navlog, estimate differents headings according to airways ( at least, routes that are known to be " sure " ).. then climb into your venerable UH-1 H, start checklist ( a full check would take 7-10 min ) calculating fuel you should take to fullfil the mission without being too heavy, while taking into account the possibility of a route change. Then finally start turbine, and slowly hear that so known sound of those mighty blades.. That's true us, simmer pilots used to fully automatic or powerful stuf like A-10, Su-25.. even if not latest technology, it's still relatively easy to handle them, the principal fun is by operating weapon.. here it would be have a real workload of navigation and flight management. For example, best submarine sims, Silent Hunter series ,also focus a lot on crew managing, navigation, weather change etc... not only firing a bunch of torpedoes to sink everythink. Some of you may thinks it's rubbish, compared to " LOAD OF DEATH " the A-10 can offer.. but personally, destroying things over and over in the Black Shark kinda boring me a la longue. As you said, Digital COMBAT Simulation means things related to war, not only killing. A battle without logistic support is lost even before starting. The Huey could pickup an artillery piece and bring it on the top of a Hill.. Let's just imagin a second, back in the mid 60's..
  17. Continue voting people :) !
  18. Yes.. In fact, the Huey is by far the Heli I want the most to be reproduced accurately, in any sim ( X-Plane, DCS.. ) but no chance that DCS would ever consider it, even if it's the father of all helicopter ..
  19. YEAH ! Vote now people ;-)
  20. Ok thanks guys for pointing this to me ;-)
  21. Vietnam yeah, I already thought it a while ago.. But ED is not so open minded. They wake their OWN choice, with no real logic. I imagined a Vietnam War campaing, as a Huey Pilot, doing Medevac Mission in the Jungle or Napalm bombing with powerful F4 Phantom, Or even escort the Rolling Thunder B-52 bombers from the Viet MiG's... But all that is not achievable yet, I think ( And I think they also think ) that not much people would get interested in that. They prefer doing the ultra devastator Aicraft (A-10) with many weapons to transform an ennemy Battlefield into a graveyard.. I think we only could expect that in 5-6 Years, when the modules will reach about 10-15 maybe.. but at that time, I hope that I'll fullful my dream : Heli Pilot in the ALAT.. and this didn't start with DCS, it started since I was able to walk ! Anyway, went back to the Hind, that would be a pretty nice idea ! I just finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call Of Pripyat today, and the evacuation in MI-24 just let me thinking.. in many FPS game, the ennemy chopper is a MI-24 ( or MI-8 in CoD). I mean the Mil helicopters have a really great cultural impact in the East world. It's the MI-8 and MI-26 that helped during the Battle of Chernobyl, those same pilot who were called back from Afghanistan in '86. In DCS:Black Shark, Many missions are based on a close collaboration between KA-50's and MI-24.. like in France teh Gazelle and the Pumas, the Huey and the Cobras in Vietnam or the Black Hawk and the Appache in actual US warfare.. The one is just nothing without the other.. I don't frequent the forum too much, does DCS dev sometimes answer on the threads ? I would love to have a kind of answer from them about the Hind. As Lock On is originally a russian product, I think ( and hope ! ) they are quite attached to their roots.
  22. Even If I love US, I'm 100 % for russian stuffs.. so heavy, and complex to operate.. It's also a strange world for us, sim pilot who are used of FS, X-Plane etc.. so mainly Occidental Aircrafts.. When I discovered the KA-50, it was like a kind of new world for me. But I already miss a traditional russian aircraft with their unique blue colour.. Really hope to see it in DCS. One other reason is that I want a " real " helicopter, I mean conventional, with main rotor and tail rotor. The AH 64 is same configuration but more " futurist " with double tail rotor and ugly shape..
  23. I know, but the MI-24 is just the Symbol of ex USSR .. the Apache is not the US one.. it was the Huey, my favorite heli, but absolutely no chance to hope to see it in DCS, Vietnam Era wasn't Maverick, Vikhr and Hellfire era.. And I'm a russian stuff enthusiast, all that complex engineering, heavy things from the 80's.. You must admit russian stuffs are exceptionnal, wheras US ACFT are more conventional and use less " superlatives ".. The Russian, with their giant submarines, AN-225 or even MI-26 just need respect .. Anyway I don't know much about the MI-24 Task repartition, does the WSO do everything conscerning weapons ? Or just the gun ? In some cool and fun games like BF2, the gunner only controlled gun and missiles, Pilot the rockets. I'm feared that if 3'rd party guys start to develop, the quality level of DCS will Quickly decrease.. The only solution would be that, before a release of a 3'rd party ACFT, DCS would check and accept the file.. that would take too much time. If they could release 2 ACFT a year, that would be genius. I personally hoping for MI-24, and Mirage 2000 for next Aicrafts... There aren't only American or Russian fighter you know.. The actual Rafale ( yes I'm French ! ) is just one of the best, if not the best.
  24. DCS : MI-24 Hind Hello heli pilots ! I'm wondering what you think about that marvelous attack helicopter for next DCS module about helicopter. I know main part of votes is for the Apache, but once again, it's a US heli, and last DCS was American Bomber.. I think the Hind has a much more important history than the Apache,it's a kind of symbol of ex CCCP and Cold War. Beautiful, powerful, the Hind is very versatile, from troop transport to infantry support.. Moreover, it already has a very realistic and accurate 3D model in DCS, I know it's just a little part, it miss systems etc.. but isn't what you did for the Mustang ? I really hope Flying Legends and Eagle Dynamics have that idea in their " to do list " http://red-stars.org/IMG/jpg/Mi-24P_Hind-F.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/de/Helicopter_Cockpit_Mil_Mi-24D_Hind.jpg http://www.checksix-forums.com/gallerie/albums/userpics/42953/normal_99.jpg
  25. Hello Guys ! I'm french, everyone here knows about Alouette III, that bird will NEVER escape from our hearts, as well as Alouette II and Lama. Thhen come the Puma/Super Puma/Caracal series helicopter, different generation. We have also the " Tigre " actually one of the best attack helicopter of the world, seriously. But the thing that shocked me the most .. Why ( almost ) anyone didn't mention ... the Huey ?! I mean the Vietnam Era Bell 205 UH-1 Iroquois commonlly called the " Huey ". I'm assuming most of you are native american, this bird and his legendary rotor sound should be part of your roots, of your identity, like the hamburger and the rock n' roll .. If you're paying attention, look at the quality of the Huey aviable as AI in DCS Blackshark, the UH-1H, very nice detailed. Of course, the possibility of such an ACFT would go with a totally different theatre an era.. I mean we go back 40 years earlier, somewhere in southeast asia.. I'm sure there is something great that could be picked up from that, a DCS Module : Vietnam, with only two flyable helis : the UH-1H as troops transport, Medivac, and the UH-1C Gunship, no modern weapons system, only good old rocket, but a campaing that would take both birds into account, following the pilot's profile during the progression of the war, for example it start around 1965 in the Dust Off Huey, and get a quick role as a ground attack/support Huey pilot, in collaboration with old Cobras. What do you think ? The Huey is just THE most knowed helicopter from all around the world, it's kind like the DC-3 for fixed wing. And the Vietnam conflict would change from eternal Russian conflicts that we're used for since first versions of Lock On. Best regards, Valentin.
